I’m not sure what I’m doing today. I know I’m helping my son with a transition strip and I’m eating a steak with my daughter (the HBIC and her are feuding) and her roommate. I may golf, may not. Popular Post rkj427
Good morning Spies on a frosty Michigan morning here. Have a tee time at 9:50AM, and it is supposed to be low to mid 40's by then and getting up to mid 50's for the high. Will layer up and looking forward to getting out with regular partners. Hope to catch the second half of the Lions game later. @jbern I have done detailing for many years, not in my retirement/second job plans, do it as a hobby now, too many want it done but do not want to pay for the time or effort it takes. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good morning! I was able to sleep in a bit today since the puglarm didn't go off until almost 8. I had to wait for a bit for my coffee to brew and now I'm catching up on the forum with a cup of coffee in my hand. I had a great time on the course yesterday and definitely will have to go back. Well, I'll have to go back anyway because I lost the headcover to my 4 hybrid and need to see if I someone turned it in. We met earlier at a course to make use of their range and it was cool walking in so I put my golf jacket on. I put my hands in my pocket and noticed something was in there, I pulled it out and there was the MGS logo glove I thought I'd lost a few weeks ago. @Rickp I wish l would have trained my dogs to handle dressing up just because I think it's adorable. Our pug did go through a stage where she had to wear a stress vest, but that doesn't count. I might have to go by myself to get groceries today, my wife tweaked her back Friday and is supposed to go to the chiropractor tomorrow. I don't know if she's going to feel up to it today. I hope y'all have a great day! rkj427, EasyPutter, Josh Parker and 7 others

cksurfdude
Good Morning good people of MGS!! Another in a long string of clear sunny days here, although today is starting out more like Fall with temps in the mid 40s .. should warm up by the time my honey and I head to the course. Yep gonna play 9 - my back has loosened up and it's not 100% but good enough as long as I swing in control. That's the current working theory, anyway! Gotta go as this will be the last week of my season. @rkj427 if I had a valuable classic I'd definitely hire you for actual money to shine it up like that truck. Wow! Hickory4ever
Good morning everyone, we have a hard frost here this morning. The 18th green is white and it will mean a frost delay so there is no rush to get ready. For @BIG STU, most of us hickory players use a soft ball such as a Calloway Supersoft or similar when playing. They work very well. I find most of the tour balls too hard. Today will be my 190th game of the year, all without going south. I have played over 80 rounds with hickory clubs and played my 500th round with hickories in August. I played my first in 2018. I hope everyone has a good day and for the other Northerners, dress warmly. Erin B, Lefty11, Josh Parker and 6 others 7 2 Quote Play everything from the hickory era to modern equipment. Byrnzee
Good morning Spies! Supposed to have a tee time in about an hour and a half, but received a frost delay email from the course. Hoping it gets lifted soon and we can still get out. I'm guessing some people will pull out which might mean we can tee off close to original time. The season is quickly coming to an end and I need to take advantage of all available weekends. After golf we're planning on watching the Formula 1 race and hopefully catching some of the Bills game simultaneously. We were supposed to go to a local F1 bar, but with how busy this day is looking, we may just opt to stay home and watch it from our couch. My wife and I are celebrating our 1-year wedding anniversary this weekend (actual date is tomorrow) so we are headed to a nice restaurant this evening to do a tasting menu. Should be a good time with great food and wine. Hope everyone has a great Sunday and if you're lucky enough to be golfing, hit 'em straight! Intestinal problems subsided, gift arrived, and dinner happened. Dinner was meh. New restaurant for us, online menu was not accurate (GF wanted steak, there was nothing resembling steak on the actual menu), the entrees they did have were overpriced and not super tasty. We got out of there for $150 before tip. I don't think we'll be going back. Red Lobster would have been better, if there was a RL in town. The birthday cake was great though. We sat outside in 70-degree weather, built a fire in our backyard fire pit, and ate cake. All in all, I ate too much last night; the restaurant provided some kind of a birthday custard before we got home to the cake. Back on the road today, Spies! Drive to Charlotte in my car this time; rental car would have complicated an already complicated itinerary. It's supposed to rain today, but hoping I can get in nine holes on my arrival. Tomorrow, see a patient in Charlotte, park my car at the airport, fly to Boston, do clinic up there for two days, fly back to Charlotte Wednesday evening, one patient there on Thursday, drive home. Jmikecpa
Up early this morning and enjoyed a coffee with my the dog snoring at my feet. Haircut today and cryo treatment for my back then a lunch out east with my wife. Hellcat hasn’t stretched its legs in a bit so time to get it on the road. EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies on a quiet in the house last Sunday in October, just jobs outside in the yard continuing the get-ready for the weather to come in a couple months (hopefully it's not early). EnderinAZ
5 hours ago, BIG STU said: I do not keep up with any football (college or pro) but right now I do have a soft spot for the Ducks. After all they did beat OSU. We have too many transplants arrogant OSU fans around here. One of my buds in the league is one (he is a good guy though). I went around quacking like a Duck that week. To show you how detached I am from other stick and ball sports. Someone at the course asked me who I was pulling for in the World Series? I told him World Series? I did not even know they were playing it much less who is in it? LOL he looked at me as in "what rock did you crawl out from?" I have no problem if others have a team or keep up with it I just do not. Being born and bred in the South I do not even keep up with NASCAR anymore. Now golf I watch ALL tours when I have the time. I do not make special time to even watch that if I have something else to do. The only Tournament I do make special time to watch is The Masters. Again being a proud Southerner that event is near, dear and sacred to me. I have an Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers golf story for ya. We moved out of the rain in Alaska in 2002 over to the desert of Bend Oregon. I found a little muni course in the next town to get a membership and play for less money. I worked a two week on shift in the Alaskan oilfields above the Arctic Circle and two weeks at home, and wanted to play at least 10 days while I was home. Anyway the Beavs and the Ducks have this big "Civil War" football game every year (and no I never watched it). The day after the game in 2002 I played an early round with two old guys ( mid 60s -not so old as I look at it now-) one a ducks fan the other a beavs fan. The way the described it they had played this "after the war" round for decades to discuss the game. By the 14th or 15th hold the discussion had become a shouting match as they rolled between their balls in the same cart. I was walking. The 18th green was in a little hollow (the course has since closed) behind the parking lot. As I walked down toward the lot the two of them were standing nose to nose and really getting vile in their shouting when suddenly the Ducks guy threw a punch. For the next 20 seconds or so they threw these big haymakers at each other rarely landing. They split apart staggering back to lean on their vehicles panting like they had just run a hundred yard wind sprint. By now I had my clubs loaded in the back of my truck and walked over to the cart they were using and volunteered to put it back. When I came back they were standing together chatting amiably and invited me to come play with them again next week.... I played with them for about a year until the Beavs fan died. Neither one ever threw another punch or raised their voice about anything. William P
Good Sunday morning All! The CEO's Farmers Market showing was a success as she puts it and not one mention of thanks for the hired help... Some things never change. At the market one of her friends came by and mentioned she had bought a new desk that needed assembly, and you guessed it, after we got her packed up and transported home, she advised that she had offered my assembly services, and we were expected around 4pm. Oh well, I didn't really want to relax and possibly take the afternoon off... Rob, @rkj427, that is a beautiful job on the classic Ford! Enjoy and have a great round today.
