Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Good evening Spies! I did get out to the range this afternoon and set up the Garmin for 80 balls, of which 40 were with the big dog. The plan was to max out on the swing speed, but I topped out at 88 mph with a few more at 84-85 (the 88 was a pop fly and didn't go anywhere). Of course one of the balls I really blistered was not picked up by the Garmin, so I just had to enjoy that little draw without any data to back it up. Best recorded ball speed was 121; I had 6 of those, including a 3 wood that registered at 198 total. I had four shots come in at 200 yards or better, but I was landing several around the flag at 190 that weren't recorded at that distance by the Garmin. Launch angles were a little better, more double digits and less 8-degree bullets. Best carry recorded was 178 with a few more in the mid-170s, but the 178 only rolled out 10 yards, or so it said (17 degree launch angle). Wind was not a factor at all. I'd say incremental progress. Too many pop flies, although I should have expected that given that I was swinging out of my shoes and using their mat tees instead of my normal driver tees. I think I generally had the ball teed higher today than my usual driver shots, which was sort of an experiment. Some pushes, some push-draws, some pull-hooks and a few just how I wanted them -- draw going right over the 121 flag that was my target. I can only remember a couple of big bananas, which was a bit surprising given how hard I was trying to swing. Why do I hit the pushes? I have discovered that if I set up with my feet aimed at 1 o'clock and try to swing in that direction, that is the setup most likely to give me the shots down the middle I want (yes it's a compensation, but it's one that works for me). But if I don't quite get the clubface released, it's a push. Worst shot (the last one) was 50 yards right of target, which was one of those bananas, but some of the pushes were almost that far right. Driver dispersion chart is below, although most (but not all) of the shorties were actually pitching wedges. Neighbor did ballhawking in the evenings at 3 courses next to us and he found thousands (really) of balls. I had 1st pick of whatever he came up with and have chatmy mind on many brands including TM, Sirxon & Callaway. He found and I’ve played Lady’s and damn they’re really good!! Yeah I guess I have eased into "Old Fartdom" I have gotten to playing what ever I find at times. I do play the Lady Bridgestone or Lady Srixons some especially when playing the persimmons. I had quite a stash of Srixon and Wilson balls won in the 9& dines and Saturday Shootouts. They quit giving away balls in those events some time ago and instead give away cheap wine. I do not drink wine period and rarely even drink beer anymore so I quit playing those events. IMHO they have evolved into one big drunkfest which I do not care for. In reality I do not have enough SS where a ball makes any difference and have lost a lot of feel so really it does not make much difference on putting and short game. Saturdays now days I play Hickory golf with my wife up on the little Par3 and sometimes we have a little informal group that plays Hickory clubs too. We have a blast and do not have to put up with the loud drunken slobs. Even though my retirement is not exactly like I envisioned I am able to play most days and doing the best I can with my battered body so I am thankful William P, EnderinAZ, Josh Parker and 13 others 14 1 1 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G
Popular Post BIG STU
LOL-- As everyone can see I am up bright and early this morning as usual WFO (well as much as an old fart can be) I missed the CC last night. I slept past it. I played golf yesterday with mixed results. I came home and was watching the Fed EX and went to sleep. Not that the golf was boring but I was tired. Senior moment forgot to set the alarm. My wife worked Wednesday night and grocery shopped afterwards so she was in bed and I did not want to disturb her. We ended up going to the Moose again and I got a great big Pizza. Saved some of it for this AM and I am having my favorite breakfast cold pizza and coffee. I know I am on a diet but sometimes I do have to. More than likely will not eat anything other than maybe a protein pack until tonight. Yeah I am playing in the small money game today. I like that group which is a spin off of the league because it is a smaller group of players. I think we only have 6 for today. If we have less than 6 then we will play like a couple of individual $1 games or something. Any way I am playing and it will be fun Northern Monkey, Byrnzee, EasyPutter and 14 others 15 2 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G
Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good Friday morning everyone! I'm glad the weekend is almost here after what I would call a less than stellar week at the Chunks household. The wife and I both were recovering from Covid and then yesterday I tripped over a litter box and tested the hardness of the tile floor in my kitchen with my left knee. It's swollen this morning and surprisingly not nearly as bruised as I thought. My wife was concerned since she was in the room and heard what she thought was an earthquake and came out to find me face down on the floor. I laid there for a bit just going through a checklist making sure nothing was broken. I'm thankful I'm doing good and it could have been a lot worse. I enjoyed the community call yesterday, it's always one of my favorite parts of the week to be able to talk to those of you that come on. @Rickp I hope the Dr appointment goes well for your wife today. I hope y'all have a wonderful day! EasyPutter, Wheelieb, William P and 15 others 16 1

It being a team thing and I was not sure how the body would hold up and I did not want to get into a position to have to abandon the team. I plan on playing in the League championship last month. Last year the second day was rained out and so 2 guys were tied and were co-champions. I was 3rd 2 strokes (net) back. My Sunday playing bud was one of the guys. He talks smack about it. I told him he better be glad for the rain that I was right up their butts going into the second day and I have a reputation for coming back from the dead. Now I had no problem with the rain out but some did. As usual for me I just roll with the flow. My male pup has this social thing where any pet store we go into, and now tractor supply, he’s got to leave a pile in the middle of an aisle. So after picking that up we got into the washroom and got him and my female pup all cleaned up. Grilled chicken thighs last night and they turned out awesome. Tonight, we are going to see the Savannah Bananas. I’m pretty excited for that. Tomorrow, I’ll be playing in the Saturday league that @TJ Hall shared info with me for.
