The Mad Bomber
Hear me out - I know they're ridiculous looking to some. But I play golf in the mountains and can get 4 seasons in one day. If I know we're taking a cart, I'll load up the staff bag with rain gear, snacks, plenty of water and, if its wet (and this is where a staff bag outshines every other bag out there) dry shoes, socks, extra towels and even a spare umbrella. I find that being really prepared can make a less than stellar day, far more enjoyable. Anybody else? DiscipleofPenick
They're ridiculous and don't you dare ever make a caddy carry one. They'll be wanting to dump it in the first creek they see. Especially if your game does not match. In my decade as a caddy, I had two guys with these bags at the club. One was a decent golfer but would only flat rate (never tipped) and the other was a max 36 handicap, so sloughing his bag around was a chore and couldn't forecaddy to the normal spots because of all his topped/sliced tee shots. I should have added the caveat that, when I travel - it stays home. Unless you're paying the guy a percentage of your winnings, you don't bring anything but an appropriate carry bag. I'm talking about a cart situation, where you don't have to consider the carts well-being. Kenny B
There wasn't an option for owning more than one. I have two staff bags and I did use both on the course, but they always rode on a cart. Now they sit in my hitting bay holding clubs. The Wilson Staff Deep Red bag was provided by the pro at my old course and he put my name on it. I bought the MacGregor Tourney bag nearly new for $50. I can still fill the bag with a complete set of MacGregor clubs... except for a putter. BIG STU
I started back using one of my old mini staff bags from my old mini tour days. I am not able to walk so I ride all the time. I still do not carry a lot of stuff but it is very user friendly for me. If I was able to walk I would use either my Jones or Vagabond bag. LOL what is funny and I do not care it is a Titleist and right now I do not have one Titleist club in it just TM Cally and Cleveland. Do not play Titleist balls either but play Srixon and even for now have a older Srixon towel on it. But it is easy to get clubs in and out with no hang up. The Vagabond is made for walking only and I would not dream of putting it on a cart because of durability. The Jones is older and has rode a lot in the last 3 years and is showing wear and tear. The old Titleist is rugged and all our bag drop guys will tell you it is lighter than most cart bags and not as bulky either. But I figured why not use it when my Jones was getting old. And no I would not be a big Pecker head and expect a caddy to carry it. In fact 5 years ago when we played Harbortown and used caddies I used the Vagabond which I have modified with a big padded strap. Popular Post GolfSpy TCB
I just received the Titleist Mid-Staff from my kids for my birthday. It is a thing of beauty. I used to carry (yes, I carry my own bag DoP ... would never expect anyone to carry it for me) a Nike Staff many moons ago. But it was liberated from the trunk of my car along with my MP33's while I was having dinner at the course I just finished playing. I also have a stand bag. But honestly, the mid staff feels better in my shoulder and better weight distribution as I walk down the fairway. I'm sure I get eye rolls... don't care.
