How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

Started playing Golf the summer of 2022, started at a bachelor party in California and that is where i fell in love with the game. Came home and immediately bought a walmart set package set of Wilson clubs to get started. Played for a couple of months before moving around to different clubs/taking lessons. I have gotten fitted since my third lesson and got fitted for my current set of clubs. I currently shoot anywhere from 80s-90s, coming from shooting over 100 every single time in the first couple months. Putting/drives off the tee are currently the struggling part of my game, but my approach/short game around the green is saving my scores. Since getting fitted into my current set, everything is currently going very well for me, with putting still being my weakest point in my game. 

 

Lowest current score is an 80 from Eagle Wood Resort(+8), Tips Tee Length is around 6100 but has very challenging holes that require accuracy or be punished in very deep bunkers. Current Handicap on 18 Birdies is 11.2.

What do you love about golf?

The challenge of the game, courses/new places you get to vist as well as people you get to meet along the way. I have met plenty of people that I now Golf with regularly, as well as just overall love for the experience. Regardless of the day/score i am currently shooting, I just enjoy being out on the course and everything it has to offer.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

I do not currently know of any other spies, but I take all of the information i learn from here and try to apply it to real world applications. I read every single best of/reviews of current gear and what is the best for the year, and test it for myself to see if it is something that can improve my game. Although, being a left handed player sometimes the best items are not always available to me so I have to make do with what is available.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

I am from the North West Suburbs of Chicago, and live on the course Maple Meadows in Wood Dale, IL. 

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

The best thing is there are plenty of public courses with different challenges within anywhere from 5 minute to 45 minute drive, all differing in challenge/price range that are reasonable. 

What do you do for a living?

I am a Telecommunication Engineer, that is currently a Proejct Manager for Google Fiber in Austin Texas (I work remote from Illinois).

How’d you pick your user name?

I still currently play water polo, which is what i played in high school/college. This sport actually got me to meet my best friend, whos twin brother got me into golf on his bachelor party and I am forever grateful for.
