Kegger
I played over the weekend and it was a tale of two 9s.. On the front I played at +5 (which is pretty darn good for me) but started falling apart on the back 9 with a +11 for a rather disappointing 88 given how I started the day... I've been struggling a lot off the tee and just can't seem to get my driver in order.. Luckily, the ball is still going mostly straight and I'm hitting fairways, the ball is just 30 yards back of where it was 6 months ago... It's been very frustrating trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong with the driver.. It's terrible knowing that I can tee off with a 4-iron right now and be within 10 yards of my driver... If you get too much over top of the ball it's hard to swing up and boom that sucker. Just a thought to consider Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Oh, I am definitely coming well over the top and likely have a negative attack angle (never had it measured though)! It's been an ongoing swing fault I have been unable to rid myself of. The problem here is that I don't feel like my swing has changed any over the past year, but my yardage has been dropping. Maybe it's just time to take a stab at lessons.. I just worry about the whole getting worse before you get better part of lessons... Edit: Just realizing that you said on top of the ball, not over the top as in swing... Whoops.. I couldn't definitively tell you whether or not I'm staying behind the ball at impact. I'll have to be more aware of that. But I still think it might be time to seek some professional help! STUDque
Had a really fun winter practice round without a scorecard. Used two mulligans but made them both count. One of them was a hybrid from 226 (over the corner of a hazard tree) that stopped stiff for a 10 foot eagle putt that I drained. I know it doesn't count, but it still felt really really good. Since I went straight from the car to the first tee, my first few holes were rough but I played the last 6 holes at even (2 bogies, 3 pars, and an eagle*). The best part was I found a bunch of fairways and nailed some pure iron shots. Golf is a lot easier like that. Starting to get a better feel for the speed on the greens. I'm still getting used to the MLA since I've barely played with it on the course. Chipping needs the most work. I have a hard time making clean contact in this dormant Bermuda. Oh yeah, and the fellow I played with rode in a cart so I got some jogging in with my Clicgear to keep pace. 9 holes in 1:40. Golfspy_CG2
Got out for 9 holes with our GM this afternoon. It's my 3rd nine hole round of the year. yeah, I've been busy. But we will be playing for three straight days next week down in Williamsburg so tryng to get some cobwebs worked out. Hit the G400 Max fairly well, had a couple holes where I tried to really go after it and as a result pulled out of the shot lost it right. But it's so forgiving the shots were in the rough, not in the trees whcih they most likely would have been with other drivers. Other than that, missed one other fairway with a pull to the left. So not a steallar 4 of 7 fairways but consdering the two I missed right still had realistic shots at the green,I was happy. Irons were so/so, seemed like i was into the wind on every approach, so came up short a few times. The short game was mostly decent, had two stellar short game shots with the CBX 54 degree, one from the bunker that spun like a top 4 feet from the pin, the other from a nice 20 yard pitch from in front of the green. Also a couple really nice ones with the SM6, I have three of the SM7 on order, so it's going to be hard to pass up the RTX in the other two lofts, but the Vokeys' just perform, and the Jet Black is killer. Putting was ok, greens have gained some speed as they were cut a couple times the past week. Overall didn't hate the way I played for February, if I played like this in June, I probably wouldn't be as happy. Didn't keep score, but I'm guessing it would have been somewhere between 48 and 51. Congrats Rick P and yes that Flu is a kicker. Lots of folks down two plus weeks from it, even younger people. I hadn't swung a club since I played with Foz and Matt, I did get out to putt and chip once. Somehow though I managed to shoot 37-38 75 today. I drove it well and farther because the ball is finally starting to run out a bit and I putted beautifully - hit more greens off the longer drives so the great putting was speed control - I hit 11 greens - if I hit 11 greens regularly my handicap will drop significantly.
