jbil8802
81 yesterday, 85 today. Still looking for that elusive 79. It seems that all parts of my game are decent at the moment but all could use improvement. Gonna keep focusing on 75 yards and in, around the greens, and my putting and see what happens. fozcycle
We had our semi annual Two Day Blitz this weekend. 39 golfers played. I shot a 90 and 88 putting me + 7 on my points and finishing 4th place with $142. Sunday's round was 41/47 with a Birdie on #8. The total payout was over $5k. First place got $350 and last place got $72. Now on to the next Two Day Blitz.....in October. apprenti23
Beautiful Chicago Springday today- low 60's zephyr of a breeze and mildly sunny. Snuck out with three buddies to play a GC I hadn't in almost 15 years. Due to them not being able to break 115 and it being my third round of the year, they played the whites and I played the blues (one off back). I have to get out and get my swing on video n do some actual practice to see where/why my clubface is dead shut. I generally play straight or five yard fade, now my miss is a left or left and still going left. I don't like the shape and it's difficult to control. Courses are still nowhere near in good shape, but the grass is starting to turn green. I was able to manage five birdies for 73. Missed a few I should've made, including many poor lags and especially two birdies inside ten feet on the last two holes. Oh well, I'll take it for this time of year. It just nice hearing birds chirp, smelling freshly mown grass, and seeing green again. revkev, wbealsd and jbil8802

wbealsd
Got a chance to play 9 with some buddies on a course I hadn't played in a few years. Despite the 25+ mph wind, I managed 2 pars, 2 doubles and 5 bogies for my second round of Spring, which made me feel pretty good. Drove the ball well (easily longer than the other "old farts" I was playing with), and had a good day with my wedges. revkev
Be careful what you wish for my friend - I did fine with 17, in fact I did fine with the entire rest of the course, just don't ask me about 16, it's not at all what it looks like on TV unless you have a 290 followed by a 210, both accurate, the first with a touch of draw and the second with a fade. That's how the pro that played with us approached it. I liked his approach better than my duck hook into the left side of the fairway that's blocked by trees, chunk/ clank off the trees trying to hook it around them from that hanging lie, fairway wood off the pine straw into the water right, wedge on and two putts. If I had it to do over I'd hit three wood off the tee aiming at the water, 5 wood or hybrid left side (the trees that look so prominent on TV over there are not in play if you are 100 yards out) wedge on and go to 17. RookieBlue7
Just got off the course. It's rained all week and rained till 9:00 last night. Lots of standing water. But I actually played better than I have in a while. Shot a 79 that I'm happy with all things considered. It's one of my better scores lately anyway. But that's not why I'm happy. I reshafted my driver with the Elements 6F5T and it was money. Point and shoot with it. And I put a new to me Scotty TeI3 Newport in the bag (against what I've putted with lately totally). I putted lights out. Had 25 putts (more on why soon). But the head shape and neck worked for me today and I'm not sure why. I've putted with a center shafted face balanced putter for a while but was tinkering in the last few weeks then found this one for a project really and to see it in person because I thought it might be a tour tei3 as it's pro platinum with the copper insert. Got it for $100 from 2ndswing because of condition I guess. I'm not going to refinish it or anything putter too well to. Makes me excited to get the Mannkrafted MA66 in honestly. Why I had so few putts? I chipped my arse off even in the wet conditions. I was chipping mostly with lower loft in my gap wedge and letting it release. I holed an eagle chip on # 5 with it and lipped out a birdie chip on 16. Chipped in on #10 with my 64 degree also. (Been a long time since I've chipped in once and I did twice today). But I chipped better than I have in a long time using the GW mostly and minding my posture when having to chip. Hitting a good bit of fairways and being able to get up and down when I didn't helped. I still hit a few wayward shots but playing more and it's improving. I do need a new 56 and 60 with a little more bounce though. revkev 1 Quote In The BagDriver: TaylorMade M2 (2017) w/ Project X T1100 HZRDUS Handcrafted 65x Strong 3 wood: Taylormade M1 15* w/ ProjectX T1100 HZRDUS handcrafted 75x3 Hybrid: Adams PRO 18* w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4 Hybrid: Adams PRO 20* (bent to 21*) w/ KBS Tour Hybrid S flex tipped 1/2"4-AW: TaylorMade P770 w/ Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Black Onyx S400 SW: 56* Scratch Tour Dept(CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerLW: 60* Scratch Tour Department (CC grooves) w/ Dynamic Gold SpinnerXW: 64* Cally XForged Vintage w/ DG X100 8 iron tiger steppedPutter: Nike Method Prototype 006 at 34"Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Kenny B
My wife and I played a links style course today with another couple. Beautiful, sunny 77 with slight breeze. I was the only one that played well. I typically shoot mid-to-high 80's on this course. It eats my lunch! I had one bad hole; took a double on the par 4 ninth hole because I had two chunks in the fairway. The green is elevated with water on the left and behind, and a big deep bunker that falls off the right side of the green. I just let it get to me. I am ashamed! I only hit 10 of 14 fairways and 9 of 18 greens, and not one birdie, but managed to shoot 80. Chipping and putting saved me. Easily my best round of the year so far, but I am still kicking myself over that double! silver & black
It was a very different round today. This was my 3rd time out this year. The wind was relentless. I don't play in wind a lot, so it was a challenge for me. I found myself 1-2 clubs wrong all day. I just don't have enough experience playing in really windy conditions to know what to do. It was so bad, putts would blow off line. Despite the wind, I managed to shoot 82. It could have been quite a good round (for me) if I had more experience and know how, to deal with the windy conditions.

sp0rtsfan86
Played two rounds this weekend after 3 weeks of 7 day a week work. First round shot an 87, which included double parring a par 3 that's 120 yards long without any water around. First round I struggled with the irons and driver but the putter was ok. Second round at the same course, I probably shot 98... couldn't hit a driver in bounds most of the day, and since switching from B330rx's to Prov1x's... I've noticed a ton more spin off the driver... but more importantly, I'm getting a few balls to check up nicely on holes. Either way 10 strokes in 24 hours is not ideal. ACcustomX
Played yesterday. 37* and snowing throughout the front nine. Shot what may have been the worst round of my life. Could not get off the tee to save my life. Topped or toe hit every tee shot. Irons were great but, could not get my distances on approach shots dialed in. I kept clubbing up one club to accommodate for the cold temperatures and wind conditions but found myself hitting the back of, or flying most of the greens. The shots that did hit the green would not stay on the green. I don't know how they got the greens as firm as they did for it being as wet as it has around here. On the bright side, I putted great. Worked hard on it over the winter and it seems to have payed off. Distance controll was excellent and anything inside 10 feet felt automatic. No three putts!! I think I have finally found the putter (at least the style of putter) that fits my stroke. For now the Bridgestone TD-01 is staying in. Never really thought I would care for an insert putter, but, the feed back I get from it is phenomenal. Well, I guess it can only get better from here. Trying to look at it as just padding my handicap for a bit. Can't wait to be called a sand bagger at the first club tournament. sp0rtsfan86
Talk about a weird round. I started par, bogey (went over the steep part of the green by a foot), par, bogey (nailed a 15 footer). Get to a par 5 and suddenly my putting goes from great to disgustingly bad. Had to lip out 3-4 times and miss about four 5 footers. Perhaps I can blame the low pressure system that came in at the time winds went from 10-15 mph winds to 25-30 and gusts near 40. The worst hole was 9 where I went GIR only to roll one off the green into a side hole. Took two to get out and another two to finish out. Ended up 2 putting out the last two holes for pars for an even 90 from a combined 100 feet on some of the worst slopes. Could not buy a putt from 8-15 then hit a ridiculous putt on 16 that broke 4 foot on a 5 footer. Basically it was good golf that surrounded a 8-9 hole turd. Off to play tomorrow though! Zeasy
Got out to play for the first time in several weeks Friday. I've been working on a more Hogan-esque set up (ball stays in same position off the left foot but the right moves from closer and open with the wedge to further back and closed with the right). Results were awesome. My distance was insane and my ball striking was the best it's been in a year. Putting and chipping was rusty but that's to be expected. News of the day was that my friend (a former collegiate women's golfer) drove a 270 yard green and made eagle. revkev
Kaboom! Bones, did you happen to notice this? I played well today. Shot 72, in fact our group had 72,82,92,102. My round demonstrated nicely how proximity to the hole is more significant than greens hit. I "only" hit 7 greens. However I had 5 other holes where I was able to putt from the fringe and 2 others where I was able to chip. There was a far great chance that I was going to hole one of those shots than take 3. I was close to the hole and in the right spot to be aggressive. wbealsd 1 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
sp0rtsfan86
I snapped a 60 degree wedge over my knee on my way to a 94. Hit two shots from 80-110 that hit the top most and steepest part of the grass filled bunkers and jumped back in. Another yard further and both would have been dead stiff to tucked pins. Didn't help I missed a ton of 3-4 footers including two for birdie that were within a revolution or two of going in. Rough day.
