UNOFFICIAL Aretera Alpha One Review

2 more rounds in this weekend with the Aretera shaft and it continues to amaze me. My swing was junk all weekend resulting in 82 yesterday and 84 today. That said the driver was still on point.  6/14 yesterday but had 3 that barely missed and 10/14 today included 4 over 300.  The Aretera Alpha One is just so consistent.  I know as long as I put a half way decent swing on it, I’m gonna find the middle of the face.

Woke up to a ton of wind this morning so I decided to grab the flightscope mevo+ and grabs some numbers before tearing down the cage.  Carry is still down like normal but boy oh boy do I like seeing that spin number.

Read about this shaft in a recent MGS newsletter - very intriguing! Though for me it would probably be the Blue 55.

Interesting shaft.. Hopefully with the information gleaned from another thread.. There are now and will be more fitting options. Also, wonder what a the possibility of a price reduction is.

Doubtful on price reduction as they are brand new shafts

I bought a new Darkspeed Cobra driver with this shaft...for me I could see a huge difference. My miss is on the toe with my average club speed being around 120mph I can really feel my driver turn in my hands. With this shaft more than others I could feel a huge difference and even see a difference in my numbers. I had a better smash factor and the knickpoint was more suited for my speed and how much I load the club at the top.

Really enjoy walking a round of golf.

Always trying new golf shoes for comfortability and new walking gadgets.

So far for me dispersion and spin consistency are huge factors

Neither of the fitters / fitting outfits that I use south have access to the Areteria Alpha shafts.. One outfit had never heard of them. While an interesting shaft, I don’t really want to travel north to find them to give them ago.. I would be more inclined to go way north and try the TPT shafts… I am not in desperate need of new shafts for the driver and/or 3w just looking and wondering.

It's always possible that they are looking for fitters and want to grow. I know the brand I currently play has said they are open to introductions.

Are the fitters near you fairly decent sized places, individuals, small?

Maybe @GolfSpy_BNG could pass along their info.

Let’s not forget that this is a brand new company(yes the owners have been in the game a long time) and they are just getting going.

@Dead Solid Bogey the designer of this shaft is also the one that designed the Ventus Velocore.  While they may not be in your area right now, I’d expect this shaft to gain traction before long as a couple tour pros (Vijay Singh had it in play at the masters) have started putting it through the paces.

One is a smaller independent outfit, the other is a national franchise store. Thanks for the idea of having them contact Areteria to see if they can make some sort of connection. I would think the national outlet working with Areteria would be a win, win for both.

Been a couple weeks since I updated this. The Aretera continues to impress.  Just so consistent.  Really looking forward to throwing it in the Callaway Smoke AI TD Max 8.5* head that’s coming.

If you are on the fence and don’t at least try this you are losing.  Better for me so far than any Ventus yet.

Been a bit since I updated this. Sorry to those following along but I put this on the back burner while I review the Graphite Design VF for MGS and Graphite Design.   Will update a little when I get some numbers comparing this to the VF but it won’t be in rotation on course for a couple weeks yet.

Very much so. The Alpha One is 69g stiff Untipped and the VF is 56g and Tipped 1.75” so it’s kinda expected but the VF has a noticeable kick compared to the Aretera.  The VF also launches higher by sight and has a right to left ball flight. Haven’t hit both on the same day yet though and will confirm when I do.

Any updates on the lawsuit with fujikura? Wondering if these shafts will be around much longer?

No updates as I’m not following that much. Everybody seems to sue everybody over the smallest thing and then it never amounts to much. Don’t see this being all that different than the others but who knows.

As for the Alpha One Grey, it is officially out of the bag and don’t see it going back in. After playing the VF I very much prefer the kick in the VF so I’m gonna try to snag an Alpha One Blue 55/4 as that will probably be a better comparison.

I plan on concentrating on the VF for the official MGS review but will update here if I grab a blue 55/4.

I will also do a full write up on the Grey/Blue once the GD review is done so stay tuned.

I’ll just end this like this for now. If you like the Ventus Black but want a touch more feel then the grey is perfect for you.

Quick update here. Still doing some testing that will probably move into the winter sim to end the year before any definite choice is made as I hope to add a few shafts to the test.

That said as of now the Alpha One Blue 55/4 is in the driver seat.  Slightly tighter feeling than the VF but still good kick.

Numbers and dispersion have been very nice. Even managed one with 0 side yards lol. Plus it looks killer with the Smoke Ai TD Max.

That dispersion would have been even better had I not been 3 under in the back 9 going into 18 with ob left. I played way right to avoid it lol

Thanks for the updates. I appreciate you being open about these shafts, considering one was in an official test. Of course, it's just you. Who knows what happens for other people. I've never really tried shafts before, but this stuff makes me want to try a bunch.

Looking good!

Thanks for the updates. I appreciate you being open about these shafts, considering one was in an official test. Of course, it's just you. Who knows what happens for other people. I've never really tried shafts before, but this stuff makes me want to try a bunch.

Thanks. I’m hoping to grab a bunch more shafts this winter to do a big test.   If I have another round like I did Sunday Saturday morning the Aretera will be in the bag the rest of the year.   I love the feel of the VF but if my timing is off the kick gets me in trouble.

Im a big believer in shafts making a difference and not just being a timing or fine tuning component.   That said the shafts they use nowadays as stock aren’t nearly as bad as they used to be.   I also like using the all fit adapters for shafts as it allows driver head testing as well without needing new shafts
