Golf "Pet Peeves"

It is an unwritten rule of golf that anytime some one plays through another group they screw up the hole. This is of course because you are rushing. You have to realize that you are rushing and take an extra second or two before the shot to concentrate. It will save time in the long run. But I think every one does it. It is easy to sit here on the couch with the laptop and say, "Take an extra second," but it is hard to do on the course.

 

It's even worse when there are 5 college kids watching you. Luckily as I played the next hole, I saw that they were worse than I was, so I didn't feel like as much of a hack.

I hate it when people won't let u play through because they are pissed off at the world they keep hitting bad shots. You are not proving a point to me by clogging up the golf course. Also bugs me when some of the blue hairs think they own the course and just skip holes and cut in front of everyone. Yeah, no ranger(at least that does his job) at my regular course.

I had a guy one time (in a twosome) who would hit about eight tee shots on each hole. On the fourth tee I was gonna just ask him if I could go through but sure enough they drive off right before I opened my mouth. I didn't feel like dealing with him or bugging the pro shop so I just skipped a few holes and waited on that tee till there was an opening.

I personally cannot stand it when someone cannot discern between a time for seriousness and a time for fun. For example- when I play a friendly round of golf, that is a time I am out to have fun. Honestly, I could care less whose turn it is. Sure I agree with following every aspect of every little thing in a serious match, but when someone can't just ease up a bit and have fun when it's time for fun, It really bothers me. After all, I don't see why you play golf with other people outside of tournaments if not for fun.

I'll give the opposite point of view to this. Probably the worst thing is someone taking their shot while you swinging. Slightly less worse is shooting when you are going through your preshot routine. I'm all for having fun and typically do, but once I setup for my shot, I want to focus.

I love reading through these posts and trying to pick out the guys I don't think I would have fun playing with.

 

No offense intended to anyone here, but I'd say it's about 50/50 right now.

Totally agree with that. No matter what, when someone is taking their shot you are still,serious or fun. I'm talking about in general as a round of golf thos people who don't know how to have fun on the golf course.

I figured you were, it just reminded me of my biggest pet peeve. Someone did it to me while I was swinging and I wound up shanking the ball. I was pissed.

 

But yeah, ready golf is the way to go, if I'm not ready, I have zero problem with someone else taking their swing. It keeps things going smooth.

Thanks for the welcome. Talking about ready golf, I once had someone tell me to replay the shot in match play after he lost his ball in a leave pile and was searching for it. Not serious match play, just a buck for the round. Both of us knew I had a tight schedule, and he was just mad that he was losing. So he decided to attempt to enforce certain rules only to his benefit.

 

Long story short, I haven't played with him since. If your not going to be fun to play with in friendly matches, the. I don't want to play with you.
