Like you, I think most would actually enjoy playing multiple short game shots with different clubs than just pounding ball after ball on the range. Plus short game is much easier on the body. Right now though I’m having an issue with driver and my new glasses. I did everything else pretty well yesterday, actually hit my fairway woods, hybrid great, irons fair, chipped and putting well enough to score. But I’m not going on a golf course again until I get used to these glasses with driver. So I set my hitting net up (had it down for the summer) and hit drivers into it after my stack workout. WaffleHouseTour
My Skillest coach has me working w an alignment stick to prevent me from pulling the club too inside on my intitial take away. The drill was to hold a stick while I’m holding the club and keep it touching my body until it’s at P2 and then clock the wrists so it’s pointing at my target line. I went ahead and drilled a hole into the butt of the grip just large enough so I could fit the stick in there. You basically make a three quarter swing and follow thru. Can’t chicken wing it or you’ll wack yourself w the stick. So far so good. Been working on this drill for the past week. Unfortunately I’ve been neglecting my short game practice and that bit me today. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Some range work today alternating a little with slow feel swings,5, and then full speed, 5, with my 5i. did that 4 sets. Had to adjust my club alignment more towards the heel as i was getting toey. I can feel the lesson work slowly coming in. I still have some EE faults but they don't seem as extreme on video. While i am kind of disappointed with the 5 months of work i have put in, I know that it can take years to retrain the proper movements, so I am trying to keep things into perspective. then did some driver work and shaft testing with face contact and radar. Then did some short game work playing around with lofts from 58 down to my 7 iron at 32*. Wanting to give myself more options to try and get the ball closer to the hole. the past few weeks have had too many skulls with my higher lofted wedges so will only use those if the shot calls for a soft landing, carry over something or in the sand/pitch shot. Finally some putter work. was only working on distance control. Played a little game where from 20ft would see how many two putts i get. I was close to 90% and probably closer to 95% but didnt keep exact count. All i know is i maybe had 1 or 2 three putts. Then finished with some 6 ft putts around a cup and did this 2x. 90% success rate there. RichL85
Yesterday went to the range to work on a few things mentioned by the coach. Spent around 40 minutes to start mostly working on half swings to try to get the feeling needed to close the club face on the way down. I'm finding that I'm having to go through some trial and error to find the thought and feel that corresponds to what the coach wants me to achieve. For example, he wants me to think of basically turning the club face down in the downswing, feeling like the back of my left hand points at the ground. That thought doesn't seem to resonate with me, so I found that by thinking and focusing on just allowing the hands to fall from the top, I was able to achieve the proper movement. For whatever reason, intentional thought on my wrist movement just doesn't work for me. The second half of the time was primarily spent hitting wedges, working on different distances and different heights. I'm pretty sure it's a setup thing with the wedges because I hit some pretty ugly shanks off the hosel, which is normally not my miss. I tend more towards the toe on every other club. Overall I know the wedges are where I should focus the most of my time right now. Finished up with driver because that is the club I'm still trying to get comfortable with. Will keep working on the swing changes and once they are set, I think I'll be in a much better spot to start improving my scores significantly. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude, JerryB and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Titleist GT3 w/ GD Tour AD VF 6S (Testing in progress) 3 & 5 Woods: Titleist GT3 w/ GD Tour AD VF 7S (Testing in progress) Hybrids: 19 and 22 degree PXG 0317XF Gen 4 w/ Project X Evenflow Riptide 80g Irons: 5-PW PXG 0311P Gen 4 w/ KBS Tour 120 Wedges: Indi 50 FLX, 54 FLX, 58 ATK w/ KBS Wedge 610 (Official Review) Putter: PXG Battle Ready Blackjack, 36.5”, Double Bend neck Titleist GT Long Game Testing

edingc
Full bucket in 90 degree heat working on things from my lesson yesterday. Biggest change was a stronger right hand grip. Took almost half the bucket before realizing that when I strengthen my right hand grip I am more likely to roll the clubface open on the back swing. Felt like I was closing the face on the back swing (feel != real) and had some really great results. Noticed that it's much easier to not spin my shoulders open to start the down swing when the my grip is stronger (and I don't open the face on the back swing). sirchunksalot, revkev, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 3 others 6 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 3.6 / Anti-Cap: 9.9 (Last Updated Sept. 1, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. cjeffs12
After a very frustrating putting weekend, I hit the putting green hard this afternoon. My ball striking and overall full swing has been a lot better, so I’ve been hitting more greens. This has exposed my putting, and been a huge weakness the past few rounds. So, today I set up a 3 foot circle and made 50 from 3 feet. Then I kept the circle and worked my lag putting by trying to keep putts in that circle from 20/30/40 feet, each distance on uphill, downhill and breaking putts. Speed has really been an issue during my rounds, so this was really eye opening for me to see. I also, was working on my pre putt routine of aiming the face, setting up around that, look at my line and then hit the putt. sirchunksalot, Syks7, edingc and 4 others 6 1 Quote ZX 5 LS MKII 9.5* Accra TZFIVE 60 M5 Masters Edition ZX MKII 3W 15* Project X HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX U.S.A. 8TX ZX MKII Utility 2 18* Accra TZ FIVE 105D M5 Mizuno Pro 225 4 Fujikura Axiom 105X ZX7 5-PW KBS $Taper 130 BLACK PVD RTX 6 Zipcore 50.10/54.10 Full Project X 6.0 GLIDE 4.0 60.10S DYNAMIC GOLD TOUR ISSUE S400 AI-ONE Cruiser Jailbird 38” TOUR BX NX9 with Slope
russtopherb
Hit a small bucket this morning working on shoulder turn and setup. My miss as this season has progressed has been to the left, hitting draws regularly with irons but landing 10-15 yards left of where I'm aiming. I've been working on just slightly opening the iron clubface at setup then taking my grip, which is resulting in much straighter flight, or a push draw at times. It's very odd to me as someone who missed right for so many years to take this into consideration now. I'm not sure if it's possibly a lie issue or maybe the offset on my irons now that my swing path is reliably in to out, however just slightly opening the face has things going much closer to my target. edingc, cksurfdude, JerryB and 1 other 4 Quote In my Big Max hybrid bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Halo XL 5i-DW CBX 54* & 58* ER5 Tour S

PMookie
Went to the range last night just before they closed the shop so I could take video and send it to my coach. I see why I’m struggling so badly, and it’s the same issue I face every year: getting very steep on the downswing. It’s bad, and it’s a natural tendency I fight every year. The disease in my back that has caused my spine to straighten, along with pretty extensive arthritis in my hips and neck, contribute significantly to the “moves” I make throughout the swing. Mental placebo or potentially real results with heavier weight impacting my tempo and release? tommc23, RichL85, sirchunksalot and 3 others 6 Quote In my Big Max hybrid bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Halo XL 5i-DW CBX 54* & 58* ER5 Tour S

Ballflight starts straight then draws 10-15 yards. I've been compensating by aiming right of target but I don't want to rely on that full time. 11 minutes ago, russtopherb said: So to try something out I hit my son's steel shafted CBX 7i vs my graphite shafted D200. Mental placebo or potentially real results with heavier weight impacting my tempo and release? Here are my thoughts. 1. a 10-15 yard draw might be a bit more than desired, but if consistent you aren’t compensating that draw is your stock shot. Embrace that and aim 10-15 yards right knowing that it should come back. You should also see shots that draw less and draw more as that is your dispersion pattern 2. It is probably related to the weighting and balance of the club and how you respond to it during the swing. I see this fairly regularly when doing most wanted testing. As I rotate through the clubs, ball flights and performance change slightly and there is consistency for each club. As an example I have been doing wedge testing: I had a club that was long and slightly left, one that was pretty consistent at the target distance and one that was generally a short push. This pattern was the same as I rotated through the clubs. Hard to say what’s happening without video with each club, but yeah I would suspects better path or better face angle or release. cksurfdude, russtopherb, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 1 other

Had them for a few years, let my son use them for a bit then moved back to them this season after he outgrew them. Big draw started as a smaller draw probably around my 3rd round of the year as my winter swing rust worked itself out and has gotten bigger since then. As I noted above, I've been compensating for it with aim but it's not something I want to do long-term. No issues with fairways/hybrids or driver, it's mostly 6i-9i and wedges have been OK. sirchunksalot and cksurfdude 2 Quote In my Big Max hybrid bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Halo XL 5i-DW CBX 54* & 58* ER5 Tour S
