fozcycle
I don't know who the guy was that was doing the video "Be Better Golf", but he did not really seem to know what he wanted from the interview with Sam and Adam. He bounced all over the place and did not focus on the Kirkland Ball testing which was his reason for the video. Sam and Adam made almost the identical statement regarding how MGS testing philosopy started, which adds creditibility to the testing process. Adam was also very straight forward and methodical while explaining the testing philosopy. Kudos to MGS for allowing this guy to just come in and get schooled on product testing for the consumer. I really liked the part where Adam said all of the mfg agreed that robot testing was not the best way to test the product. Thanks Guys. PlaidJacket
Here's my take on the interview.... I have now seen Adam for the first time and listened to him speak/talk and watched his mannerisms. I have a completely different opinion of the man. Adam seems like a regular guy to me where as before I had formed a mental picture impression of some type of cocky dude. Just from this one look I'd consider Adam a guy I could probably do business with. I'm quick to judge sometimes and I'm sometimes wrong. Me and Adam have butted heads (slightly) a couple of times over the past few years. No biggie really. I'm a guy.... I get over things and move on. But, now that I have a face to put with this business I have a different opinion. I like what I saw and heard. Maybe one day Adam we'll get out on the course somewhere. I'd like that. Keep up the good work. You should maybe think about/look into some sort of video to go with the most wanted list. The data is great but video evidence and interviews and such could really go a LONG way in both creditability and entertainment. I also think it would gain that much more interest. A lot of us on here will read through the data that is published but a majority of people, I think, would probably rather just watch a 5-10 minute video that summarizes some of the data. Might also push them to read it further. He bounced all over the place and did not focus on the Kirkland Ball testing which was his reason for the video. He is a regular poster in the instruction area on WRX. I think he happened to be in the area since he has recent videos of being in Richmond filming with an instructor and a VLOG about the Kingsmill River course (have to be a resort guest to play). I think this video is pretty typical of his usual videos with him rambling a bit and not really following a script. Overall I enjoyed the video from an information perspective even though I had heard it on the Haney and Breed shows. Hopefully, he tried to get in touch prior to just showing but maybe it was a spur of the moment thing since Adam wasn't aware. cksurfdude
Good vid - really interesting, and did not find the "free form" discussion format a problem at all. Questions were good, and fair, and all the responses were direct and informative. Good going, MGS dudes!! Am intrigued by the mention of new testing protocol that could fit a club to a player based .. only? .. on the metrics of their swing profile. It's unquestionably better to have data indicating whether Club X may be more suitable for Player A vs Player B (vs, eg., the more subjective "Gold List") but ... I would still have to know the numbers on my personal swing profile, which I don't, but also - what about that elusive factor we call "feel"...??? Nothing fancy just talking about how we do things and why we do them and also what is going on behind the scenes. Would you guys like to see that kind of thing? Dare I say it? Ball Testing? Each year ball manufacturers come out with the upgraded ball. We all know that the balls for the most part are probably at the USGA guideline limits for distance, etc. Here is the USGA showing a video of the testing, yes with the proverbial robot we have , of late come to, shall I say "Love"? http://www.usga.org/videos/2015/03/06/testing-golf-balls-for-conformance-4098088465001.html I was fortunate recently to get a full fitting for 3 hours at TaylorMade's Reynolds Kingdom of Golf at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia. One of those once in a golfers lifetime events. Actually bought driver through 60* wedge but that is another story. Part of the fitting was getting the right ball for my swing. The fitter of course had me on Trackman and we hit a variety of balls until we settled on Titlist ProV-1 based on my ball flight which was lower than normal and the spin rate of the ProV-1 vs. the ProV-1x was higher allowing the ball to bite on the green more. All this to say is the testing done here at MGS is done with real golfers with different abilities and swings. It would be great to have 6 guys test 6 different balls and see which perform best for their swings. Ultimately the best approach is for the golfer to spend a bit of money at a fitting site and get properly ball fitted but the MSG yearly ball testing would give most of us a shove in the right direction. Fivesome
I think more videos would be great, from MGS and the members. I thought about doing a video for my unboxing of the Sentio putter, but wasn't sure how that would have been received. I think unboxing's are a great place to let videos from forum members be allowed. Nothing like getting that first impression caught on tape.
