Lately I'm putting a lot of time into my driving game. Some of you know why😜

Seeing more and more of these results is really rewarding.

I'm the furthest forward on the left. From where I took the pic, the Bushnell Phantom read 339 yds 🤯. Those other balls are my playing partners 2nd shots.

Can anybody guess what flex shaft I'm using to get these results? 😁

I hit 4 or 5 really good drives today, but the shot of the day was a drive that went about 265y with the wind at my back. I thought I would get the ball in the photo below but it was further up than I thought. This is 40 yards further than my average and I had a few that were almost as far.20230412_163308.jpg.1c8a9428277795b9c0481ec3e6fdb2cd.jpg

As the weather here has finally turned toward the bearable. Stopping in to hit a bucket on the way home felt like the right play, and friends it did not disappoint. Pictured is the best of the drives I hit for the monthly long drive comp on the Rapsodo MLM. I harbor no delusions of winning it, but it sure is fun to compete

Hole of the day was the par five 16th.  Drive faded left and forced me to punch out from under the trees.  Hit a really good for me 9 iron that wound up just off the collar back and left of the green.

Shot of the day was taking my hybrid to bump it back on; it hit the green perfectly and lagged into the cup for a birdie!

Here's a look at number 8 on East Potomac White. Short par 4 at this gritty muni but cool to have the Washington Monument in the background. Hit my 7 Iron 175 down the fairway, pulled my 54 degree left of the green (which was the theme of the day) but managed an up and down on a pretty straightforward green. Twenty bucks to walk is hard to beat, definitely recommend if you're in the DC area.

Today's hole of the day...they can't all be winners!

For those following along at home, it went as follows

Topped drive (fairway finder!)

3 wood that I flushed but sent right.  Luckily a tree stopped it.

Chunked hybrid that hit another tree.

Hybrid punch out from under said tree.

Badly hooked seven iron.

Duffed pitching wedge where I'll blame the tree branch in my back swing.

Lob wedge that came up short but rolled onto the green.

Surprisingly decent two putt!

Screenshot_20230421-141506-993.png.041a9404191084988c4a637d6e6b53ea.png

On another topic, along the left side of the picture is the country club next door; note the marked difference in the richness of the green colors!

And speaking of green, see that green circle near the bottom right, just above my driver marker?  That's a pond.  It separates the tee box and green on the second hole.  I've watched people fish balls out of there 🤢

I play a 9 hole muni once or twice every summer in the town my grandparents live in and it’s right next door to a semi private course operated by Oliphant Golf (big course management place here in Wisconsin). Reminds me of that so much lol. They’ve got a GIGANTIC practice area right across the road that’s nicer than most of the fairways and greens on the muni 😂

This was a drive on a 260y par 4. Needed a bigger bounce to get on.

Short armed my chip and missed an 8ft birdie. Smh.

A very downhill/side hill lie in the rough, but managed to flush a 7 iron onto the green. Lipped the birdie, and easy par.

the 7 iron was one of those shots where you hardly even feel the ball, but it hisses back at you as it leaves your club

Number 18 a par 5 hit a nice drive, had 150 yds to clear the lake 260 to the green. Hit a worm Burner 3 wood short of the lake, had 178 left to the green. Hit 4 hybrid at middle of green, looked really nice. Can't find ball, looked in cup, it's in the hole for an eagle.

I chipped in from 37 out  for Birdie on a 423yd  par 4. I had a nice drive setting me up right on top of a hill. My second shot got me over an embankment, and down towards the green which sits about 30ft below where my tee shot landed. I was 37yds out to the right of the hole next to the cart path when I one of the best shots that I have hit in a long time. My son was on the other side in disbelief!Chipin.jpg.37fa1c3b412086f15d996684fc5db7a8.jpg

In my league last night on 11, a par 3 playing about 165, I pushed my iron and it caught the top of a tree right and short.  None of us saw the carom, and that usually means it's straight down into the creek. We approach the green, and it's not only on the green, I got closest to the pin.

I had shoulder surgery last year and was out for the entire season. I've just started playing again in the past few months, but living in Colorado it's just been some subpar winter golf. I've been shocked at how hard it has been to come back from surgery. The good news  is that every round I've played has been better than the last, especially in the last few days with the grass getting green. This was yesterday at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado. A tricky par five that plays quite a bit uphill and really dares you to take on the water down the right side. I don't think I could've cut it closer and still carried. Here's a flyover too. I was pretty excited to get my first eagle in what feels like an eternity. It's probably been two years?

Shot of the day yesterday was a short wedge shot from 56 yards out. Currently the worst area of my game. Put it to 11 feet and sunk the birdie putt. Had to scramble after a bit so great drive, luckily being a par 5 helped.

2nd hole at Kapiti 168 metres hit 3 wood about 166, 9 metres left of hole just stayed on the green another 2 feet left and I’m off the green with a difficult 😥 chip. Lip out and bogey but was still on cloud ☁️ 9 first time I’ve hit the green and stayed 😂

My head shadow is where I tee’d the ball 🏈 make the photo bigger you can see the flag and the ball just…

My hole of the day was the par four 14th at River Heights.  Nothing too special but it's only the second time that I've managed to get par.  Hit a solid drive.  Since my irons are unkind, I pulled my short hybrid and hit a runner that didn't quite run far enough.  But my PW was up to the challenge, putting me within a couple feet where I knocked the putt home to save par.

This one was funny all around. First, I have a slice that I'm trying to claim is a fade. I don't hit a draw, ever. Trackman claims I smashed a 312 yd draw today that careened off the left side of a cliff and kept going nearly 80 yards to come to rest just left of the green, down a steep slope.

Somehow that's not OB.

2nd swing was a PW that I smacked. 58y according to the super scientific digital p.o.s. in brush 3rd shot sideways, 4th sideways, etc.

Had 2 holes like that today, but was +4 on the 16 holes I didn't feel gas lighted by inadequate mechanics.

So yesterday i had some free time to kill before my evening plans so i decided to grab my clubs and go hit the par three next to my house its a tough slanted green over water  that you have to hit high and let it roll down and i came closer then i ever have for a hole in one i did also hit it 5 times just practicing and it was on number four but still proud of the shot as my ball stopped about a foot from the hole

Toss up for me but because this includes the shot of the day it’s gotta be it.
Hole 9 uphill par 5. Solid drive but into rough. Got a decent enough lie to pull my 21* UW. Tried to hit a draw and hit a low bullet that actually rolled thru the back of the green. I was amazed this club went so far from that lie. Chip and two putt of easy par.
