Walk up songs....on the PGA tour (!)

So it looks like the tour is trying to inject a bit of fun into things now that the Masters is over and we can all remove our pipes and take off our cardigans.  

 

Each pairing in the Zurich gets to choose a walk up song (similar to baseball I suppose) for the first tee.

 

What do you think....

(for the record I think it is cool and I like it)

I recognize a lot of stuff from the 80s and a few of the newer songs. Fun thing for this tournament but not something I would do for all events.

Johnson Wagner with Enter Sandman!!!!!!!!!!  Virginia Tech grad going with the greatest entrance in all of college athletics!

I also just noticed, Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly going with "As Good As I Once Was" by Toby Keith.

I must say, some inspired choices on that list. Big fan of "Make Em Say Uh" and "Down Under". Love the "Careless Whisper" pick, and sneaky weird, but sneaky good... JT and Cauley going with "Cricle of Life" from The Lion King. 

 

Now on the first tee, the reigning FedEx Cup Champion Justin Thomas, and Bud Cauley... "NANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BABA!" That's a fantastic mental image.

I'm an older/classic rap/hip hop guy so I'd have a hard time between these:

 I think both would get the crowds pumped up...and me too!

Yeah, i think we might all be "men of a certain age"  But I definitely remember some of those from the 80's as Cnosil said.    Some of them are classic, I mean the opening riff to Enter Sandman is Perfect for this type thing!   I can see the atmosphere around the 1st tee on Saturday being a lot like the 16th at Waste Management Open.   Again once or twice a year I have no problem with things like this.

Sounds like a fun idea. I like it for the first tee. A great way to encourage the players to bring a little bit of their personality to the course/event without affecting their focus on their round.

As a random aside, I thought the hook for Here Comes The Hotstepper was, "Here comes the hotstepper, bur rid a duh". I was ashamed to learn last year on an episode of Beat Shazam, that my "bur rid a duh" was actually the word "murderer" and I had singing the hook wrong for nearly 20 years. Makes me laugh now, but I was straight gutted.

Man, am I getting old for I have never heard of three quarters of the songs listed.   Perhaps, the list would be a bit different on the Champions tour.   I particularly like:  Reed/Cantley-Eye of the Tiger;  Stricker/Kelly-Good As I Once Was; and Varner III/Garrigus-Ebony and Ivory.  

 

Personally, I have been known to sing (I can't get no) Satisfaction by the Stones on the golf course.

Maybe the Tour should play a second track after they hit the first drive

I don't personally have anything against it but I don't think it'll catch on either, not right now at least. I'm gonna go with a mix of Fun/what the. I like how they're trying stuff, you're either going forwards or backwards right... maybe? Gonna be interesting to see what this leads to for sure.
