Ugly round tonight.  My 9 hole league was cancelled since they couldn't let carts out but a few of us ended up walking 18 holes (beats work and spending time at home with the family ).  It was like playing in a swamp.

The course was an absolute mess and my game was completely sporadic.  Started out with a solid 38 only to completely lose my swing and finish with a 44 for an 82 total.  On the bright side it was an equitable stroke control 81 since a triple bogey turned into a double once I posted the score.

I planned on playing a few more rounds with my current clubs but at this point I may need to switch directly to the Cobras for the extra bit of help.  At least the Evnroll putter seems to be working well.

Solid back 9. Did you miss a lot of fairways or get penalties? Because I can't imagine with the extra length you have from the SuperSpeed, that you didn't have a enough distance for a solid driving handicap.

My SuperSpeed enhanced swing turned into a banana slice swing.  It's really difficult to crush drives when they have 50 yards of curvature and zero roll from wet conditions.

Interesting that I searched for Golf Banana Slice and this was one of the first images to pop up.  Might have to print out a lifesize cardboad cutout if he makes the Ryder Cup in Wisconsin next year.

Well there's no more avoiding it.  I've posted pics of every club in the bag besides the King F9 Speedback irons.

From the Cobra website: "SPEEDBACK™ Technology pushes the boundaries of conventional iron shaping to optimize low CG and high MOI, creating Cobra’s longest, fastest and most forgiving iron."  Here are a couple of pics of the 5 iron before I give my thoughts.

From my own dumb brain: "Man these things are gigantic and ugly."

Should looks matter in a game that is only about the number you write down on the card?  Absolutely not.  Unfortunately the human brain is wired to make snap judgments based solely on appearance.  Here are the Cobras compared to my current Titleist 714 AP2.  The topline is quite a bit thicker and the sole is basically double the size!

I understand that the large back cavity is technology that is meant to help get the ball airborn and be forgiving, but I don't want to visually see that technology in my scoring clubs when I'm standing over the ball.  Below is a top down view of the 7 iron.  Normally with a 7 in my hands I'm thinking about a precision swing to go flag hunting.  I don't get that same feeling with the Cobras.

I know what you are thinking.  Boo hoo Bucky; complain a little more about free clubs that you haven't even had a chance to hit on a real course yet .  To that I say you are 100% correct.  MGS and Cobra provided us with an absolutely fantastic opportunity to test and keep these great clubs.  I shouldn't make any snap judgments before I get a chance to fully test them out and see how they perform.  Plus it's not like I'm the best iron player in the world.  I could use a little help.

I did have one range session with everything.  The irons feel (have to stop using that word) very clunky next to my forged irons but I was seeing a nice high ball flight with minimal side spin.  They are also very long when struck well.  Cobra did a great job making a quality iron for under $1000.  I just don't know if they are right for me...

Gaming the Launcher HB irons I understand where you are coming from.  My results with big ole clubs has been great.  I hope you have the same results with the Cobras.

Feel is such a tricky word in the golf world. We all were taught that it matters in every decision we made, but the testing that MGS has done has proven that it doesn't mean squat.

I get where you're coming from with needing to stop using the word, "feel." It's a hard habit to break.

It is difficult. Team Kiwi is strong, the politician is an interesting choice. Bucky is taking great pictures with great commentary. 153 is certainly a quieter choice, but he is the assassin. And Bardle is swinging the ONE lengths.
