KOG
Hearing Stu talk about the Max Wedges, I decided to revisit mine and put a DG Wedge shaft, new ferrule and blue Pure Pro grip on this 52, which has seen about a month of use. Still great looking wedges and about to take it out today... Trying to decide on 52 or 54 + 58 and curious as I got them week they were dropped and have been using mostly Vokey wedges past couple years and saw big improvements in my wedge game so curious. And just a pic from when I got them to show how nice these look. I just literally built this one and added the grip Thursday so I haven't had it out yet. I've been using the Winn NTP 1.10 on my PTM 5 which I absolutely love. It's quite heavy and counterbalances the putter nicely. It also has no taper and is a nice square shape without being too big which I love. I kind of bought into the gimmick of the reverse-taper and ordered it on a whim so not sure what to think yet. I got the exact one that you have. Med-round. I'm hoping to have it out this weekend. It feels good in my hands but I really don't know if it'll do anything amazing for my putts. IndyBonzo
I posted this in the Otto-Phkex thread, but wanted to share it here too for those interested. Had a good time today having my 84 yo father hit some OP shafts in the garage sim. He has a slow swing speed, and struggles getting driver and fairway woods up in the air. First we worked on tilting to the right a bit and hitting up on the ball, and that helped some. The highest lofted club I had handy was a 9° Epic Flash LS lofted to 11°. When he hit the Maltby M890 LL flex, it was like a eureka moment. He instantly gained significant shot height and 20-30 yards. I cut it to his preferred 45” length and am sending it home to Florida with him for Father’s Day. I am excited to hear how he hits it with the Epic Flash Star 12° head my brother and I got him a year ago. We also ordered him another M890 for his 3 wood. Maltby’s claims for this shaft ring true. https://www.golfworks.com/maltby-m890-graphite-wood-shafts/p/ma0311/ GolfSpy SAM, azstu324, Shrek74 and 3 others 5 1 Quote Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there. Deadwalleye
Well I built up a set of TS3's on a set of 65 gram regular flex Dart shafts. Took them out on Sunday for a test spin. Before the 1st tee I compared them to my buddies set of Srixon ZX7's and from the top looking down there is no difference. If you did not know which iron was which, you would have a hard time telling the TS3 from the ZX7 by just looking down from the setup position. I will say that I prefer this set over the TS1 IM set I built earlier. I cant say I scored lights out, but for the first time out with them I was very happy with the performance. Now I wish it would stop raining so that I can get out for another round. My friend that plays the Srixon's is a -1 handicap and his reaction was that he could play these with no problem at all if the shaft were a better match for him. But even that the 8 iron that he hit a couple with, the shaft was surprisingly stout for a R flex shaft. Michael.Sandoval33
Thanks fellas, I will definitely check with GW beforehand with the hopes they can handle the accommodation. Expecting a little fee surely, but well worth it if you ask me. I'm interested in the RT shafts as well. Truthfully, the wedge heads were an afterthought. I have multiple Edison wedges and I bought the shaft's to match the Rapid Tapers I play in my TS4's. I decided to buy these heads at the last minute instead of pulling apart my Edison's thinking it is a inexpensive experiment and I can always put them in the Edison's if I don't like them. I will update my thoughts on the shafts here and in the RT thread once I get some time with them.
