Ireland Course Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I am working on planning my Dad's 60th birthday trip to Ireland. If anyone has gone yet, please send recommendations of courses, itinerary, places to stay etc. Thanks in advance!

Plan is to hit old head and ballybunnion but everything else for 7 more days is fluid!

I've read Old Head is majestic, but a merely "good" golf course.  Ballybunion really is brilliant.  Waterville is really really good.  Dooks is really solid.  Tralee is much newer, but has really insane (in a good way) terrain on the back 9.  Lahinch (across the Shannon to the north a bit) is my favorite golf course in Ireland.  For lodging that's semi-central, consider the Killeen House Hotel on the hillside overlooking Killarney.

The NLU crew did a tourist sauce in Ireland and had some great courses and recommendations... worth checking out? I've never been so can't really give much advice unfortunately. Very jealous of you and better take lots of photos and share them here for us all to drool over!

Hi @GolfSpy_TCU

Depending where you are staying, there is a ton of courses around for you to play

For me, it depends on the level of course difficulty aswell. The lower half of the country has some beautiful courses on the coast with varying levels of difficulty

The NLU crew did a great job of sampling some of the better, and affordable, courses and some of the entertainment

If you want to challenge yourself, Lehinch is the 3rd hardest course in Ireland.
