Good (late) morning! 425 wake up, shoulder session done in the gym. After my Dad's ring ceremony yesterday I took him to the sim where we got about an hour of swings each in. It was great to spend some time with him and share half the day. Catching up on several projects today, then getting to watch my daughter's orchestra concert this evening. Should be a fantastic day, and I hope yours is as well. Go get some and make today great!

Good place to watch the WM from. Going north on the 101 to get there will be horrible. They now have the 101 necked down to 1 lane about 3 miles from the exit you need to get to the WM. The road there will be backed up for 10 miles or better all weekend and creeping along in the single digit mph. My truck is up getting worked on at a dealership on the same exit. If they call and say it is ready I may leave it there until Monday. 

Going to add a shaped rebar keeper to my golf bag carriage on my golf cart this morning. If I hit a big bouncing bump too fast it has a tendency to bounce  the bag out of the 3/4 inch keepers I put on the sides of the carriage. The 5/8 inch rebar will give me an inch + of height to hold the bags in place. 

Went over to the PXG shop in Mesa yesterday to talk with them about military discounts and have a look at their hybrids. Ended up getting fitted for a 5 hybrid in their latest and greatest line, the Black Ops, for a very reasonable price! It is a sweet buttery smooth hitting club that lands exactly where I need that 5 to land. I pick it up in Scottsdale next week sometime. Might make it to the driving range later today, if not I will play tomorrow.

Happy for my son. Tonight is his last night as the night desk clerk of a hotel in @BKervin territory, Pawleys Island SC. Monday morning he starts a new job at a nearby hotel that hasn't even opened yet. He'll still work nights, some, which is OK with him, but during the process of getting the hotel ready for a March grand opening he will work a lot of days, which he hasn't done since a summer job in college. But this new job is definitely a promotion for him. Something his old man has never had; I've changed jobs a lot, lateral moves, downward moves or doing entirely different, but I've never been promoted.

Congrats to your son!  As a former Hilton GM for 20 plus years and having opened many hotels, I'd be happy to be a sounding board for him if needed, feel free to PM me and I'll give you my contact info if you want to pass it on to him.    Opening hotels are a very definitive thing.  Once you're done, you say one of two things.  That was great, where's the next one I can't wait to get after it or Never Again!  Don't even ask!!  Ha   I was obviously in the former area. 

Good Morning to everyone else...Going to get some unseasonable warm temps here the next few days, and I have so much to do work wise, but also so many new clubs to try out, the driver shootout,  the new SM10 wedges that came in and a project that I'm working on that I can talk about in a couple weeks perhaps.

Why is cleaning out the garage the worst part @ILMgolfnut?  I've been dreading it, even after saying here in the GMT that I was getting it done - it's only partially done.  Work permitting, Saturday is the day!

Good morning everyone! Another sunny (yet windy) day in Oklahoma today as I work from home and stare from my desk out onto the course... I got some good practice in yesterday, really working on chipping and then spending 45 minutes or so on driver and 3 wood at the end. I will say that I beyond lost on my iron distances right now as I haven't had enough time to dial them in on the course so I have tried to do so on the range, but we all know how trustworthy range balls can be... I'll be out on the course tomorrow afternoon and will try to throw a few balls down at 150 and 175 and if I can figure those two distances out I will be in good shape!

Happy Friday Eve!

Sunny today and warmer. I think I like global warming, er, climate change or whatever they call it now. In any case, a nice day in February. Feels like false spring. Got two new rocking chairs for the front porch and had coffee there this morning. Nice cool morning listening to the birds. Really feels like spring. Hoping to get out later and hit a few.

Today is National Boy Scouts Day. For those that didn’t have the opportunity to grow up camping or cutting yourself with a pocket knife, you don’t know what you were missing. I think we need more of this type of outdoor activity for our young ones. That, and more golf camps. Give them something physical to do other than stare at a tiny screen.

Thankful today that I have this community to be a part of and as a resource of information.

Have a lot of work ahead of me today. A long meeting presentation from noon-3p and then data analysis on an interrogation I did of our top sellers for sales kickoff in Dallas end of the month. Should be interesting.

If you saw my garage, you'd understand. We moved in here in June, and a bunch of stuff never got unpacked then; it was left in the garage. Plus the GF is addicted to retail therapy, and every box she gets with a new delivery gets unpacked and then thrown in the garage. There is an unbelievable amount of cardboard in there. She says anything she hasn't unpacked by now can be carried away, but I know better; during my first attempt at reducing the clutter I found a bunch of pictures from her childhood (both her parents are deceased). So I will have to continue going through things and make sure nothing special gets tossed out. But what does get tossed is gonna go straight to the local landfill, which will require me renting a truck to carry it all, hopefully in one trip. That includes some furniture that is no longer salvageable, etc.

Woke at 5:30 AM, my normal time when I worked, had my Diet Pepsi (this is my coffee). Had stem cell work done to both knees, so I hope to be able to start on the simulator this week or next. Looking forward to a new year of golf with NO knee pain. After watching the news I will putt for an hour. Then do my part time job and then call to schedule the simulator.

My wife begs me to clear the " junk" out my garage all the time. I have "stuff" in there from 15 years ago or better that I just can't part with. I may just need that particular item someday, since I needed it that 1 time,  15 years ago. Some of the stuff I have I should throw out or donate because I don't own the things it went to anymore

I was a Boy Scout too, and enjoyed it. But there were far too many adults who took the opportunity to prey on the kids under their supervision. My ex-brother in law was one of those victims. Don't know what can be done about that, other than screening those people a lot more closely, but it sure doesn't make Scouting more attractive.

I do most of my work "in the dirt" so to say and by watching the best players at my level and how they are striking the ball etc.

Launch monitors are good and bad.  The most difficult part is understanding the numbers and not simply chasing some specific value.  It is like the <30* wedge launch.  You probably do this already as you look at the actual window you are launching the ball.  you don't need a launch monitor to tell you that you are hitting the ball correctly.

As someone who grew up golfing without launch monitors, I have to say they have been game changing for me. Being able to practice in my home and get precise data blows my mind. I think of all the time I spent hitting and collecting balls at the local school yard, and how much faster I am improving now.

Good Morning Spies, SoCal rain has finally ceased.  Look at the beauty left behind near our mountains.  Golf courses around my area are open to cart path and walking only due to the soggy conditions.  Looking forward to my tee time this Saturday hoping the course conditions will improve by then.

First step: Got the Garmin out and charging. Because the charging cord is only about a foot long, the bathroom sink was the only place I could find close enough to an outlet.

Second step: Paired the Garmin with my phone using the Garmin Golf app. Which should allow me to use it outside this afternoon if I wished.

Oh heck yeah love love love early 50s styles - all that metal in all those extra big rounded curves and all that unnecessary bright chrome...  There was that one Caddy in there that for me was "the show stopper"!

And I think your last statement was directed at @cnosil, not me - he just suffered through a major surgery and is now recovering .. and WILL BE (or else gawdammit!  ) rebuilding his strength and his game going into May!!!

A few years ago had the left hip replaced and later found out the right leg was then slightly shorter. Had a 2mm heel lft on that side but this new chiro switched me to 5mm .. and I feel like that's really helping.

Was curious about that also. My best guess = you touch those big buttons with the butt of your club to control or select options in the sim (ie don't need to use a keyboard or mouse, or touchscreen or whatever other input device is being used).

 

Yes sir,  I am eager to get back to playing golf but know that it will be a while.   I will definitely be playing golf at Kingmill but can't guarantee that it will be good golf.
