Looking at new grills since the one we have is busted and one of the burners doesn’t work anymore. Plus the grill grates will need to be replaced as well. That’s not to mention that it’s becoming unsturdy due to having to keep it outside at our last house. Had a cover for it until a bad windstorm came and then we didn’t have a cover for it anymore as it was damaged. We got it in 2021 and is now late 2024 so just over 3 years of use. Looking at some from Home Depot, but also not trying to break the bank. anyway, hope everyone has a great day. Get some rest! I have had our weber for over 12 years. At year 10 I replaced all the burners, the diffuser covers and added adjustable grates. All under hundred dollars off Amazon. Now the side panel on one side of the body cracked and flames began to Come through recently. I had a friend tack weld a 3x8" piece of 1/4" steel on the inside. Still functions as it should. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! Well my wife reacted to getting a flu shot in one arm and a covid in the other yesterday. We buried her under a mountain of blankets so she could get past the chills. She is better this morning but hurts head to toe. She was shivering so hard for so long, all her muscles are over taxed today. Next year we will have to spit up her fall shots. 4 days and counting and golfing resumes. I have ridden my bike along the cart paths and it looks in good shape. I am running the Wild Bunch a lot more and will look at trying to make it more fun for the guys who have, for whatever reason, lost a lot of distance. I am thinking to allow the guys to move up to the forward tees on the par 5s (one of these is often set at over 550 yards and is impossible for a player who's best drive is 180 yards to get a green in regulation) and a couple of the par 4s. It will take some math, some finagling, and explaining this will be like trying to explain partial differential equations to 7 year olds. But it will make it a lot more fun for the short hitters. Popular Post jbern
Good afternoon! I drove to Cleveland yesterday for work meetings and decided to stay for a few more meetings than required, so I wasn't able to find time to golf in any capacity. There was a Top Golf pretty close by, but I felt weird going there during dinner time by myself! I ended up driving back through Sandusky and went to a delicious restaurant on a bay there. There is no golf on my schedule for the future, but I am looking forward to the weekend! It will be a family weekend where we have quite a few family activities queued up and plan to explore Michigan a little bit! Have a nice day! Popular Post RichL85
Good morning all. It's been a busy week with work travel and lab testing taking up large portions of my week. The lack of sleep is starting to catch up to me a bit as we are moving into the later part of the week. Daughter was feeling better this morning, so it looks like she may have just had a short bug. Luckily everyone else in the house seems to have avoided it and we managed to keep it to just the one person. Still waiting to hear back about the last interview I went through, not that I really expect much, and with my wife looking at a promotion in her near future, there's likely very little chance of a relocation happening, but it would be a nice little confidence boost to make it to the next step in the process. Clearly I am out of the family information loop because it turns out one of my cousins passed away in a house fire over the weekend. Can't say it's surprising that I didn't hear about it because it's been about 9 years since I've visited that area. I think we are pretty much over 2024 by now with everything that has happened honestly. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good Friday morning everyone! First off, my condolences to both @CFreddieand @RichL85 I'm sorry to hear of the losses you both have experienced. It's tough losing someone you're close to and we're here for the both of you if you need us. Today's another non production Friday and it was hard getting out of bed to come in and know it's going to be nothing but busy work. I like to eat and them groceries aren't going to pay for themselves, so here I am. I'm hoping to play 9 after work and then we have to get ready for the new oven arriving tomorrow. We put the old oven on FB marketplace for free so I'm going to have to get out ready to go. I had a fun time on the community call and enjoyed watching the YouTube video of @GolfSpy SAM... Love the new profile pic, btw, doing his best voiceover work. I hope y'all have a good day! Hit 'em straight if you get to play! Hate that for your wife. I am allergic to flu shots for some reason. When I was in Navy boot camp (50 years ago now) I took all the standard shots. I got sicker than I had ever been. Had to go to sick call. This old Navy doctor told me it was the flu shot. I ended up in sick bay for 3 days. That old doctor told me to never take a Flu shot again. I have not since. You would not believe the flack I have taken in the years since for refusing to take one. One company I worked for in the late 70s early 80s provided flu shots. The owner's son threatened to fire me over not taking one. I had my records, and I told him "Make my day fire me". I have caught some flack over the phone from my Medicare insurance people from turning one down. I made a copy of the old report plus my Doc sent a cover letter to them. I got a call from them last year about this time plugging a flu shot. I asked the lady if she did not look or did they not file stuff. I told her it was supposed to be on file that I was allergic to Flu shots. They had been sent a letter from my Doc and a copy of my old medical report. I further told her they got the letter from my Doc the next one they would get would be from my lawyer. Have not heard zilch since. Both of us also refused to take the Covid shots too and guess what? Neither one of us got covid either. You watch TV and they are always wanting to jab you with some kind of shot to "prevent" something. One of my buds on the other forum is a somewhat accomplished pianist. He told me of finger stretching exercises pianist do. I checked with my music director at church, and she said yes and showed me. I do them every day as my warmup routine. I have not had any problems since. Of course, I have not pulled many wrenches in the last 12 years much either. I still do them, and it does get the blood and feeling flowing. Now on days I get the shakes I can do nothing about it because that is related to the nerve damage in my back. Popular Post BIG STU
Up this morning kicking slowly. It is 43* here but is supposed to warm up to the 70s today. Probably about the time we finish playing. I am in the Friday League Spin off game. A bunch of the guys cancelled Wednesday but we do have 7 on the list for today. I did go over yesterday about 11 or so to pay my entry fee for next week's tournament. On Tuesday and Thursday, they have a Mandatory Half and Half drawing. It is $2 and half goes to the winner and the other half goes to the league. I did not play golf but the guy running it said I could play the half and half anyhow I remarked to him you know I had won it 2 times this year when I did not play golf. He laughed. Guess What? I won it again. Won $25 because the field was slack. LOL that paid my entry fee. I told the guys I loved it playing the tournament on "house money". Big Boy got up on schedule so we got our walk going and done. I have already done one warm up and will do some more at the course. I missed the CC last night because frankly I forgot about it. My wife worked Wednesday night so she was in bed. I had went to the course and had only eaten a 20 gram Cliff protein bar. I had done some short game practice and was a little cold and hungry. Stopped by Wendy's and got me a big container of Chili and also had a plain double cheeseburger. I went home settled into my chair to watch golf and went to sleep. I know you guys are saying Stuey your diet. Naah still kept it under 2100 calories for the day. I got up about 5 or so went outside and hit 50 balls or so into the net. Did not eat any supper last night so the diet is I think intact Edited October 18 by BIG STU Banana Fingers strikes again EnderinAZ, William P, EasyPutter and 15 others 18 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G
Popular Post EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies from the clear sky nearly full moon brightness of a cool autumn Friday early on this Friday, busiest workday about to kick in with computer going online. Coffee almost ready and zero commute is the blessing - this afternoon going to WNY National Cemetery for remembrance and thanks for serving to those interred. Thoughts extended to @CFreddie and @RichL85 for those close to heart. Yesterday's round was a surprise of seeing so many golfers on the course, and the starter fit me into a foursome. Was the first day the clubhouse was open this week, carts available, there were 4 booked tee times by a summer league getting back for one more round, we were behind the last league foursome, and they had succumbed to slow play. We skipped the 7th par 3 to finish before sunlight became an issue for a 2 hour 30 minute 9 holes. I had jumped on the community call for the time we were on the 4th tee box about 4:15 but it soon became apparent it was a good idea to be thankful for the few minutes spent sharing views of the gorgeous day and the cart bag in testing and then return focus to the game at hand, sounded like a great time for sure. Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning Spies! Finally made it to Pinehurst after our flight getting delayed nearly 90 minutes and the rental car agency double booking everything. Luckily the guy at the counter was a golfer and managed to find the last SUV available for us on the lot (we were told when we arrived that all that were left were electric vehicles). Today’s rounds include Tot Hill Farm this morning, followed by an afternoon tee time at Pinehurst #9. We’ll grab a quick bite to eat in between rounds and then hit up the Thistle Dhu putting course after the later round before dinner at the 1895 Grille. Should be an awesome day. Sending my condolences to @CFreddieand @RichL85 for your losses. Hope everyone has a great Friday! Popular Post Dcfrench3
Been a bit since I've had something to post. Flying out to San Diego for a wedding today. This will be my first time traveling with clubs so fingers crossed I packed everything correctly and student forget my driving wrench to put my driver back together. Hate that feeling I get before a fight where I'm feel like I'm forgetting something. Going to be playing at the golf course aatthe Welks resort tomorrow afternoon. Been roughly 2 months since my last golfing trip and really looking forward to it. Hope everyone had happy greens! Back when I was turning wrenches some, I started having problems in my fingers. Maybe your therapist has you doing similar exercises Yes, the PT folks have me doing a series of exercises for fingers, elbow & shoulder/spine. It’s working slowly. There’s some feeling coming back in my 4th finger. Popular Post revkev
Good morning Spy’s the cooler weather is a God send for us - won’t have AC until Monday at the earliest- my neighbor lost 1/3 of their roof and pieces of it took the AC out. Slept great last night - well fair according to the Garmin - for the first time since Milton. Prayers for my friends in PT particularly Rick and Big Stu. Our courses have reopened - I just don’t have the time to play / I will at least hit the range if not the course for 9 tomorrow. Need a little break. Have a great day all - it was nice to transition from tearing stuff apart to putting it back together yesterday. The picture is from less than a minute after they jet us back into the sanctuary to screw the pews back in. A crew was in working on the church floor over night. We are literally at it 24/7. Popular Post revkev
So that was yesterday - never hit send - here’s today and thoughts are prayers for our spies who lost friends or family members recently. Have a great Friday - I’m hoping to get my backyard net set back up and maybe even sneak a range session in. That space had 2 to 4 inches of dirty, dank category 3 hurricane water in it a week ago. Popular Post Hickory4ever
I played in Guttyfest yesterday, one of our pre 1900 events that requires the use of replica gutta percha balls. It is always a good time experiencing how golf was played in the early years in North America. I have my play set from this era worked out and have finally found a putter to my liking. @BIG STU, you would have enjoyed the experience as it requires a lot of creativity. I had a personal best playing these clubs (7 over) thanks to acquiring a putter that has the right feel. My WITB included two replica transitional woods, four smooth faced original irons and a putter. I hope everyone has a good day. Today is our regular Hickory Friday and I have not decided which of my 1920’s “sets” will be used. Always a blast.
