Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good morning everyone and happy 4th! I'm just getting my morning started with a cup of coffee and a pet pile on my lap. They do seem to miss us while we're asleep and I have to spend time letting them know we still love them. I'm smoking a meatloaf this evening and had to go on an adventure yesterday to find a muffin pan to cook it in. @Wheelieb I'm in the same boat as you with the yard, it hasn't rained in a while and I haven't mowed in close to a month. I think we're supposed to get some tomorrow and I'm debating on taking care of it today. @ILMgolfnut safe travels and have fun! I hope you all enjoy the holiday and time with your families. Popular Post fixyurdivot
Top of the pot spies . Well, while one data point is not a trend, I might have found the answer to getting my golf game turned in the right direction... that is go fishing for a week . Yesterday, I shot a 75 (69 net) during our men's league 2-man BB event, my partner shooting a 73 (69 net). We ended up -9 and took 1st place. Prior to the brief hiatus, my scoring was going the wrong direction. Perhaps too many swing thoughts and not just over thinking the game... something I think many of us tend to do. And there are a few roundabouts around the Casa so I've gotten some practice there, although you're circling them in the opposite direction. My main driving issue in Scotland was dealing with those one-lane B and C roads where you have to pull over at "passing places" and let oncoming traffic go by, or they let you go by. Either way, a bit unnerving. I try to avoid B roads when I can. William P, Cfhandyman, Preeway and 8 others 10 1 Quote Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb. UNLESS you enter tournaments. I paid 60 pounds to enter Saturday's tournament at Royal Dornoch. Rack rate for tourists is 280 pounds. There are sites you can look for tournaments including Happy Golf and Golf Empire; the list for the coming year comes out right around New Year's. Basically I picked this week for my trip because there were a lot of tournaments at courses I wanted to play. But playing the "hidden gems" is awesome too. The tour buses skip them, but they're still authentic links golf and fun as hell. Like Machrihanish, Golspie, Brora and Shiskine. I'm playing Golspie and Brora this time. Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Always something department: I'm taking my golf clubs and a carry-on suitcase; my rented cottage has a washing machine so I can wash clothes and didn't have to pack so much. Checking the golf bag. But I weighed the travel case on my bathroom scale and it weighed 58 pounds. Airline charges extra for more than 50 pounds. Hmm, what can I get rid of. Opened it up, dug in there and found two extra boxes of balls; also thinned out my bands for Fit For Golf from five down to two. Weighed it again; it was 46.5. I don't think those two boxes of Srixons weighed 12 pounds, but I have quite a few dimpled orbs in my bag pockets, and if the gorse eats them all, they do sell golf balls in Scotland. Probably for less than the overweight bag charge would have been. Now hoping my scale is accurate and I didn't thin it down to, say, 52.
