JCruz
I would expect a glove to last at least 10 or so rounds. It also depends on how I care for it. I normally keep a ziploc bag in my bag for gloves. I noticed if I store it in there after play or range, it keeps its flexibility and softness. I noticed when I don't do that, and just throw it in my bag or in the armrest of my truck that it gets hard and the grip becomes slippery. If you wear it for a little it will soften up but usually changes shape due to it drying stiff. Quote -JC golfs in AZ
Randall Robbins
I have a rotation of about 5 gloves and that will last I to next year. richk9holes
I added 2 synthetic Callaway X tech to the rotation for practice time. When I play a serious round I like a white leather glove, Mizuno Elite is the best I found in $10-12 range but I will try sub70 at some point as I'm always looking at their site. Used one of the X techs today, the fingers get wrinkled, but after a minute rubbing them and gripping the club the feel comes back pretty well. I've been using the same 2 for practice rounds, bad weather golf and the driving range for about 4 months and the first holes are starting to appear in the tips of the fingers in one. Using the Mizunos 1-2 times a week I get a fresh one about every 2 months, so agree with 10 rounds perhaps a couple more. I also pop out a new one if I am playing a tournament, regardless of the condition of the current one, then rotate the two until one hits the criteria in the first sentence. They last me a few months. I generally use anything on sale that’s cabretta. Lately it’s mostly been the Kirkland glove. In between rounds I store the one I am using in a small outside pocket of my golf bag where my little pocket towel goes. I always keep one new glove in another poket where I keep some accessories. Once they get a hole the glove becomes my range glove. I throw away the last range glove and the latest one goes in a little open top pocket in my bag. Stevenhp
I rotate gloves during a round. I normally will use two. Here in the mid-Atlantic when it can get humid I will typically use 3 gloves a round. It’s been a long time since I’ve put a hole in a glove. I tend to compare them to the grips, I will replace them when they get slick and no longer help with gripping the club.
EMacK1961
I use MG gloves. I find their price/performance ratio is high for me. I've had good success with their lasting better than other, more expensive brands. The only issue I have is with their size consistency. I can get a set of 5 and 3 will fit perfectly but the other two are questionable. I play 3 days a week and a glove will usually last me a good couple of months- 20 rounds plus before I begin to have issues. Only noticeable difference, besides price, is kirkland starts out tighter, like you mentioned. i wear my glove till they get holes in them - normally the palm. justbobgolf
It must be a big industry, but let's be realistic, we live in the 21st century and largely use golf gloves that only last us a couple of rounds. Looking at other sports, their equipment seems to hold up much longer. Think baseball, or football, or any other sport. Even my climbing and surfing gear, which often see the worst of it, still seem to last longer and have much better repairability. It seems like a wasteful practice, and there should be a golf glove that would last you years. WaffleHouseTour
I’ve come to really like North Coast Golf Co. I started w three each with a different collar stripe around the wrist - make sure I rotated from day to day. Then I got their glove caddy to keep them in and mush to my surprise it wasn’t hype - they did seem to last longer and were neither sweaty the next day nor a dried out prune…. I’ve always got five in there rotating through each round - or come the humid days of August every six holes. I’ve got one glove (yellow and green stripe from their azeala collection) i have head for years but it doesn’t get too much play. Most make it until there is a hole worn in them. The plain white ones that I only use for practice - draw sharpie lines on them wear out the fastest. They are a great fit and seem pretty durable. I signed up for their subscription service and usually get a new glove before i feel the need to throw an old one away - so they sometimes become the range glove w lines. im also a person who wears the glove for the drive, full approach shot, then back pocket for short shots and putting. BeyondXL
On 4/7/2023 at 7:37 AM, Willie T said: Figured it would be best to answer in order: How long to I keep them? All so far - once worn out or thru, they’re hung on a peg in the shop (then again I’ve been only playing the past six years). In reality, I’ve started using better quality gloves (FootJoy at the moment). Getting about a season for a glove - but I switch bags and keep a separate glove in each bag. How long do I expect them to last? At least most of a season of playing at a minimum a round per week. What glove do I normally use? Have experimented with different brands - MaxFli, Callaway, Wilson and currently FootJoy. The best in feel and durability has been the FootJoy…. Storage for them? I am bag stuffer! Looking forward to hearing the Red Rooster glove reviews…. As a golfer with only four years of experience, I'm constantly looking for ways to improve my game and shave strokes off my 16 handicap. Playing 3-4 times a week has taught me that the right gear can make all the difference. Recently, I've been switched to Red Rooster Golf Gloves from Contour FLX, which fit fairly similar. Red Rooster Golf Gloves: Convenience and Quality Red Rooster Golf Gloves have quickly become my favorite. The feel and durability are top-notch, but what really sets them apart is their subscription model. Knowing that a new glove will arrive at my doorstep every month means I never have to make a last-minute trip to the pro shop. Plus, if I don’t need a new glove that month, skipping a month is super easy and the customer service was really quick. I accidentally had a Small instead of ML on my subscription due to changing styles and they fixed it really quickly and didn't get a useless size. Here’s how I manage my gloves: new ones are for play, and once they start to lose their performance, they get demoted to practice gloves. Also, I always have two fresh gloves ready in case of rain or unexpected rips. I also noticed that after switching my grips from GP Zgrips to GP Zgrips Cord, I go through gloves a bit faster. That’s actually how I discovered Red Rooster, thanks to a recommendation from a golfing buddy. Their basic glove case is a nice bonus, keeping my gloves organized and in good condition. Which leads me to another general question; does the glove grip combination have a significant impact 1 on play and two on wear? (still a newbie). FJ Contour FLX: A Reliable Alternative Contour FLX gloves are another great option. They’re made from high-quality materials and offer a comfortable, snug fit. The grip is reliable, which is crucial for maintaining control during swings. However, they don't offer the subscription convenience that Red Rooster does, so I still find myself running to the pro shop when I need a new glove. Which One is Better? Both Red Rooster and Contour FLX provide quality gloves, but they cater to different needs. If you value convenience and want a reliable rotation system, Red Rooster is a game-changer. The subscription service is especially beneficial for avid golfers. On the other hand, if you prefer buying gloves as needed and prioritize fit and comfort, Contour FLX is a solid choice as you get to try on the gloves before you buy. If you’re interested in trying out Red Rooster gloves, let me know – I’d be happy to share a referral code. I found it’s worth experimenting to see what works . Here’s to lowering that handicap and enjoying every round of golf! Quote 2 sayings we always have on the course: The ABPs of golf. Always Be Putting! JY56
I usually play them till they start to come apart. I always buy a really snug/tight fit and used to go through a pile, would wear a hole in them after only a few rounds but now they last much longer and it's rare that I wear a hole. I prefer the FJ All weather, usually buy them in two packs and pick up maybe 3 packs, so 6 gloves at the start of each season. Usually 150 rds a year plus some practice sessions. I also change my grips each season and use the Golf Pride MCC grips, which have cord in them, maybe that helps ?

Slypanther
I have read various techniques here about how you have tried to make gloves last. I start every year with 2 new gloves carried on the steering wheel, wrap around the circumference and Velcro will hold them in place. Back In the balata age, carried 3 balls at the start of each round, and then rotated 1 ball each hole returning 1st hole ball on the 4th hole. multiple reasons here. balls were not able to return to round in time, pieces of cover cut off and in the grooves (pre square grooves) and each inspected at its new start hole. Gloves were removed after each shot, rotating them usually 3 - 4 rounds when there is a wear pattern, leather worn down at either of two spots on the glove. The thumb, or the pad of my palm. If either of the gloves reach this criteria, it gets replaced with a new glove and it goes into the practice compartment to continue to wear as a practice glove until any tear or hole, then straight into the garbage. I usually buy a dozen each winter when the pro shop has its 20% off sale.
RetiredBoomer
I don't use them. I used to use them, and finally had to admit that I felt better without them. Wearing no glove, however, made me fussier about grips. I only use the simulated leather wrap-style grips that don't feel coarse in my hands. We can order clubs with almost any grip we want, but if I buy an odd single one from the pro shop, I usually end up paying to have it re-gripped. I'll put up with a bouquet of different shafts in my bag because I'm not a high level player, but the grip always has to be right. When I did wear gloves, though, I don't remember being very original. I think that I just bought the Foot Joy made ones in the pro shop like pretty much everybody else. I honestly can't remember how long that they lasted.
