Greetings from Oregon (and WITB)

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Spies! I’m excited to have finally made an MGS forum account… hoping to get selected for the Zebra putter testing.

I’m 46. Grew up in MI. Played on the high school golf team. Lived on the east coast for 8 years (2 in DC and 6 in NYC) and in Portland, OR for 21 years. I’m a professional guitar tech (I repair and refurbish stringed instruments).

I try to play two times a week. My index has crept up to 9.0 after hitting a low of 6.3 in Sept of 2022. I don’t practice. Don’t go to the driving range. I’m trying to find a perfect balance between not practicing and being fine with an occasional 85 even though I want to shoot 79 or better every time. Because it’s too frustrating if I practice and “work on my game” all the time only to shoot 85. 🤷‍♂️

What’s in my bag you ask?

Callaway Epic Speed 9°, HZRDUS 6.0 shaft

Callaway Epic Speed 3W, HZRDUS 5.5 shaft

Cobra Amp cell 4-hybrid

Mizuno MP-53, project X 5.5 5-iron - PW

Ping M/B 48° wedge

Ping M/B 52° wedge

Ping M/B 56° wedge

Snake Eyes 685BX 60° wedge

Ram Zebra putter (in the bag for 30+ years)

Ping Hoofer bag, Vice balls, white wooden tees, sunscreen, peanut butter pretzels from Trader Joe’s.

Welcome to the forums from 200 miles up the Columbia River.  Glad you joined us.  There are quite a few Spys in PDX area and it seems to be growing!  There has been talk of a get-together; hope it happens and I'll come join.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Hi! I usually play at Heron. I live very close to there. And IMO you can't beat their pre-paid punch card for rounds... averages to $30 a round which can save you $24 on the weekends. But my crew and I get around to most of the local courses at least once during the year.
