One of my main issues with the Mevo isn't in the unit itself but in the charging cord. I realized the unit is small, but I wish the charger was a bit longer. I'm leery of just going to Walmart or ordering one off Amazon since it's recommended to use a Raspberry Pi compatible charger in order not to damage the circuit board. 

The other day I charged the Mevo in the bathroom and set it up on a roll of toilet paper to reach the outlet. Most of my outlets are either inconvenient due to animals and I don't have a lot in the kitchen that aren't being used. 

I decided to go on to the FlightScope website and bought a portable charger and it arrived today. 

It is made by Anker and it's a brand I trust. I have a set of headphones and ear buds from them and they're good quality and a great price. 

The charger came in well packaged and protected from any damage that could be caused in shipping. I opened the box and it came in with two cables 1 USB-C to USB-C and 1 USB to USB-C. I would say I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't come in with the Mevo specific charger, but since I already have one, it's not a big deal. Plus, it came with a pouch to store it in when not in use. 

I have it plugged up right now getting a charge so I can use it to charge the Mevo.

@sirchunksalot great insight here on the charger. I wasn't aware of the Raspberry Pi compatibility issue - glad I didn't order a generic cord to replace it. The portable charger looks great. Very clean design and Anker is definitely a brand you can trust.

I didn't either until I was looking for a longer charger and found a post on a launch monitor forum.

I am currently waiting on tracking information for the Mevo+ but have received the email confirmation and access codes to the E6 and setup instructions.

Loving these reviews.  Question for all the testers... how much MORE additional accessories or equipment did you have to invest in to gain the maximum benefit from the unit ?

For someone who may be just starting out, what can they expect to be able to spend to use something like this as a bare bones setup?

Hi @Josh Parker, this is secondary to the Mevo testing, but I would like your thoughts on the 10 E6 Connect courses.
I only got one course, Aviara, with the initial purchase of the Swing Caddie SC4. 
I really like that course, but variety is calling to me almost to the point where I'll pry open my moldy wallet and buy another course.
I'm still too frugal (cheap) to spring for a E6 connect basic or expanded yearly subscription.

Depends on what you’re trying to do I think. Seems like just a hitting bet for the mevo is sufficient to get some good work in

Really I've only spent about $5-10 on anything I've seen necessary and that's on two metallic markers. I already have a net and mat, which for some could be a necessary expense if you want to use the Mevo at home. 

The battery pack was $60 and I honestly think you can buy the same one on Amazon for $20. It wasn't a necessity, I just wanted something that would sit flat enough with the Mevo so I wouldn't have to run the risk of it hanging from an outlet.

@Lacassem has the thread on his build and has all the links.

I priced out the net and parts to make the 10x10x10 enclosure with a decent hitting mat and it was under $500.

You can get pop up nets for much less.

 

As for specific accessories for the Mevo or Mevo+, I haven't bought anything. I'm going to test it with a metallic sharpie marker and some silver duct tape.

I went all out for this test. Bought a portable hitting net for the mevo. Then for the mevo +, I bought a 10x10x10 hitting cage with a screen, 5x10 hitting mat that takes real tees, got a projector from a swell fellow, a computer from work that they were gonna throw out, and a heated shed from my father in law.  I figured I wanted to do this right.

Another question.  For those able to hit off the ground vs a mat, have you noticed a difference in the numbers or path reading?  Has anyone tried it at a range that has both available?

I used the mevo primarily at the range and yes, numbers will vary from mat to turf. Typically get a higher flight off a mat. A mat will also have a little forgiveness on fat shots.
