stevegp67
I would like to see occasional articles and equipment reviews for specifically for slow swing speed golfers... this includes, among others, seniors, those who may have injuries or health challenges, and those who have lost significant swing speed. I'm not talking about those still swinging at 90 miles per hour with a driver, but those who now only swing 70-85 miles per hour. I realize that there are many/mostly golfers on these forums who swing at average and high swing speeds, but there are a lot of golfers who absolutely love (are addicted to) the game but for a variety of reasons have lost a lot of swing speed. You would think most would be, but it has been a point of contention prior and if the shafts don't work then it's the fees to reinstall. While not all member tests have to be straight forward iron shafts are ones we need to find a better method then our current model as it doesn't work well. Notjustduffin
Honestly with being a higher handicap player I'm simple in my wants . I'd like to see if any sets of clubs can truly change the way the game is played. I am intrigued with the idea that a change in equipment can create a new dimension for players to escape the confines of average golf. Yes let's not forget that practice and technique play a major part but does the ends justify the means ? Does equipment facilitate or just hide inadequacies in our game? If I had the means to try this in my own I would but I don't. Cold hard truth it's an expensive game that I love and truly want to gain a better understanding of. So let's hear it , does equipment of " higher quality " change the game for the better or just make us think it does. As one of the MGS Most Wanted testers I have the opportunity to hit a wide variety of clubs and the basic answer to your question is yes. Clubs perform differently and ideally we match up the clubs to our needs. For example, I am a lower spin player so drivers with weight forward don't perform as well for me. Clubs feel causes you to rotate the clubs at different rates so you will get different launch directions. Putters are the same. This is why most on the forum recommend that everyone get some level of fitting and don't just buy clubs off the rack. That’s just it though. You were obviously not happy with your putting beforehand and put in a long time to change. You would need to find people who are just as unhappy with their putting and have/want to spend the time to change. In my opinion no good/decent putter is gonna want to take the time to change and that means a skewed review to me. If you want to get together with a member and have them walk through their experience with you teaching in your thread, by all means go for it. However know this upfront, you may not ask for any monetary return. Not that you would be wanted to put it out there as we would shut it down immediately and remove anything pertaining to it. Since I have only had the chance to use clubs such as the Stratus set that my wife bought me as a gift. Since my old hand me downs were almost unusable. I have had limited chances to use and try anything but a PING driver once in the few years I have played . Don't get me wrong I am not bitter or envious of those that can afford to purchase and play this great game. I play when I can at the courses I can with what I can and enjoy every second of it. I spent a long time figuring out where to put my hands. And learning what Face Balance means. And overcoming my prejudice against what I thought was a gimmick, large diameter putter grips. Now that I have a good stroke, I am trying to find the motivation to sell myself as a teacher but I am leery of youtube etc. I think about trying to teach in person at some local courses. I think YouTube will offer you a chance to get over some nerves and be a little more comfortable creating your teaching method, even if the video doesn't get a lot of views it would help you plan out your sessions and get a firmer grasp on your concept. As for stuff here - self promotion for financial gain is not allowed by way of using our platform. Now if you wanted post a little tutorial for information to help ppl go for it! It is when someone gets into trying to sell their selves that we have some issues. We have a new update coming soon that gives us a few more options on the forum. Some of these things will help bring new content to golfers and maybe there is a way to feed in some lesson type material. Take a look at the broomstick piece Mission man did and maybe it will give you some further ideas and allow you to write a piece that could potentially be published.
