Scottsdale Course Recs

Headed to Scottsdsale the 3rd week of March looking for hidden gems. Easy to find the high dollar courses and likely to play a couple, but always appreciate those hidden gems that doesn't get the publicity like the big dogs.

There aren't any. Seriously. Even the dog tracks are over $100 right now. It's absurd. The Final Four will be here in March, so don't expect much between now and then either. Pick whichever high dollar place you like and look for hot deals.

Agreed that they're all expensive.  I've played a few of the County courses, and in my opinion they aren't worth consideration.  Cheaper, but dry, not very well maintained, and uninteresting.  If you're planning to travel for golf, I see no reason to golf at the type of course that I could find in my own hometown.  JMO.

March is still peak season in AZ, so you won't find much less than $100.  Having said that, I have been able to find some 'cheap' rates at the following as a single:

• The Legacy Club (not in Scottsdale, South Phoenix)
• Raven Golf Club (also Phoenix)
• TPC Scottsdale - Champions Course
• Legend Trail - underrated; I really like this one
• Ocotillo Golf Club - (in Chandler, lots of H20)

Legen Trail is a horrible course. Never, ever go there. The drive is too far, the starters are mean, the weather is bad, etc.

In addition to the ones already mentioned, here are some others.  And like previously mentioned, the costs will be on the higher side.  Welcome to Scottsdale/Phoenix golf in the "winter". 

The Boulders (North Scottsdale)

Camelback Inn (there are two courses.  I haven't played there in years so can't speak to how good they are).

Dove Valley (North Phoenix)

JW Marriott - Desert Ridge

Stone Creek

McDowell Mountain Ranch

Talking Stick

Boulders is NOT worth what they are charging. Played south today. Good shape, but not that good.
