how to play in a pro-am

I would love to play in a pro-am for fun and the experience of a lifetime but how does someone like myself mid handicapper player, who doesnt have thousands of dollars to throw around and pay to play, or work for huge company that is a sponsor of such events, gets an opportunity to be in a pro-am event.

Honestly, I think the answer is simply you dont get that opportunity.

Unfortunately it’s about who you know or how much money you have.  BUT

There are country clubs that put on Pro-Ams to raise money for a charity or even the club itself. Those are usually much cheaper to play in than the Big Ones. Usually the Pro’s are club Pro’s from around the area. My last country club does one every year and it’s only a couple hundred bucks. I was just invited to a medium sized one in South Carolina while on my business trip and the entry is just north of $1000. If my company is willing to sponsor me I would go. But I’m not one to shell out a grand to play one round of golf with no one I know except for maybe one or two people.

I am assuming you mean a tour pro am.  You need an "in" to get picked and then come up with the thousands of $$$ through a company sponsor or your own bank acct or you dont get to play.

yeah pretty much thought those answers is what id hear. but thought maybe someone had some incite that could help. guess ill keep looking for the willy wonka golden ticket.
