Haven’t tried yet. Standby for further testing.

Interesting design or concept with the Clicgear bag cover, but knowing that the Ghost bag is advertised as "weather resistant" and not fully promoted as fully waterproof, wouldn't a realistic expectation be that the possibility of some wetness is to be expected if played in steady or heavy rain conditions?

There seem to be fewer bag manufacturers who do offer a fully waterproof bag these days, and it would seem that the onus would be on the golfer who decides to play on in the rain, should also know the potential consequences of doing so.

Not making any excuses, just would hate to see any tester be highly critical of this, when it may be an expected result.

@rkj427 this bag is water resistant, yes.  Not sure anyone makes a waterproof bag anymore.  A design flaw on this bag makes it hold water where it shouldn’t.  Having to cover the bag in a rain cover isn’t a bad thing and players do that anyway, but at this price point one would think there wouldn’t be the leakage issue   Where the two valuables pockets be designed where water does not sit on top of the zippers and leak into said pockets, playing in the rain would not be that big of a problem.

A valuables pocket to me implies it would be more secure from elements,  not susceptible to damage to what's inside.

Had rain day #3 today, actually put the rain gear on the cart because I do push a cart and it can carry extra stuff whether it is needed or not.  Always have.

PXL_20241015_203123338.jpg.2e8c0fd1d7a151119d2c6910762bad97.jpg
5th Fairway with approaching rain cloud.

The round started off in really nice autumn weather and the threat of rain did not appear until the 5th tee box.  Before then I made a note of the light audible sounds of the club heads tapping, yes they actually do tap, not as silent as I remembered in my last post about it, but definitely much MUCH quieter, shhhh, than I have ever heard club heads slap in other cart bags, and definitely hugely quieter than in carry bags.

I don't know why it is always at the furthest distance from the clubhouse and parking lot, but if it is going to rain at Caz it is usually when I am on the 5th fairway more often than any other place.  I saw the virga clouds, or curtains of rain descending from the clouds, so with my second shot lying just past a big Maple tree I moved behind the big trunk for the wind break and set up my rain gear.

PXL_20241015_205010275.jpg.d43e674b03229a5c00c2a2c8f666a797.jpg
Using a big tree to block the wind while setting up for rain seeing the rain against the dark trees on the far side of the fairway.

Tip for umbrella ties, tag the hook and loop fasteners together so they don't blow in the wind and make a nuisance of themselves.

PXL_20241015_205017887.jpg.8e9c1dc55458a8f84bf8f95ea0be634d.jpg
This keeps the ties from dangling below the umbrella canopy.

I set up the DrizzleStik umbrella this time using the lower drink pocket for the bottom of the umbrella handle

and with the ball retriever in the front row right golf club sleeve, connected a tether/lanyard with bungee cord to the far side top grab handle and had far less movement from the little umbrella than ever before.  Clubs all stayed dry and much easier to access as well.

The top of the DrizzleStik tamed by attachment to the top grab handle opposite the side it is on.

The rain went off after the 5th green and the main umbrella came down on the 7th tee box, dry enough to furl and put back on the cart bag umbrella holder and sleeve behind the left side pockets.  The rest of the rain gear was mostly dry by the 9th fairway and was stowed despite another rain storm approaching as I was heading to the vehicle anyway, and everything did stay dry, and the rain passed to the east of the course.

PXL_20241015_213455028.jpg.05402c5843b69db2d96f13dee3983d89.jpg
The next passing rain storm cloud.  Nice rainbow under that one after it passed.

I think it is great having a water resistant golf bag that when using appropriate wet weather gear, the chances of having the contents of the golf bag remain dry is assured.  There is no guarantee that everything will always stay dry unless golfing in weather that does not include rain.  I choose to golf in rain, prefer to golf in rain as it usually means fewer golfers out, more peaceful day on the course, and I am a gadget guy.  All of that leading to my childhood joy of being outside in the rain.

This Ghost Golf GT-14 Oreo Cart Bag makes it all the more enjoyable, and don't forget to take a break when the rain gets heavy, enjoy a good drink of fresh water or whatever you brought, and for this bag it's just right having an Oreo cookie.

Day 3 this week with no rain but still had the rain gear on hand.

1000008176.jpg.70a3517ac00c23f5e4016298a150fb8d.jpg
First tee box and fairway, I only saw one other golfer on the course and he was finishing the 9th hole as I was finishing the 2nd.

Excessive you say?  I used to until the day I almost talked myself into leaving it in the vehicle.  It was a beautiful clear blue sky sunshine filled day, but I chided myself of not being prepared and reminded myself the Clicgear was going to do the carrying for me.  And the clouds began to emerge from the blue to the north after I was done with the 2nd green and hitting out on the 3rd tee I was thinking I'd be getting some relief from the glaring sun, but then the clouds kept building and by the time I was on the 5th tee it was starting to look heavy and threatening with an epic downpour before I got to the green.  So yeah, I load the rain gear regardless of forecast and "what it's doing now."

PXL_20241016_190830970.jpg.e1237ce0da2038f7ee5c5c757e45a379.jpg
2nd fairway, the colors were only just beginning to show on some of the trees on this fairway.

Today though it was opposite day and the clouds kept getting thinner.

5th tee box and this has always been a favorite corner of the course with blossoming trees between this and the 4th fairway behind me.

Fall colors are beginning to show in my neck of the woods, and the GT-14 Oreo Cart Bag looks right at home in its neutral color scheme regardless of the background!

PXL_20241016_201143596.jpg.ef53d415a100acb5cfedfac01b0a5305.jpg
The colors on the 4th fairway in the background were showing off in the lower and more persistent sunshine into the second hour.

High up the 8th green has an overlook aspect with the 4th fairway seen from the opposite side, same colorful trees now on the left side of the photo.

Blazing colors are beginning again by the 1st tee box, a good show of how the weather cleared out in a couple of hours, proving the addage, "If you don't like the weather in WNY, just wait an hour."

With so many positive aspects of the GT-14 cart bag it's already becoming a favorite part of my late season golf experience.

I did start thinking about an unusual club arrangement I tried for a while with the C130 cart bag a few years ago, thinking I might give it a try next time if only to see if it has promise and perhaps give my favorite forum friends a new idea for golf club arrangement in a golf bag. ⛳

Got notice that our club is moving to winter rules and all that good stuff come October 28th.

This means no carts and carry bags only, single tee boxes and a few more things which means for handicap rounds I only have 11 days left! Last tournament is on the 26th, but all of this to say I am taking the GT14 out for another round this morning. Hopefully get some good photos and such there as it may only get one or two more rounds before the season is up.

Ahh the color changes!  Ghost has made an awesome cart bag it seems.  I know my stand bag has been great and this cart bag seems to check all the boxes.  I know you have used it a ton, are you seeing any wear at all or any spots that you worry about?

Bottom line up front, I have not seen any wear on the GT-14 Cart Bag at this point.

My nature is to take care of things, mine or not, usually returning things borrowed in better condition than received.

I have been paying attention to the bag in places where contact happens with restraining straps and the interior of my vehicle.

It was received 9/25 and so far it's been used with a riding cart 2 times and a push cart 9 times.  I have not seen any abrasion or distortion of the fabric surface from the restraints.

I do use a Velcro®️ strap when mounting it on a riding cart that reduces friction and pressure imparted by the riding cart restraining strap.  So the cart strap has not bee secured as tightly as some users might but I also have used a sleeve on the riding cart bag strap to reduce that potential source of friction, wear, damage.

@EasyPutter just curious if there is as much storage space on the Ghost Bag to hold all things that your C130 bag would hold?

I only ask as the C130 bag is considered the epitome of storage space in a cart bag.

@EasyPutter just curious if there is as much storage space on the Ghost Bag to hold all things that your C130 bag would hold?

I only ask as the C130 bag is considered the epitome of storage space in a cart bag.

Great question Robert!  The short answer is yes everything did transfer over from the C130 into the GT-14 when I first loaded it.  BUT and that is a big BUT, the GT-14 handles what gets stuffed into it differently because of how the bag is construction and its fabric properties.

The C130 has one extra pocket than the GT-14, a 4th pocket on the front of the bag.  It is a velour/velvet lined pocket between the zipper pocket above the ball pocket and the (on my 2018 C130) lift up range finder pocket (in later models the rangefinder pocket is fixed in place).

In practice, the more I put in the side pockets, the tighter the clubs fit in the full length club sleeves.  Reducing the amount of items in pockets on all sides of the central clubs core made all clubs slide in and out of the sleeves better, including the putter that can get blocked by objects in the front cooler pocket when mounted on a push cart that leans that pocket back against the putter well reducing it's width.

So, while it will take the same approximate volume of things, functionally it will not and the C130 has advantage over the GT-14 for storage space for these reasons.

Agree!  Things cost to much to replace so taking good care of things is a must. My Ghost bag has seen countless rounds and been in and out of the truck or on my golfcart and I'm seeing the same positive results. I think they build a great bag.

I have had the GT-14 Bag for a little while now and have had a chance to put it through the daily rounds as well as see it as a storage bag in the office from time to time.

Let's get into it and see what I found in my time using the Ghost GT14 bag.

Looks and Materials

As we come to expect the Ghost Golf bag series the materials are premium. The feel and looks are stellar and there are countless thoughtful features that are available and can be explored throughout use and the unboxing.

I went with the all white bag... dumb? Maybe, but it stands out and looks great. Yes, it is slightly harder to clean, but the material is suitable for easy cleaning with a damp cloth.

Unlike the Anyday bag, the GT-14 has full length pockets on both sides. I appreciate the symmetry of the GT-14 bag where the right side and the left side are the same. The exception being little details like towel hook and umbrella storage which is on one side. Not an issue by any means, but something that is noteable.

The logo on the bag is big, but the location allows it to be slightly hidden and people still ask me about the bag and the brand, so it must not be too bold or obvious.

Updates from the Anyday Bag

There are a few things which Ghost did that I believe was a direct consequence from feedback given to Ghost. The first one that I would note is the zippers. They are much improved from the Anyday bag and rather than having all the Ghost tags, they are proper zippers. This is a plus for me as the Anyday ones had a loop that would sometimes come loose.

Leather cover on handle near dividers. While not a game changer, this is a fantastic touch that has been added to the GT-14 which I would love to see on their 6th version of the Anyday bag.

More pockets! Yeah yeah it is a cart bag so more room available, but it is maybe 3 times more room? I don't need all this room by anymeans, but I think I could probably fit a weeks worth of golf gear here if I had to!

On The Course

The biggest thing I can say and the most important is this bag stands out. In a good way. Just look at it!

PXL_20241017_102057252.jpg

There isn't too much to say about performance on course if I am honest, but I do have one nitpick that will come in a bit.

The Ghost GT-14 does everything we could possibly want for a golf bag and cart bag. The bag may be a bit on the heavy side? Maybe,  but on a push cart it is hardly noticeable.

The pockets are really good and provide all the room golfers will need for equipment in any condition. We will touch on storage space and pockets in their own section though.

The 14-way divider is where it's at and I love the way it is configured with two larger bottom and top slots and the middle ones being regular sized. The benefit here for me was I put 3 wedges along the bottom and my putter on the right side in a normal spot, then place the driver and long game clubs up top. It means I have extra room or slots for more clubs, but it just flows really well and all the clubs are easily accessible.

Fit on a push cart: The bottom is on the big side, so even my Sun Mountain Cart it fits, but just. It takes a bit of proper maneuvering to have it in, but it also means that it wont move at all. The clicgear cart had no issues.

Pockets and Features

As I have stated a few times, this thing has pockets for days. Many many with two long ful length pockets on both sides. Then a series of smaller pockets for more stuff. It retains the smaller water bottle pockets on the front and has a large ball pocket, deep cooler pocket and magnetic flip pocket that is perfect for keys, wallet and more.

After that there are all the smaller detailed features which I have come to really appreciate. Here is a list of them.

- pass through for straps on the top for a sleek look and hiding the strap.
- Flip pocket on the top where the top strap will be hidden.
- Bottom handle under bottom pocket. This is a small extra bit of material that makes picking up the bag easier and just better.
- Magnetic pocket, this thing is my favorite.
- Glove Velcro Slots - two slots on both sides for placing a glove that doesn't need to be in a pocket or anywhere else. Just a smart and simple feature that I will miss anytime I don't have it anymore.
- Leather handle - just like getting into a nice car and holding a nice steering wheel, this is the vibe it gives.
- Black accents and core. This makes the bag looks smaller and adds to the contrast.

PXL_20241017_103240685.jpg

Where does it fall short?

I am going to nitpick here because, well I can and think it is fair to give constructive feedback on a product. I have praised it so far and will continue to do so, but I did fine a few areas where I would like to see small improvements.

First off is the rain cover. Sure it works great and does the job, but it is specifically meant for golf carts, not push carts. I am a push cart golfer and may ride in a cart once a year? The way the cover goes on is the opposite for what I would need with a push cart. The hood does not go overtop of the clubs, but goes under them with the zipper being on the opposite side. Deal breaker? no, but it is annoying as I play frequently in the rain and it renders this cover only 50% usable and more of a pain then actual help.

My other nitpick is exactly that. It is that this bag is wide. I know it is supposed to be, but I would love to see a bag that is even 10% smaller. I think that would be perfect and still fit everything a golf needs and more.

Final Verdict

Golf bags aren't the easiest products to review. There is no real data to procure other than weight and maybe number of pockets etc. However I do think there are easier reviews in that they either work or they don't. And the Ghost GT-14 bag just flat out works. It has all that a golfer would need in a golf bag and lots of added nice touches which help.

So is it worth the premium price tag? Yes, if you are a golfer looking to spend on a bag that offers premium features, excellent materials and ample pockets then this is a bag worth considering.

This bag is going to stay in rotation for me, but likely won't be my go-to bag. I do prefer the overall weight and size of the Anyday bag. However this will still get plenty of use on the course. I love the look, I prefer the 14 way on this bag vs the Anyday bag and feel this is the perfect compliment to their whole lineup.

A great bag that maybe could use a small fine tuning, but overall with work and do everything a golfer wants from it.

My Vessel Lux has the valuables pockets built into the side pockets. These pockets do not hold as much as the Ghost but they protect valuables from water because there is not a lip above the zipper like the Ghost. Ghost would be smart to incorporate something like this in their next design.

Round 4 of the week was a busy day with full foursomes on the course that the day before was all to myself.  Lots of positive comments about the cart bag from the rest of the foursome and others at the clubhouse when I arrived to inquire about a tee time with so many vehicles in the parking lot and people on the picnic tables under the canopy and those warming up for their turn at the 1st tee.

20241017Caz5thBillJohnRyan.jpg.38b11d81d722cd7632f6b645b0503633.jpg

I had mentioned in my last post about a different arrangement in the cart bag for clubs.  This is what it looks like:

PXL_20241017_213440870.jpg.0779a415ea76f0095c5cbe0abddcf60b.jpg

And this is the schema for what is where:

image.png.e2f27047744cf6e61f0149766e333a4d.png

Definitely not conventional with the big dogs starting across the top of the bag and down the left side with the irons grouped in neat rows but I think with this fitting nicely under the rain hood, this is how I am going to keep my clubs as it really works well for me.

I had a close look at my front zipper on the cooler pocket that seems to be catching on the (looking at the zipper) left side near the top but there is no evidence (yet?) of any pulling on the fabric to snag as shown in your photos, I think another tester was having a similar issue.

The PU leather material on the push cart with its approximate 30 degree rearward lean seems to sag backwards toward the clubs section of the bag and I had noticed interference with objects in the cooler bag when returning the Putter to the Putter Well front club sleeve.  Mentioned because it seems to be a source for the zipper being resistant to sliding open and closed, which is the difficulty I have with just that one zipper.  All the other pocket zippers function nominally.
