After today's round I just ran out of gas to finish the round.

Curious what you do to keep the tank off empty and the motor going?

Cliff bars and Nuun amino tabs. If it is really hot I will grab a banana at the turn for some substance.

Nuun tablets are an essential when it gets hot. Those things are life savers. I'll usually pack an apple or some almonds if I remember, or else hit the cart girl up for nuts or trail mix. Cliff bars do keep you going.

Absolutely no alcohol until the 18th tee box... if then. I drink plan ole H2O all throughout my rounds. I eat a light breakfast or lunch within an hour before I start my round. At the turn a eat a snack-energy bar of various types. No rocket science here. Just basics.

I start off with a large coffee, then about the 7th hole I have a snack(Nabs, Chewy Oatmeal Bar or Peanut Bar).  I then open a Gatorade on #9 and finish it off on the back nine.  If I am still waning, I'll have another snack.  If I am playing badly, I'll have a stiff one to set me straight.(Wild Turkey)........If I buy a beer from the Cart Geirl, It's $5....If I wait until the Clubhouse, I get my first pint BOGO...being a club member....so usually I wait until I finish.

Played Thursday in the Dominican Republic with temps in the low 90's and humidity of around 80%.  Went through an entire tube of them and walked the course while my caddy drove the cart.  No cramping or fatigue during the round which is saying something since my fitness regimen rivals that of John Daly.

I play when its 115 here in summer. I drink about 4-5 water bottles, and at least a quarter of one goes over the head. That gives you a brief blast of energy.

It depends round to round, but most I don't carry food. Sometimes I eat, sometimes not. Usually staying in constant motion helps.

Same here in the summer except it is only 105-112.  I will drink several bottles of water and one bottle of something like Gatorade.  The course has two water jugs on each nine, but I only use them for soaking my hat and shirt.  On course I will eat snacks, usually something that doesn't melt; nuts and some power bars, but not chocolate.

For some reason out here the course has a rule posted the government doesn't allow water to be in jugs. The course across the street has it. However, another course has a pretty crappy water fountain. Either way, I BYOB

I understand rules against it.  My favorite course in Phoenix, Thunderbird on South Mountain, closed after being sued because a boy drank water from one of their jugs and died.  New owners came in and put in nice bathroom facilities with piped in water and ice machines; changed name to Vistal GC.  It just shut down last year so they could build houses on it.   :(

A couple of courses here don't have water jugs, mostly because they never maintained them very well anyway.  My course has them and are very clean and fresh daily.  In the desert they are very concerned about people getting dehydrated so they feel an obligation to provide water.

Interesting. I'll never forget the day in NJ it hit 103. Every hole had a jug. Three players went out that day-- I was the only one walking. I got the sense that the people were worried for my safety when they told me they could have a cart out to me in 5 minutes if I ever felt sick that day. I had no problems at all.

103 in NJ is NOT the same as 103 in the desert!!  I'll take the desert every time.

My club, Pebble Creek GC in Tampa, has a water Jug at #1, #4/8, #12 & water fountain at #15/4.

We don't seem to have any issues with them.

It's now the same to me. NJ was especially dry that week. During summer here, our humidity rises to insane levels during the summer monsoon season. That's fun where it's 115 degrees with a 70 degree dewpoint.

I have Nature Valley granola bars in my bag. They keep for months ( except peanut butter, which melts). I also bring Gatorade, a must have in Florida in the summer. It took me a while to get used to playing in the summer here. At first, I couldn't finish a round, but got used to it. Bananas are great to refresh you without filling me up.

All that said, if I'm playing lousy, sometimes it just ain't worth finishing. But that's pretty rare. At least i got my exercise.

I keep 50mg caffeine tablets in my bag. Obviously it is very important to eat a little something every few holes to stave off hunger and maintain energy. But you can't beat having that little extra dose of caffeine to help keep the focus sharp! I take one about 30 minutes before I tee off and then one usually after I tee off on 9 to help finish out the round. The big discrepancy here however is if you are sensitive to caffeine you are likely to get anxious and shaky (NOT good for golf!). But, the tablets I take are equivalent to a small cup of coffee so it isn't a lot! I know a lot of players on tour will mix some form of caffeine into their water to keep the energy and focus up.

Another option would be to go to your local grocery store and purchase some Crystal Light Energy packets. Just tear one open and pour in your water! They taste great, low calorie, and 50mg of caffeine to keep the focus sharp. Your buddies also can't claim you are taking steroids when you are bombing it past them and taking all their money!

Haha that's good stuff.

I started keeping a 5 hour energy in my bag. Plus jerky and a banana to snack on.
