Adding a couple since I was able to visit Sand Valley last year. Really love their Sandbox (par 3 course) logo: And unfortunately I wasn't able to play their new Lido course but their logo is also pretty awesome:

I love this logo simply because it's a bucket list course for me and would probably eat my lunch, but it's so beautiful!

    Best Golf Logos

I saw this Barstool Sports article (forgive me, my friend sent it to me) about the top 10 courses that this guy has played that make other people jealous. These weren't necessarily the best courses to play, but rather the courses that would strike envy into your golf buddies when they see you wearing a polo or hat with their logo on it. This made me start wondering about what the best golf course logos are. It seems like everyone has a different opinion when it comes to their favorite, so I would like to see which logos you think are best! Feel free to just post photos of your favorites and/or give explanations for why they top your list! Here are some of mine (in no particular order):

My favorite round (really 36) of golf - I was able to get a headcover with this logo on my 7W (favorite course = favorite club). Here are a couple of my favorites: Shorty's (New short course at Bandon) Pasatiempo Brora (playing here next year - absolute top tier logo): Sleepy Hollow Burning Tree

Since I have lived in the Detroit area my whole life, and my Dad worked for an OEM vehicle manufacturer while we were growing up, he had some friends / business associates who were members at these courses and I played both of them with my Dad and brothers a few times over the years. I also worked for a person whose family had a membership at Oakland Hills, and he would take some of the employees who played golf out once a year. Haven't played either of them since 1996 but both are still awesome courses and host PGA and USGA events.

  10. Got out on the practice green for some chipping and putting practice with the brimstone tour bx. The mindset was not working for me on the greens. I was struggling with the arrow pointing exactly where I wanted it to. I don’t use a line on the ball when putting so it doesn’t work for me. I like having the green dot to stare at while putting though, so I started pointing the arrow in the opposite direction and it has worked well for me.

  11. I received my two dozen of Bridgestone Tour B RX Mindset balls today. So, starting next Thursday (my next round) and the month of May, I'll be dedicated to utilizing the Mindset principles (prompted by the graphic) to see what impact (if any) they have on my overall performance. Above, you'll see I played four rounds with a Tour B RX to see how it stacked up against my current go-to ball Maxfli Tour S. The numbers suggest that both balls performed equally as well with the same distance, accuracy and score-wise. That should remove any significant performance number impact by switching balls leaving me to focus on the impact of following the Mindset philosophy. Packaging seemed consistent with every other dozen golf balls packages I've gotten in the past with the exception of the enclosed Mindset card. The 4"x6" card outlined the Mindset general process steps and gave a QR code for applying the principles. Given the previous feedback that participants found some defects, I decided to inspect all 24 golf balls under a pretty intense (and unforgiving) LED light. There was some static attracted debris which was likely cardboard that easily brushed or blown away. Of the 24 balls, I did find two that had a very small nick between three adjacent dimples. I likely would not have seen the very small surface imperfections without the intense light and looking very close to the balls' surface. The nicks were so small, that I couldn't catch the edges with my thumb or fingernail. Given they were difficult to see and feel, I can't imagine they would have a noticeable impact on any of the performance metrics. I found all the Bridgestone printing and Mindset graphics clean, crisp and without defect. Now it's time for a Mindset refresher, find ways to incorporate it into my existing pre-shot routine and head out on the golf course to see what happens.

  12. Good question @cnosil - was actually about to post my quick interview with Calvin (master fitter at LAB - I believe he's done all of our fittings). Fast forward to 10:10 for my question to him on shaft options - I prefer a firmer feel & sound, so I'm going to go with the TPT. I believe @MattWillGolf with BGT due to wanting a more "middle of the road" option. Hopefully I / Calvin were able to address some of the questions people may have on LAB fittings / options!

  13. I have to agree with you on that one! What you can't see is a Meatloaf guitar pick and ticket stubs for the six plus times we saw him. Included is his March, 1978 concert at Susquehanna University that my wife went. At that concert Meatloaf ripped his pants wide open doing splits on stage during Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. He wasn't wearing underwear at the time.

    How'd you play?

Played ok. 20-30mph winds so I worked on lower, penetrating shots. I was successful! I’m liking my improvement. Numbers were pretty high at the start of the season. I still have work to do. But not too bad today!

    How'd you play?

Played 9 this afternoon with my honey; same course / same front 9 as a few days ago... Today was 8 (EIGHT) shots better over 9 holes, for a +9/44. Gold tee 65.6/116/2557 yds. And that's with (count 'em up folks)... a 3 putt a 4 (FOUR) putt 3 (THREE) x 2-chips OTOH I pulled off 3 (three!) up & down Par saves, and had one other 1-putt! Golf #amiright

  20. I like the technique but not a fan of the balls. I played with one of my scramble partners today and let him play them. He loves them. I think he’s damned near sold on them. He’s a lefty and we were playing in the wind. He has a banana ball flight. But with the Bridgestones, he was hitting them straight and for the first time I’ve played with him, hit som baby draws. These balls are made for him. I played the Titleist TruFeel balls for the first time and really liked them. So weird!?!? Anyway, I have a conundrum, I’m still playing the OnCore Vero X2s and am back to loving their performance, the Chrome Tour X, the ProV1 - and the ProV1/X, and now the TruFeels. I never thought I’d like the TruFeels. Someone gave me a sleeve to try, and it was windy and I didn’t want to lose my high dollar balls so I said what the hell. But I’m glad my buddy likes these Bridgestones.

  23. Was a great round today. Beautiful 60 degree day. Overall no really glaring bad facet of the game today just had a couple poor holes and didn’t make the birds when I had the chance. Greens were toughhhhhh and was tough to hold them. Standout today was putting and off the tee:

  24. I would say with the two straps, it was most comfortable I have ever had, but that’s limited to 3 bags so take that with that. The single strap was slippery over on shoulder but felt good and sat on my hit just right. I think they pretty easy to adjust, but I was very lazy and didn’t with the single strap.

The round is what I keep thinking about with this bag and how bad my sweat will be. I will get fitted and then the round, which means that bag will just be slipping off my shoulder. Lol

  28. A couple of years ago, I joined some other golf junkies on our forum and participated in an unofficial test of lightweight and flexible driver shafts. For those that haven't read the thread it is called Shaft Hack The Otto Phlex Journey started by @azstu324. At the time I participated in this test, I had a Fuji Ventus Velocore shaft in my driver and 3 wood. Now I have 2 driver shafts: a UST MP5 in Ladies flex and a ProLaunch Blue 45 in stiff flex. Both of these shafts were around $60 and I hit both very well.....enough so that I am not looking for something better. I still have the Ventus Velocore in my 3 wood and I won't be changing that one out any time soon.

  32. DF3 Weekley review - Highlights of week 1 Trying something new. Welcome to the Weekly DF3 review and recap highlighting the best posts, pictures and findings for the week. If this is helpful and you like this content, please let me know your thoughts. What Is L.A.B.? @GolfSpy_APH L.A.B. stands for Lie Angle Balance. These putters, unlike other putters, are not toe-hang or face balanced. They are balanced to point at the target, meaning no twisting, no struggling to keep the face directed at the target—the putter does this naturally. As each golfer is unique in their putting stance and stroke, the fitting process for L.A.B. is crucial. L.A.B. has made this easy by way of their online submission. A simple step-by-step process is sent to L.A.B. and they use this video to dial in your specifications. L.A.B. is best known for their big and unique-looking DF 2.1, a putter that has many nicknames and certainly does not appeal to all golfers. This is where the DF3 comes in. Please welcome and congratulate our testers! @GolfSpy_BEN This is a fantastic group of testers! I, and the entire forum, will be following along. Without further ado… Now the fun begins @sirchunksalot To me, this is the most intriguing test of the year and I'm looking forward to seeing what y'all think. @ShimmyCocoBop It would be interesting to know what the percentage of brooms vs. regular length putters are sold by LAB? Superb and excellent introductions by all the testers. Testers: 4 standard putters, 2 counterbalanced and the @GolfSpy SAM special Overall impressions – a great deal of interest in the L.AB. putters, and the technology behind it, Some scepticism regarding looks and price. @GolfSpy_APH - be happy you are not in the PM channel - Its Cobra challenge bad. Especially after the surprise I dropped them today. @Cfhandyman If we don't knock it out of the park, there will be hell to pay. But seriously, we want to make this fun, informative and answer all questions people have. This is a very intriguing putter and test. Be prepared to see some great putter combinations. @jbern We have all submitted online fitting videos, which is the most common way for LAB to fit putters. It was also SUPER easy to make a 3-5 second video of your putting stroke with a door pane behind you. One of the testers, @MattWillGolf, has received the fitting results back from LAB's fitter via email. I have so many color/alignment options that I'm thinking through that I don't think I want to inundate the thread with all the screenshots! @steve2526 Does anyone else see a goldfish cracker when looking at the DF 3 in orange? I'm a huge Df 2.1 fan. Best putter ever... @TJ Hall Anyone feeling overwhelmed by the shear number of possibilities here??? @GolfSpy SAM Two years in, my 2.1 is still kicking ass - THRILLED to see what this group experiences with the 3.0 (and yes, I'm a little jealous, but that's normal when a new kid is born into the family - the big bro gets a little jealous @Jim Shaw "can you open a stubby with one" @Cfhandyman Send in your video to L.A.B. and they will use their video fitting software to analyze your stroke and calculate your ideal length and lie angle. They will then send you an email confirming your specifications. https://labgolf.com/pages/remote-fitting @CFreddie Since I've never been officially fit for a putter, I focused first on determining eye dominance, and concluded that I'm left eye dominant (as a righty). Here is a simple test if you need to determine eye dominance - https://www.diyphotography.net/a-neat-trick-to-determine-your-dominant-eye/. @CFreddie What's most important to you with respect to putting? What matters to you and what do you look for? @Cfhandyman When, I look at my data for putting, the first thing I look at it the total number of putts and then how many were: a) One putt, b) Two putt, c) Three putts or worse Below is Arccos data looking at total putts broken down by 1, 2 or 3 or more putts by handicap. The higher handicaps 3 putt or worse far more than a scratch or low handicap golfer. Correspondingly, the low handicap golfer makes far more one putts. So one of the key metrics for me is reducing the number of 3 putts and increase the number of one putts. So according to Arccos, the 0 handicap makes on average 32.1 putts per round of which 5.2 holes were one putt, 11.5 holes are 2 putts and 1.3 holes were 3 putt. See below. Another way of looking it is for the 0 Hcp: One putts - 16.2%, Two putts - 71.6%, and three putts - 12.2% @jbern For me, stats wise, the most important stat is # of 3 putts. If I'm 3 putting the rest of the stats fall apart also. When it comes to the act of putting, the most important thing to me is speed. If my speed is on, confidence goes up, green reading seems to be better and it leads to more tap-ins and made putts. @jbern If I want to lower my handicap, I'll need to improve my putting. This data is a good baseline and it's pretty nice to see it visually on a graph and compare to a statistical giant like Arccos. @Steve F Markers set at 3', 5', 7' and 10'. I didn't do 10' last time, but figure I should add that especially since the 1 putt on 12 was from 19'. You certainly wouldn't know it by the practice session beyond 7'!! @CFreddie I'd agree with your ranking @Cfhandyman, (TPT>Stability>Accra>Steel) although I've never hit a Stability in a LAB. Having hit the others though, there is definitely a distinctive "feel" characteristic across the shaft options. For the stock steel, you get a muted but firm feel, which is the opposite of the Accra, which has a distinctive soft / almost "whip-like" feel to it (I could see how some people love the Accra, while others don't). The TPT was the best in my eyes (hence the high $) - you get very direct feedback on the hit, while feeling incredibly stabile in your hands. On a standard length putter, these aren't as pronounced, but I'd imagine in a Broomstick (with a much longer shaft), these are much more obvious. @downlowkey there’s an Easter Egg on L.A.B. Golf’s Meet DF3 page, that explains how you can even _combine_ multiple alignment aid options. @Steve F Thanks. And here, I was thinking simple black the entire way.... We potentially can mix them? If so, you're onto something there @jbern, I'm digging the EE and Z combo! @MattWillGolf My mockup for today. I am also leaning towards the heavier version as my ER11v is on the heavier side. But that will be part of the discussion with the fitter. @GolfSpy MPR Interesting timing for us testers on this MGS blog article: https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/first-look/should-you-switch-to-a-counterbalanced-putter/ I know that, unless the fitter at L.A.B. actively disuades me, my intention right now is to go counterbalanced. The Edel I'm using is, I suspect, at the extreme of weighting. I do not have (unfortunately) have a swing weight scale, but just compare these numbers of two of my putters, both 34": Put in some practice this morning in what might be the best-equipped putter studio in Michigan's Upper Peninsula: my basement. @TSauer I've watch a couple of videos on L.A.B.'s build process and I'm pretty sure every single putter goes through the revealer and the grip is a big part of the balancing act that the revealer... reveals. So I think if you wanted to use a grip that isn't from L.A.B. you would have to send it to them so they can install it during their club construction and balancing process. @Rob Person For me, the amount of time you take to learn The putters characteristics , the more benefit you will gain on the green. This goes not just in golf, but with anything. @cnosil Just remember, the ball pretty much goes where the face points at impact. You don't need to force putter rotation or a putter arc...You stand pretty close to the ball so there won't be a lot. With the DF3, they will tell you very light grip pressure and basically just move the putter back and forward. Line of the Week @ole gray This is going to be more fun watching than Uncle Rufus hunting for his upper plate after the state finals apple bobbing contest at the county fair! @GolfSpy MPR If we actually meet this expectation, we should all get special forum badges with an apple and a set of dentures. @Steve F ... and the hits just keep coming! Have been messing with my Golf Pad tracking app, finally figured out how to mark the pin.... so now I should be getting some better data! Apparently a trick that I wasn't aware of that now I am! Will be able to test it tomorrow night during League Play! This is panning out AWESOME!!! @Steve F VERY psyched! Got the email from L.A.B. golf last night, and I definitely have questions! Hopefully hear back from them today so I can discuss the options and their recommendations! And last but not least: @GolfSpy SAM A very happy birthday present to me - I've already told the testers, but figured I'd share here, too. Due to some VERY unforeseen (and happy) circumstances, I'll be joining in on the fun (not as an official tester by any means, but more as a happy co-participant). This was ordered yesterday (white Accra shaft, white pistol grip). To say I'm excited is a VAST understatement.

  34. Subbed in a league last night and shot 45 with a 9. A 9! Pin high in my third shot on a par 5 buy in some absolutely gnarly super deep awful rough. First hack was essentially whiff and the ball settled in even more. Hack two results in the classic deep rough hosel grab and a dead left to behind the green where I'm short sided. Tow bad chips and and two putts later and I am on the way to the next tee with a quadruple bogey.

  35. Spent about 30 minutes on the practice greens with the Mindsets today, same thing to be said after another great day of rolling them. Sunk my first 5 putts from 10-15 feet and felt unstoppable but then I took the balls further out and worked on lagging them around the cup. The line still holds true and I find that putting is where the Mindset alignment shines overall. But the balls are great and durable. Will see how my tee time this Sunday goes but the RXs are looking like strong candidates to add into my rotation between the Odin and Tour X balls I currently game.

  36. I’m down in Myrtle Beach now for my daughter’s track and field conference championships. I had a few hours before the start this afternoon so scouted around for a practice facility. Sure enough I found a winner Tupelo Bay about 2 miles from where I’m staying. It has an 28 hole executive course, par 3 course, grass and mat range. Putting green, and practice sand trap. The entire place is lit and open to 10pm. Medium bucket (70 balls, $14.00) Went through the bad starting with wedges up to the driver maybe 4 balls before switching and had enough balls to do it a second time. Then went over for chipping and putting. I’m liking the Golf Pride reverse taper putter grip. I picked up the large round. The grip was easy to get used to. I also used the Bridgestone Mindset balls. So far the ball feels good and performs well in chipping and putting.

  37. Got out for 9 holes, plus a couple extras yesterday afternoon at Lochmere Country Club in Tilton, NH which was a blast. Saw 2 other groups on the course the whole time. Started to feel the rust coming off when shoot +3 (38) for the front. Started off hitting 3 straight greens before some iffy drives and missed greens led to the bogeys. Short game needs a bit more warming up to be sure. Driver was hit or miss, I had a bomb on the 5th that plays way down hill, and might have gotten a touch of cart path help. Still was the longest drive that I have hit ever. Also the second drive shown was into #10 a really tough driving hole to avoid the water left but playing right leave a long way in on an uneven lie to an uphill green. This is by far the best drive I have ever hit on the hole, even though it was into the wind rolling out down the fairway.

  40. All depends when I roll in the night before, normally about 30 minutes before, sometimes 5 minutes before. A few chips and putts ... I'm good to go, sometimes with no warm up, just stretching I've played my best rounds. It's all in the golf gods hands how you day turns out.

    How'd you play?

I played this afternoon and didn't have a terrible round but wasn't great either. I keep reminding myself that I am making a major overhaul with my swing and I'm going to have bad shots. No doubles on the card but plenty of bogies and missed opportunities. I have another lesson in the morning and then weather permitting, a round in the afternoon. I am excited for the changes and see the pluses, but man I wish my middle name was patience. Haha.

  43. The difference between me receiving a product to test previously and me receiving my 6th product to test is (not boasting here mind you - showing maturity or so I'm deluding myself) now it is here, how do I set up an unboxing worthy of the product that is creative, unique and interesting to the membership and public who will access my review Previously it was, "oh I will just do it over there" (somewhere within a few strides) and blah blah blah, click click click, whatever. Experience gives me an understanding that the test will take a while, I get in 4 rounds (9 holes) per week on average, and there is only one unboxing so it is worth doing it right - and I have been thinking of what I want to do for a week so far...

  50. Tiger Woods. Great golfer but also a very self centered and arrogant person, even though the media portrayed him as some godly icon. Not even a nice person but most people didn't care as he'd been engrained in your minds as synonymous with golf. I never watched golf for years as the only person you could see on TV during a match was Tiger, even if he wasn't playing good, they'd show him over the tournament leaders, over, and over, and over again. Even if your favorite player was in the top 5 you couldn't watch it cause Tiger was on the screen. Really made me give up watching golf for 10 years as how do you follow favorites when they got zero screen time? I see the PGA still hasn't learned this lesson. Thus the rise of tours like LIV where everyone gets coverage. Like who cares what kind of sandwich Tiger was eating.... show me golfers in the hunt!!!!
