Just an absolute gorgeous day in New England.

Didn't play as well as I would have liked but CT National is a true hidden gem. The conditions are as good (or better) than some private courses in the area and only 49 on a very walkable track.

Paired up with another single who shot 74 from the tips. 🤯

Played there once several years ago!  Such a nice track. I need to get back there. Get those tuneup rounds in before NH!

  2. Had a good range session today that included a lot of long game work.

I took Mark’s Radspeed/Motore X F1 along for the ride to see if the 9* vs 10.5* and shaft combos would show anything different.

From the eye ball test while the 9* had a bit lower trajectory on average, but both were generally flying the same consistently  and landing in the same spots in the range.

what I found most interesting was the difference in feel at impact between the Ventus and Motore X.  They felt the same in the swing but the Motore felt sort of hollow at impact while the Ventus felt meaty. I know it wasn’t the head because I switched them around but I think it may have been the midsize grip on the Motore.  It was strange, but noticeable. I feel like I was loading the Motore X a little easier, but they’re really close.

    @B.Boston @Kenny B @RickyBobby_PR - Thanks for the help

To all you seasoned PM users:
Should I get into this thing mid-season? Or stash it in the closet for 4 months until the season is over, grind all winter, and emerge a new player next year instead of mixing in a bunch of playing with old habits?

So the whole first week is really focused on the short swing motion.  I can't see a reason why NOT to start at least that now.  My chip/pitching was immediately more crisp in contact but not significantly different in what I had for feel on distance.

Honestly if I did nothing else but that week one routine as winter practice I think I'd have a big jump on my year next season, but I wouldn't worry about screwing yourself up too bad.  But YMMV, so don't get mad at me if it takes an adjustment period! haha

I'm about to buy one of these used. The original owner never registered it and seems a bit confused by the process on the website.

Does it eventually ask you for a serial number on the PM to complete registration after you add it to your cart and checkout? Is there a waiting period before it is completed to get into the advanced content?

I'm pretty sure it asked me for my order number... It might be something worth giving them a call or e-mail about to see what you'd need.

If I remember right, Jack Nicklaus said he used his SW for almost all short game shots, while others used multiple clubs based on minimizing carry and maximizing roll-out for a particular shot.  I'm a "one primary club" guy for the most part, but there certainly are time where I'll use less loft when there's very little carry required.

Yeah I played for many years where my 58* was more comfortable to me than a GW or SW around the green.  The biggest change is probably that I am no really comfortable with my 52* so I default to that unless the circumstances require that I take more loft.

  6. I used to use my most lofted wedge for almost everything within its comfortable full swing range.

I've since started to try using my 52* if at all possible, then my 56* if I need more loft, then my 60* only when it's a more demanding situation or greenside bunker.

This seems to be working well for me, and is sort of in line with what Andrew Rice was talking about, while not being exactly the same.

I know plenty of people who are more comfortable using their LW for all of that stuff though.

You would be surprised. I loved it, I’m not a picky eater you know this but this is 1 guarantee I bring it somewhere no one would tell the difference. Actually not bad either lots of protein and potassium in them.

It's usually a texture thing for me... that looked like it would have a good texture to not be too weird.  and I do love me some peppers and onions.

My 7-year old son's travel baseball season ended last week, so of course tryouts for next season were last night.  We're trying out with a few different programs so we can be more selective for this coming season.

Anyway, this particular program last night gave the kids three throws and radar gunned them.  My son was thrilled that he threw the ball 327 mph.  I felt bad telling him there was a decimal point in front of the 7.

And yes, my son not noticing the decimal point might not be the punch line.  That some of these youth select baseball programs think radar gunning kids is necessary or actually worth anything probably is.

327! tell me he's a lefty on top of it and he'll have all the D1 programs looking to recruit!

Similarly, my son likes to add a "1" in front of his numbers at the driving range... so he's swinging his driver at 154 MPH.  I think they both have bright future's as elite athletes!

@B.Bostonalready hinted at this but I  found this happened to me when I stalled and stopped rotating/turning.  Martin Chuck really emphasizes using the body and your big muscles to control the club rather than your hands and arms, and it seems to me in my experience that was the "secret" to avoiding the band getting caught up as you describe.

What I still haven't figured out is that I feel like I've rotated as much as I can but still get the band under me or close to under me on full swings.  I have two thoughts as to why this could be right now:

    1.  My follow through is too flat going around my body vs up.  I know that I do not have that same vertical shaft feeling as I do on the 3/4 swings.

    2. I turn too much too quick for where my upper body is at impact.

I'm going to try to record some swings later if its dry enough with the planemate on and I'll share.

But I'd also like to add that the crispness of shots I've been seeing at the range and on the course have proven to me that even the slower speed swing work has had an impact on my game.  They weren't lying in the first week when they say that just the short band and pitching/chipping motion should improve your game.

When ours kicked formula then diapers we did a "woo hoo"...for a week...and then that money went straight into PreK...

I'll just have to belay a few club orders until she gets into Kindergarten 🙂

Yes, that last bottle/container of Formula feels great.  We only have one still in diapers now... and that should be ending soonish!

Thinking about what a new driver would look like in my bag.  I love my LST but the cosmetics of the SIM2 are so appealing that I am seriously considering a change.

I know that the distance differences are not very significant but when your brain starts telling you things you begin to lose confidence in what you currently play...

Also, doesn't help when Will Peoples sends you periodic updates about certain combinations in stock 🤣

sometimes you just need a change in the look and feel 😉 I'm sure there will be plenty of folks willing to take that PING off your hands too.

  12. All Hail the Cobra 5-wood!

Honestly though, before that I had a Ping G30 5-wood which I thought I might be buried with.  Turns out the Cobra is even better.  THere’s something to the bottom rails that make it so easy even out of light rough and it’s a bomber off the tee.  You owe it to yourself to try one out if still trying out different clubs in that slot of your bag.

For me the winning combination came with a heavy shaft.  I play a Ventus Blue 8S in mine.  I think the uncut weight is around 86 grams?  I was playing the Ping tour 80s in the G30.  Keeps me smooth with good spin off the tee and still enough to hit a playable shot into long par 5s.

    I'm an optimist!

And I'm very proud to have finished 2nd to you Bryan, in a hard fought friendly competition representing the game we all love🏌️‍♂️. And represented well!

I hope that competition always gives you confidence that you can achieve anything you work hard for.

We had an awesome group of guys!  I’m very proud of the work we did! I just happened to be lucky enough to end up with the most points in the end.  Those Clubs have fit in great for me.
