Irons and driver for sure. I liked both the M5 and F9 and Speedzone about equally. And the fact that It’s tour length which is where my g30 was I expect that to be more comfortable than the M5 which was waiting to be cut down when I regripped.

Wedges are 50/50. I LOVE the SM7s I have now and the versatility of the bounces. I recreated this with the MIMs but the bounces are different. I do expect to be impressed by them though!

Driver, fairway and wedges, most likely.

Having correctly fit wedges hopefully does a number for my woeful game from 75 and in. Right now I have wedges that are way too upright and with shafts I don't particularly love.

I don't hit my fairway wood at all right now, so my goal is to make that club a weapon from the tee on shorter holes, and maybe see if I can learn to hit it from the deck on longer par 5s.

Irons could be a toss up. We'll see how well I get along with the scoring irons, since my current Maltby PTMs are not quite as chunky. Looking at the lofts, I could play a split set with 4-7 Cobras and 7-GW Maltby PTMs pretty seamlessly.

Driver, well, because it's friggin' awesome looking. Also looking forward to the Rogue Silver because I'm sick of the telephone pole that is the HZRDUS Yellow in my Epic Flash.

Did you consider going with a 5 wood? I also hit 3-woods of all variety poorly. Probably a little more poorly than you. Haha

I did hit a 5 wood. It doesn’t seem to be a loft issue, for whatever reason, I just struggle to get a negative AOA when hitting off the turf. It leads to lots of thins and fats.

Gotcha. Probably why you prefer the long iron over the hybrid as well. You’ll figure it out sooner than later I’m guessing. With an index that low your golf IQ can’t be that bad. Haha

I have a “Trial and Error” handicap.

The only club that is gonna be tough to beat is my 2 iron. I’ve ordered a 3 hybrid to maintain similar gapping. I’ve never really gotten along with hybrids, and I’m expecting one of two things; either my 2 iron keeps its place in the bag 100% of the time, or the hybrid and 2 iron rotate based on course conditions and wind. Hopefully I get along with the hybrid, because some versatility coming into par 5 greens would be very nice.

Everything except the 2 iron. My wedges are worn out, and the gapping is all wrong. My irons weren’t even close to properly fitted, and my driver doesn’t maximize my swing speed’s potential. The 3W MIGHT have a close battle but only because I hit most 3 woods equally poorly. I don’t hit my current 3W well, but I don’t really think an equipment change is the solution.

I can’t see it on mobile—so I am going from memory.  Are/were you playing a “Trufit” driver from the webfitting?

A serious question  or three for the testers (and possibly no gifs), how is the baseline going? Are your current clubs performing better than ever?

Are you having second thoughts about putting the Cobras into play?

Using Arccos has been a fun, informative, humbling experience and a blow to the ego. All that being said, baseline has been going better than expected, though I have been playing a very open course that allows me to spray it off the tee and still recover. I have always played Cobra irons, my current set for 25 years, so no second thoughts at all about this challenge. Heck, if the SpeedZone Irons are as good as my originals I could be dead before I need another set!

Well. by nature of the competition.........All of them! I've been seriously in need of a major bag upgrade for years, so as long as they perform well I don't see going back to the old set after the challenge is complete. I did, however, express some trepidation to Cobra about removing my Callaway PM grind wedge.

2 iron??? Nice, man! Is the 2 iron more of an off the tee club, or is it in play from the course as well? My previous set had a 3 iron ... but the current set drops from the 3W down to the 4 iron, with a big 1.5 to 2 club gap.

Like you, I simply cannot hit the hybrid consistently. Tried the Taylormade Gapr Mid, has success initially, and then it went to 💩. I haven’t hit a 5W ... it’s just the initial setup seems too small for the club head on such a long shaft, doesn’t suit my eye.

And is the 2 iron a driving iron like Srixon’ sir a traditional iron? There’s quite a few courses here that have landing spots from the tee just before marshes ... a 2 iron off the tee would be perfect.
