Pre-round Shot Planning Application

Does anyone know of a good application (computer or smart phone) for planning shots BEFORE a round? I'm trying to find something that will let me draw arrows over a course which will automatically give yardages based on the length of the arrow. I like to try out new courses, so knowing how to play the hazards ahead of time would be great. Thanks.

I just used Google Earth to measure shots (great way to know when to not use your driver off the tee), but I still think it's lacking. If there is nothing out there, my winter project may be to write an app that does this, so if you have any requests for features, let me know.

So it's basically an app that works like an interactive birdie book? The idea sounds totally awesome... but have never heard of such app.

Even Google Earth lacks in this department... many of the courses I play are not even on Google Earth
