2023 Birdie Every Hole Challenge

Still working but not making much headway.

Played one of our 3 courses today, playing very well with a 70 Gross. Four birdies (two bogies) but did not birdie one of the 4 holes needed to complete that course.

Have one course needing 1 hole, one needing 4 holes and one needing 6 holes. Last year it was in Dec when finally getting the last hole for the year. Hope to finish sooner this year but not getting it done as yet.

Still have 4 holes left on The Bel.  Still have not birdied #6 or 8 on the front 9 and #16 or 17 on the back 9 for this season.

I got #13 last night which is one of the easier holes at my home course. I can't believe it took basically the whole season to get that one.  I also had my best look of the year on #12, a 9 footer below the cup that I left a few inches short dead center of the cup.  I just have 2 more holes to get this year, but they are both tough ones.

And #12 has been checked off the list!  Only 1 more to go, but it is the toughest rated hole on the course.

Still stuck on 5 different holes.  Haven't been able to get out on my course for the last 6 weeks or so, they've had outings and stuff, we've been playing other courses.  10th  round coming up, I'm hoping to check off one or two more, not sure how many more times I will get to it.  It is a course that doesn't shed water very well.   We will see.  Gives me something to shoot at for next year.

Finally, I finished one of our 3 courses - got the final hole this past week. Have played 65 rounds on White Wing course (total of 155 on all 3 courses) so am feeling pretty good about where the year stands.

Still have a few holes to get on the other courses. As I posted at the start of the year, I got the last hole in 2022 in the month of December, hope to be lucky enough to make that this year.

Just making sure you noticed if you go to top of page, there is a link which takes you to a spread sheet, where people track  birdies/pars etc.

I decided that I am going to try and make this happen before end of year.  I pulled out my scorecards from the past several months and after 2 birdies today, have 4 of the 18.   The bonus to todays birdies are that I got what I think is one of the hardest par 3's on my course knocked out.  Have a long way to go but we don't get super cold weather so I should be able to play a bunch before the end of the year.

Played my 10th round at my chosen course on 10-14-23.  Likely last one as it gets pretty wet from this point.  Ended this challenge with 5 different holes.  I did manage on this last round to birdie hole #2 for the 4th time.  I also managed to par the 9th hole which was the last one I needed.  Just need to work on spreading the birdies out a little next year.

Congrats on closing out the birdies!  I am 8 shy and one in particular is going to be tough!

Alright!  I am going to post another one now, for a different course(Erie Shores).  It is generally much flatter and an easier course than my previous one.  This is one I have already played 5 rounds on.  It is a place we play late, and early in the year, and one we will play almost exclusively whenever the lack of snow on the ground allows from this point until the end of the year.  Playing it this Saturday (Round 6)!

I was surprised when I put it in, that I only need a par on the Par 5 13th hole to finish off pars.  Only 3 different holes birdied.  See what will happen until the end of the year.

Getting to add one more to the list and I have kicked myself for not adding a second. 

Par 3 186 - wind behind and hit 7 iron pin high to 6ft.  Lipped out a right to left putt.

6th round at Erie Shores.  I Birdied one hole but it was a 2nd birdie of hole 11.  I did manage to close out pars with a par on the Par 5 13th, #1 handicap hole.

I am down to 4 more for my course and while they are not super difficult holes, the greens conditions are going to make a couple really difficult.

Played a 7th round at Erie Shores...hit 9-18 Greens in Regulation....  ZERO Birdies!!

It looks like I am going to finish the year with 17 out of 18.  I guess that gives me something to shoot for next year.

I am getting one last final run at getting a par on hole 7 this week Thursday. If I do that, I will have parred every hole on the course this year. Starting out where I was this year handicap wise, it's a huge accomplishment. What is funny is that I have birdied that hole multiple times .

44% completion rate of birdies, would love to get to 50%!

Had a minor car accident this morning so my sprinter is undrivable so will have to settle for practice at home, nothing serious just grazed my forearm more shock than anything. Two morons and I'm being kind stopped and said they saw me on my phone, my phone was actually not working because my provider had problems processing my payment for two days amazing the fu**wits that appear ... 

Warning to all animals don't run out in front of me driving because I promise I will try real hard to run you over and NOT try to miss you and hit a car, not sure how long it's going to take to fix my sprinter...

I have 3 holes left on my course to birdie and they present some challenges.

Hole 5 - 363 yds - This hole isn't necessarily difficult and I have had a number of birdie putts but with the condition of the greens, it all depends on where the flag is located.  Tee shot is pretty straight but the fairway slopes left to right and if you find the left rough, it's pretty thick.  The green is elevated and the best miss is short right.  Any other miss will roll down the hill and leave a difficult chip.  

Hole 7 - 340 yds - From the tee box you hit over a low spot out to the dogleg left fairway.  You have a FW bunker on both the left and right with an additional tree on the right hand side.  This green is one of the worst ones on the course and looks as though a bunch of bombs have been dropped on it.  It will be one of the holes that I have to hit within a couple feet if I plan on getting birdie or be extremely lucky on a putt through the rollercoaster.

Hole 11 - 367 yds - This hole is in almost a ravine type setting with a drainage ditch at about 200 yds from the tee box.  You have a tree that can be in the way at 60 yds on the right side and trees down the left side.  If you hit down the left side, you are left punching under the trees and hoping you can hit the elevated green.  The green is also guarded by a large tree on the right front of the green so anything too far right and you will be left aiming at the left side of the green.  The green is in good shape but slopes from back to front and I have backed several golf balls off the green and down the hill.  This hole really comes down to placement off the tee and having a shot at the green.

Still squeezing in rounds here.  Actually 50 something here, VERY nice day for this time of year.  Got two more, and a repeat of #11 for a 3rd time.  Start over for 2024 shortly.

Squeezed in an 11th round at Powderhorn yesterday.   Birdied #13 for a second time, and added a new one on the par 5 16th.  At 33% now.  Hopefully improve next year.

Well, the year is about to end and I am very happy with the results.

Finished all holes on two of our three courses and will leave one hole un-birdied on the third course. It is the #2 handicap hole and is mentally intimidating but we shouldn't let that stand in the way - if only.

It's been a great year and a lot of fun to track hole status all year. Played 199 rounds this year and have one more round tomorrow but not on the course with unfinished business. Guess it gives me something to strive for next year. Will be looking for the 2024 thread.

I missed 2 holes, had the rest covered reasonably early too.

 

A friend of mine had a solid start on this, birdied 5 of his first 8 holes for the year. He's a bit better than most of us
