Popular Post PrismFlopper
Goodmorning/afternoon spies! It’s Friday and no one actually works on a Friday! Jk. But yeah working 16 hrs today and then have drill for the army reserves this weekend so looking like on course time isn’t going to happen but I think range time could be managed. Really wanting to work more on the driver some more and looking into 3 woods or hybrids. Looking for something at around 14 deg. Maybe in that realm depending on distances. Need like a 250-270 club to make up the massive 230yd 4i and 310 driver distances. The 2i is at like 265ish yds but doesn’t get much play. Trying to dial in for the tournament in playing next Saturday. It’s just a for fun 4 person scramble but only 2 of us are actual like reliable to hit a shot and the other two are just there for the drinking. Have a good weekend and hit some bombs, let the fairways be rolling on bad shots and the wedges be sticking! Popular Post snoopy79
Morning/Afternoon all! It's been a busy week here at the Snoopy household. Mainly because of my work schedule, my son getting setup for his schooling (starts in a month! yikes!), and getting ready for my Mom to come visit. Gotta clear out the spare bedroom. All that said I did get out to hit balls at the range yesterday, got some footage for the SM10 test and worked on my tempo more. This weekend is mowing, driving to get mom, and chillin like a villain. Have a great day & weekend spies! Popular Post HikingMike
Good morning and happy Friday! I only got 3 holes in this week due to the rain (yep it was Beryl, etc) Monday and Tuesday. It was good for the plants at home for sure. And this weekend, our schedule is actually mostly clear (holy smokes I can't believe it). Back to 90s temps though. So I plan to visit a driving range for sure! I think I'll send out a text to buddies to see if anyone else wants to join. I saw the MGS review of Dechambeau's Youtube and there was a video on there about repeatability of shots. Yeah, that's something I definitely need, haha. Somehow my reliable draw turned into a fade or slice now, mostly just with driver. Since the beginning of the season I have been trying to ease back the inside-to-out a bit so I can reduce my huge hook misses. But I wanted to keep the natural draw! Somehow my natural swing has just flipped. This potentially worse than my hooks because it is a two-way miss and maybe even more unpredictable. I haven't hit a natural fade as my stock shot in forever. It is more so on driver than other clubs, and it's currently set to the big minus setting, so I'm thinking also about just cranking that back to standard. Anyway, plenty to work on. And otherwise my game has been doing great lately. @skraeling and @Preeway - your home brewing mentions sound cool. I've always wanted to do that so I'm a bit jealous. Someday I'll get into it, when I have less other stuff to worry about. No IPAs though, blechh, haha. By the way, good luck with your 4 yards of dirt, geez. And for all the health stuff, @Rob Person included, I hope you're doing well! I hate that when there is nothing obvious to pin it on, but it's probably a good thing in the end. By the way anxiety is an incredibly weird thing, so can't rule it out even if you don't feel it or aren't an "anxious person". But sounds like there isn't much to go on at all, so no idea right now what it is, and just have to keep an eye out. I have been dealing with plenty of health problems among family members on both sides this year. That kind of year for us I guess. Oooh, let me throw in this fun shot from a couple weeks back. On the tee shot, I actually must have hit the edge of the cart path asphalt on the fly well to the right of the big tree there, because we saw a gigantic bounce left! So it ended up past and left of the tree rather than right, and of course with plenty more distance. With the sideways bounce it probably went more like 370 or something if you count the bend. Shortest second shot I ever had on that hole from the blue tees. I got lucky. I definitely need to hit it left of where I did! Believe it or not, the ball only had a little scuff and I kept playing it. And of course I could only manage par. Well, haven't packed yet. I hit enough balls to diagnose why I have been playing so poorly; my swing had become way too steep. Hopefully I've patched together a fix to get me through tomorrow's round. Photos: Moray Firth, dead calm, which like never happens. There were a ton of people out of Chanonry Point with expensive cameras looking for Flipper, but no dolphins to be seen. The Inverness airport is somewhere in that direction. A little bit to its southwest (right as you look at the photo) is Cabot Highlands, formerly known as Castle Stuart. Outstanding links course, now owned by the Bandon Dunes folks, with a price tag to match: $383 at today's exchange rates. It is not on my itinerary. I could play it for about $195 as a member of a Scottish golf club. Thanks but no thanks. For 2025 its going up to $428 per round. Fortrose Cathedral with some dork in front of it. There's a World War I memorial right in front of it, to the 33 men from this part of Ross-Shire who gave their lives in the great war. Me on the first tee at Fortrose & Rosemarkie after I figured out what was wrong with my swing. Wished I was playing today with no wind, but if I've learned anything during this trip, it's that back to back rounds are to be avoided. I limited the range work to about 30 balls for that reason. Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Good morning Spies! Up at the crack o' chickens for my last full day in Scotland. Clean up, pack, drive an hour and a half to Brora, hopefully play some decent golf, come back down to Inverness, buy candy for GF at her request, put gas into the car, check into the hotel, and then get up at 4:15 Sunday to catch my flight. I suspect I will crash quite early tonight. It's been different than the October trip, which involved traveling all over the country. Longest drive of this trip is less than 60 miles this morning. Brora is a James Braid design. Braid won the British Open five times as a player, but his lasting impact is as a designer. Some people wonder when Braid slept or ate, he designed so many courses in the UK. Including Carnoustie, Gleneagles King's Course, and about 200 others. You share the course at Brora with sheep, cows and rabbits, which is why there are electric wires to keep Baa Baa and Bossy off the greens. (You get free relief if your ball lands in sheep poop.) I didn't see any cows or rabbits last year, although I certainly saw rabbit droppings, and the sheep were huddled against the out of bounds wall on the west side of the course. gingerbeast87, Byrnzee, Rob Person and 13 others 5 2 9 Quote Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb. Give them a look. Hope all SPYs get to hit the course over the weekend, if so, play a few holes for me. I wont be off until Tuesday morning and golf on Wednesday. Popular Post Northern Monkey
Good morning all, no golf today as the dog has hydrotherapy today and the Boss wants to go out. @ILMgolfnut good luck for today and hope your trip home goes well. @skraeling I don’t envy you having to shift that pile. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take too much out of you. Hope you all have a great weekend and it involves golf Byrnzee, Josh Parker, sirchunksalot and 11 others 14 Quote Driver: G430 Max Fairway: LTDx Max 3 wood Hybrid: King Tec 3 hybrid Irons: Forged Tec 4-PW + GW Wedges: Jaws 56 SM9 52 Putter: Mallet Ball: Chrome Soft
Popular Post berkeleybob
Morning all. @ILMgolfnut Sounds like you’ve had a quite a trip. Safe trip home! @buckpillar Nice score with the Lombardi putter! A “100-year event” storm had been forecasted to roll through today, threatening to back up sewers and flood streets and cellars in our home area and make the drive home hazardous—the highways and country roads are lively with folks hauling camping caravans to and from. We were flooded last year, so we left a day early to prep. That’s okay, really, the best weather on the coast was still overcast, so we didn’t miss out on too much—and all in all, a relaxing time. Suffice to say, no golf today. Have a good one.
