I've been busy today taking care of my daughter after her wisdom teeth removal. She’s currently resting on the couch and has been such a trooper throughout the day. Wishing everyone a good evening!

Good evening spies! Flying out tomorrow, of course saved the best course for last. If you’re in the Austin area, play Falconhead! It’s no joke and pretty long from the back sets of tees. Played with Jonathon, a fellow airman I served with. We played from the blues, but I think the course played a trick on us because the yardage from the blue tees is 6295. Not so, the blues were pretty much right in front of the black. I’ll bet we played 7000 yards. Here are some pictures and a movie of the practice range:

Glad you enjoyed it!  Of course I don't know if it's the best course because of the company or conditions.

Am I actually getting us started here haha. Took Mr. Pickles to the vet early this morning then I was able to get my Tour Striker First Impressions up if you guys are interested in following along!

Besides that, tonight is my 2nd Biology class which still feels weird to say. Doesn't seem like we're learning anything groundbreaking since I am attending a Tech school.

Evening spies.  Had the pleasure of seeing this ancient set of clubs and bag today.

Played 18 today.  Best bad golf I’ve ever played, 82…

1. Par - split fairway with drive, 250 into wind, thinned a knockdown 8 to 18’, 2 putt par.

2. Par, 290 yard bomb with a crosswind, fatted a PW short, chipped to 6’, 1 putt par.

3. Par, 201 whole yards off the tee… hit a tree, 2 iron, PW thin and short right, chipped to 8’, 1 putt par.

4. Par, Chunked another PW short of the green… 54° to 7’, 1 putt par.

5. Bogey, absolutely flubbed a 3 iron a whole 133 yards… 8 iron got hung up in the wind (best strike of the day, and should have more than covered it, 4 club wind.) Chipped a 54°very poorly, 2 putts.

6. Bogey, yanked the heck out of an 8 iron into a sweet side hill lie, fluffed a PW to the fringe.  2 putts.

7. Par, 284 yard drive, wind really knocked this thing down even though it was behind me, must have been down because it took the apex right out of the shot.  Behind a tree, hacked a 5 iron, flubbed a 54°, 2 Putts, crushed the first one or it was in.

8. Double… yikes, great drive to end of fairway into wind.  9 iron again got hung up.  I should have hit a 7 or maybe 6.  This wind sucks.  Bunker, first time in months I’ve been in the sand.  Hard packed and skipped the 54° right over the green, 54° again, 2 putts… terrible.

9. Par, Another absolute bomb of a drive that the wind said no thank you to,  had a flier lie at 70 yards, hit it perfectly, but it caught the lip of the bunker and again we are in the trap.  Sand was a lot better, 54° to about 9’, 1 putt par.

10. Bogey! Par 5 bogey! Screaming low fade under the trees. But it didn’t fade as much as I wanted.  Chipped out with the 2 hybrid. 6 iron into the wind. Forgot to account for the wind… another bunker.  54° to 10’, 2 putts…  

11. Par?  Wow.  Left the face wiiide open on a 9 iron, 54° to 15’, 1 lucky putt.

12. Par!!!, 2 hybrid, PW, 2 putt par.  Beautiful golf shots.

13. Par, another nuked drive that got its sails taken out from under it.  (Do I need a spinier ball?), shorted yet another PW, 54° to 3’, 1 putt.

14. Par, tried the Left Dash on this hole just to see if the higher flight would do anything, looked like it was going 300 in the air… but 266 is all I managed.  Best struck drive of the day downwind, it should have went a mile. Left ANOTHER PW, short, 54° to 8’… and one more lucky putt.

15. Bogey… tried the Z Star Diamond here. Another absolutely crushed center strike butter cut.. 268.  The wind is just taking the top off these things! You guessed it, I left another effing PW short.  Bad chip. 2 putts, missed par by about 3mm.

16. Bogey again on a Par 5… there were all sorts of distractions here. A truck driving through the hole to a work site, a lady walking right on the left side of the hole, and a faders nightmare wind, into and across wind.  Blocked out by trees, 2 iron fat. Over cooked the 8 iron, shiitake 54° pitch, 2 putts.

17. Par, pulled the drive or I would have driven the green.  Chipped to 12’, 2 putt par.

18. Double…………. Alignment issue on this tee shot.  It went straight, but the wrong way, behind a tree.  Chipped to fringe, chipped again, 2 putts.

 

Two doubles really sucks.  Also, the first bogey hole really irked me.  The tee box is fairly unlevel and I didn’t take that into account.  I was losing shots right again, ball striking was not good at all.  Maybe 3 “good” iron shots all day.  Driver did not let me down once, it was me miss aiming.  Putter was a life saver, PING(y) ain’t going anywhere.  I really dislike playing in wind, or at least 15+ with bigger gusts.  
 

I do think it is time to take a look at the V1x.  I think I am too low spin right now.  Or, maybe Titleist can put the left dot on the market.  I know it’s not higher spinning, but I really liked that ball.

This may come as a huge surprise to everyone, but i am going to attempt listening to music on the course next round.  This is stuff got me through college, so I am going to see if it can do anything to my golf game.  Perfect song for the 1st tee.

Good evening Spies!

Snuck out to the driving range after work to get some practice in. Was just doing my normal routine, when I notice a guy standing behind me. He was just watching me hit a few shots and then complimented me on my swing. He told me he had just gotten into golf and was wondering if I could give him any tips.

I told him I wasn't an instructor, but would try to give him some advice that may help. First thing I noticed with his swing was that it was all arms; body turn was essentially non-existent. Told him to focus on making a big shoulder turn and try it out. He immediately started making better contact and the ball was flying much further than before. He was downright giddy.

That was a fun boost to the ego, especially with how much work I've been doing on my own golf swing lately. He also had an old persimmon driver in his bag that he let me try out - I absolutely roped it towards the back of the range. Him and his friend went crazy 

Anyways, figured if anyone would appreciate that story it would be the Forum folk. Hope you all have a great rest of your night!

I could not agree more with your selection, that really is serenity music for the awesome surroundings of a golf course.
