I need to see the pro and sort this nonsense out. /LoveGolf Update- had a 30 min Trackman and video lesson with the pro today. It's very clear what the issue is and very clear how to improve. By about 15 mins in he had me hitting sweet 6 iron draws about 180yds. Now it's just about repetition and convincing myself to commit to this lower half change/improvement. perseveringgolfer
Played quite well today- lesson has given me extra length- even surprised myself with longer tee shots! real issue is I cant chip! fatted or thinned nearly every chip- reached all par 5's in two (beside the green) then fatted or thinned a par or bogie. bardle
Shot a horrid 109 today. Every iron shot was horrible. Low left knuckleballs for the most part and topping it. Had one decent iron shot all day on the 170 yard par over water so that's a bright spot. Didn't realize until I got in the car to leave that I was lengthening my backswing too much and couldn't get the face to square properly. Wedges and putting we're on fire though. If I could have made it to a green in less than 3 or 4 strokes I probably would have had a good day. cksurfdude, MattF and PING Apologist #9 3 Quote RH: Driver: F9 9.0º - 14g Low - Evenflow White T1100 75G X Woods: F9 3W - Evenflow White T1100 75G X Hybrids: F9 3H - Aldila Green X Irons: F9 One Length 4-PW - Modus3 Tour 105 S Wedges: King Wedges 50º/54º/58º Versatile Putter: Sigma G Tyne 35" Ball: Srixon Z Star XV #cobraconnect19

pulledabill
Been two months since Ive played and two months since my left hand had surgery and 6 weeks for the right hand. Finally decidedto hit the course for a test. No idea how it woukd go as a bit weak and tender still. The first 3 holes I dropped 4 fours in the 80 to 100 range. Each hole I got a littke better. Almost gave up on #1 but I stuck it out. Pain was light just not mych strength . It was 40 degrees with 20 mph gusts which didnt help. 4th hole was into the wind so I hit a 5i off the tee. Yea, long irons arent happening. The next two holes I piped river off the tee.40 yards short but felt good. Hit wedges, short irons. hybrid, driver, 5w, and they felt good. Any iron longer then a 7i Im not ready for. .Planned to play a few more today , but Mother Nature dropped a couole inches of snow over night. My goal after surgery was to he hitting easy shot at the end of Feb start of March. The dream was to be playing fully mid zmarch but I think Ill still be going easy another month. patrickleeleep
Happy but disappointed in my play Tuesday. Worked early morning so had time to get a round in after. Got paired with an later age man and his and the son also had his toddler with him which was quite annoying but it was a $30 round so oh well. Shot 48/43 on a tees one back than I normally play at this course and the wind started to pick up a tad. Had a triple on the front and triple on the back and also a 3 putt on each side which of course were different holes from the triples. A lot of room to shave some strokes but overall was playing pretty good minus a few holes. cksurfdude
Well..... After boasting about my new 9-hole PB (on a short course), I naturally followed that up on a regulation 9 with a very messy 49. Which felt like a lot more - I topped a number of tee shots, duffed a bunch of follow on shots and blundered through several 3 putts.... Clearly did not meet my goals of hitting fairways and avoiding 3 putts!! Next 9 hole round, on another new course, started off badly but on the Par 3 #3 I landed it pin high left but just off the green .. and managed a nice up and down for a par .. yea! After that I settled in and started landing on fairways and keeping the ball moving in the proper direction. Several bogies, one double after a tee shot went OB, one par and then a birdie on the last hole - which turned out to be the #1 handicap hole! Go figure..... On the last day of our trip (South Texas, near S Padre Island) we played 18 and this time I started off really well .. +3 on the first 6 holes with .. an almost par (second putt hung on the edge), par, bogey, par, par with a 1 putt, bogey with a 3 putt (after hitting the Par 3 green). Then the wheels came off and I stumbled through a major blow-up hole - water carry on the tee shot and then again on the approach. Not sure what I did but I seemed to completely lose the ability to connect clubhead to ball.... Took a few holes to get the rhythm going again, and finished up ok with a string of bogeys. All in all I'm actually happy with the progress I'm making with my game. Especially the short game - when it's working it's getting pretty good. Yeah still a lotta work to do on full shots but with more lessons lined up and more practice time I really feel like I'm moving closer to playing sub-90s golf. pulledabill
Scored my first post surgery round. Reasonably satisfied wven though I played the reds. Cant really hit long irons yet so no point of playing back quite yet. Just not a whole lot of hand strength to generate club speed quite yet. Shot 43 after doubles on 8 and 9. Missed a couple short par putts but not a surprise considering Im pretty rusty. Really a good round to be honest post hand surgeries....all good from here on out. fixyurdivot
42/41 at Mesa Del Sol yesterday. Pretty stiff winds and they were coming from opposite of normal. This made two par 5's reachable in two that normally are not. With a good round in progress, I normally would have taken my usual conservative route (layup), but a couple of us in the group with the distance ability gave them a go. Both are across water protecting the front of the green so, even with the aid of the wind, you need a flush hit. On the first, I flushed my 3w, but pulled it left into a waste bunker - pin high however. The second, I hit my 4i and it landed dead center of the green but rolled into a rear bunker. My takeaway is that being able to reach these in two brings in just enough risk that, odds are, we're better off playing layups as typical. Do any of you play some holes that are like this - where wind really changes how you play them? fozcycle
Played the Wilson Triton with Hogan irons again today. Shot a birdieless 40/45:85. I gamed the Cleveland HB Soft putter. Not bad for clubs that have not been used in a year.
