I'm undecided but I may throw my own shaft in on Friday and just "play a round of golf". I kind of need a break from testing!

... And I would recommend you then do the same wish your D7. Just play a round of golf and see how on course performance compares to your own shaft. Don't measure drives, or keep any stats. Just play golf. It wasn't until I ignored everything about my D7 from range performance to waggling and just played golf that mine really started to reach its true potential.

Ive gone the opposite route for my ventus testing haha.  I doubled down on the data, my thinking that its all valid info even poor games.  If a shaft can handle me at my worst when im say trying too hard, then no where to go but up and its not like I cant play a s***** game with my gamer shaft right 😄

This is a little more where my head is at too. I kind of want to be able to count on a driver when the chips are down and just rip it. I'm going to try the DF7 at the range tomorrow before my round in the non-flat +1 (still chasing a draw flight) and if it seems semi-consistent I might push through and play it.

I also have my first golf lesson in ~25 years next week, so we'll see how that goes (!).

Haha that’s at least as long ago as my lesson was (around 12yo-ish).

My miss is an over draw.  Went from a slice to a hook over the past 3-4 years.IMG_9523.jpeg.f8ff270c85e1b7bcbd6587de7b092e0a.jpeg

I completely agree with this approach.  Didn’t look at this data until post round.  Drove the ball well, but couldn’t putt to save my life.

Moved the rear weight on my TSR3 from neutral to one notch toward the toe.  Seemed to give me a bit more of a fade than straight drives.  Missed a few more fairways but seemed to be a bit more forgiving on mishits.  I should note that at a Titleist OEM fitting this is the setting they recommended.

Drove it mostly between 257-268 yds.  The shorter end due to rolling into fairway bunkers but I should note that on my home course many of the fairway bunkers are in a tight portion of the fairway so misses were not by much.  Two good drives went 287 and 325 yds.  Not sure I like the weight setting due to the ball flight visually but it seems to be more forgiving.  Bottom line, the Dream 7 continues to perform.

I have played more than 10 rounds on my Dream 7 and while this also captures my 3W drives, the AF is still an accurate KHT rocket.

You have me beaten 🙂 I was looking a fair bit better before the AF testing began - I was in pretty low on right misses, and pull hook was the miss.

So last week I teased something new this week in my testing of the Dream 7 shaft.

As I think I mentioned, I had the tip changed from the PING which I did almost all of my Forum Testing on the G430 10K.   But last week I took it to 2nd Swing (boy the 2nd call out for 2nd swing on this page!!) and had them switch the adapter to the Titleist.

I had a range session with it last week, and I think I posted some numbers from that.   If I didn't or you missed it, I was getting some of the best numbers yet, with a few thrown in with High Spin which is not unusual on the TSR 1.

Ok, on to what I promised.

Yesterday, I was fortunate to be invited to a private fitting for the Titleist GT that has only been launched on Tour.   But Titleist has begun fittings for it's staff and select other members of the media/influencers.    I'm not sure which category I fall in, but I was invited so that's all I care about 🙂

I can't publish any actual screen shots or pictures of data, as the product is still under embargo.   But I will say, we started out getting a baseline of my TSR 1 with the Dream 7 in it.   And I was seeing pretty consistent numbers that I have seen on my testing, ball speeds in the 123 to 126 range, carry 195 to 198 and totals of 212 to 218, spin was high 2800 and some over 3,000.

Then we put the Dream 7 in the new GT2  head, and while I won't say the whole world exploded, there were a couple noticeable changes right away.   My ball flight was more of a draw, don't ask how or why, we had the sure fit settings to the same as on my TSR 1.   But most importantly spin came down to the 2400 to 2500 and It stayed exactly in that range, really never varying more than 50 or so RPM on any shot.  That' is one of the big things that's being touted in this whole line is spin consistency.

We also tried the shaft in the GT3 with a few different weight track changes.  Numbers were pretty similar there as well as the GT2, nothing drastically different to report.

Then we hit the GT4, not because either of us thought it would be a good fit for me, but the wanted me to just see and feel it.   I actually had some pretty decent drives with it that I certainly could have played if they had been on course.   The only drawbacks were the launch was a bit lower and the spin was a lot less (as it should be) like in the 1800 to 1900 range.  So the shots didn't stay in the air long enough.

So I'l be putting my final review up in the next day or two.  But when the GT2 driver arrives, I'l  definitely pop the Dream 7 back in and go out for some more testing to add to the post review thoughts.

Really interesting stuff. It sounds like Titleist have found the "spinsistency" approach that Ping did with the 10K, but sounds like the head itself is a better fit for the Dream 7.

Did you notice any dispersion differences with the GT2/GT3 compared to your 10K or was it pretty comparable?

So yes on dispersion.  Granted it was one fitting session.  But the really cool thing is if i could have gotten a dispersion chart of all the driver shots with the 2 and 3 and the different shafts.  It would have been a very small circle. While under Embargo they arent letting too much data or visuals out there.
Also when embargo is up i can share some thoughts they have on 10K.

@ZMendle10 I really enjoyed your review. Sounds like someone with a smooth tempo could really beneit from this shaft but if you swing hard then maybe something different works better. Sound about right. I was impressed, even a little shocked, to see the results that Sam @chisag was able to get but it makes sense if it's designed for a smooth tempo vs. a more attacking "DeChambeau" like swing.

... You and me both! But it is almost like autoFlex designed a shaft specifically for my swing. It just feels so wrong when I waggle it and so right when I swing it.

Brief update here... My driving has been abysmal of late (in any shaft) and it was the nudge I needed to go get a lesson. I had my first lesson (in literally two decades) today and at the end was completely mashing driver (for the first time in a long time).

I'm going out on the course to try my new swing witchcraft tomorrow, and if it goes well I might try to put the Dream 7 back in the rotation again to see how it gets on with a proper golf swing 🙂

Just a quick update.

Tried the rear weight to one notch from Neutral based on the Titleist fitter.  It works in keeping the left out of play but  I lost 10-12 yards and did open my drives more to the right.

So went back to neutral this week and I like the way the Autoflex is working for me on drives.

I still wonder if the SF505x would have been a better fit for me (even if my swing speed put me into an SF405x)... hmmmmm.

Another quick update - driver swing is starting to come together for me after some range sessions. It's a very challenging thing to try to groove swing changes after 20+ years of the same swing. Hopefully short term pain = long term gain.

I'm getting out on the course tomorrow, but think I'm going to stick with the Chrome 2.0. The plan for next week is to try a few swings with the Autoflex and the lighter back weight. I did try it briefly at the range last week, but it waws the end of the session and it kind of felt like swinging a snake at that point. Again, this is a me problem, not the shaft.

I also just started a new job and so it has meant rounds per week has dropped from 3 to fewer than 1 so far.

I have also wondered if the double X flex of the original autoflex would have been a better fit as well

Some recent drives on the finishing hole.

It’s been a great shaft for me.   This is a tricky driving hole, so accuracy is key with a straight or slight fade to get to the right part of the fairway.

... As the young folk like to say, it's been a minute. So hot here in Phoenix this summer with temps hovering around 115* but dropped down to 106* today. 2 of my friends came out of reverse hibernation and played with me today. One had not seen my autoFlex Dream 7 and had a chance to hit it on the range. He is 36 and carries his driver around 270 so mine is a little soft for him but he hit it surprisingly well from the very first swing. Not quite as well as his Kiyoshi Purple Oban but considering he probably needed 2 flex's up it was impressive.

... For me it continues to be more accurate than any shaft I have played and my draw is pretty much gone completely. Every now and then it turns just a couple yards to the left. It has taken awhile to trust that I don't need to start it down the right side and every now and then I hit it too far right because it just doesn't come back those 5 yds like my driver has pretty much my entire golf career. Small price to pay and now I just have to aim a hair right of middle. So yea, still entrenched firmly in the bag and I have not even hit another shaft. And that is a real first for me! 🤪

... Btw my young friend said he could feel the Dream 7 flex quite a bit on the backswing but the downswing didn't feel loose at all. I told him that was the Korean Hidden Technology working and he said he saw that on the shaft but wanted to know exactly what it was. I let him know friendship only goes so far and:

Had a lesson 2 weeks ago since my driver was a bit wayward and essentially my problem was lifting my front foot during the downswing causing an inconsistent 2 way miss if not timed correctly. Been seeing some real progress with this change and figured this might have not been giving the Dream 7 the fairest of shakes. I took the Dream 7 to the range tonight and put in the 8g weight in H1 and the TSR3 was humming with the Dream 7. I am still unsure if it is a honeymoon phase but it has warranted further testing again at the very least. If I wake up early enough tomorrow morning I can hit the simulator before work and get some numbers against my current setup as well.

The Dream 7 isn't dead yet but it still has a long way to go.
