Good start to the week.  Had to start on the back 9 today as they were spraying the greens....headed to the front and had to wait....grrrrr...3 some teeing off.  Let me play through half way down #2.  Bogeyed that and the next.  Other than that pretty straight forward.  Lots of ups and downs again....cart path only on the front as we had 3 inches rain on Friday night....lot of courses closed in the area.

Was supposed to play in a 2 couple 4 person best shot on Sunday in my hometown of Forest City, IA.  But it currently looks like this.  That is hole number 7 in the upper right and 8 fairway on the bottom and the cart sheds.

This round took so many turns and twist. Had flashes of great play and some shots I would love to forget about. Additionally, the greens on White Wing were just punched and extremely bumpy. Blue tees with rating of 68.5 and slope of 123.

Play like a champion today!

Played the Highlands Golf course in Post Falls, Idaho. Played the white tees and had fun out there. The pace was a little slow and played in 4-1/2 hours. Lost one ball in a lake but overall not a bad track to play in Northern Idaho.

Personal best this season.

Didn't loose a golf ball, found a new swing thought/feel on the range that felt easy, but also lead to a few pulls with irons however the first round out the the T Squared putter and I was draining putts! Had 29 total with only 13 putts on the back 9. Managed 3 birdies and 8 bogies with 7 pars. First 3 holes were bogey, bogey bogey and all were playing pretty simple. Anyway, is what it is and loving the putter as well as how the game is trending.

Statistically, it had to happen sooner versus later.  I was on (for me) a hot streak.  My last eight rounds were pretty consistent.

image.png.b5bc649803e294e15d8c1558ad9ea95d.png

With a playing handicap of 10, during those 8 rounds I was at or slightly above my handicap.  USGA/GHIN data for millions of rounds indicates one should typically shoot at or below their handicap only once every four to five rounds (20-25% of the time).    Given that I had a great run for an extended period of time, I knew that I was likely to fall back to earth shortly.  Shortly came today!

The funny part was that making my way around the course, I really didn't play as bad as my score indicated.

image.png.708dcec8de22c8bc0d1b2b9dffd4d754.png

I hit 93% of the fairways (only missing one) and 17% of my greens in regulation (which is one better than usual).  Only being short two-thirds of the time would have been a positive for a normal round.

With only three up and downs for pars was about half of what I would have in a decent round.

Today, my putter let me down (or maybe I let my putter down)!  30 putts with a three putt is unusual for me.  I wish I could say it was due to aeration and top dressing.  Our greens are finally healed (which only means they will likely aerate again next week).  Today, I found just about every way I could miss a putt.  In general, my lag putts were reasonable.  It was those pesky 8-10 footers that just got away from me.   Most were close, either dead center and short, slipping by the edge or lipping out.  It was just one of those days!

Let's hope that Thursday brings a better putting and scoring day!

Hot as hell today (96, 106 heat index). Snuck away for golf league. Had a slow start and then finally got in a groove. Went 43/39.

71.6/131, one birdie, long drive 291. Was a bit wild off the tee, cost me four (!!!) penalty strokes. Somehow, still gained over 2 strokes off the tee.

I was able to sneak out last minute for a twilight round at a course I've never played. Wasn't expecting to get all 18 in, but the few groups ahead of us didn't make the turn. Played the front 9 in a little over two hours and the back 9 in under 1.5. We were hustling to beat the daylight and just barely finished up. It was a bit of a drive (35 minutes or so) but can't beat $25 for twilight golf with a cart. I'll definitely be back to the course, The Links at Bowen Lake was great, a nice variety of holes, some more rolling meadows and others tree-lined. Tree-lined holes were very tight but long enough that you couldn't club down too much.

Rough round today. It wasn’t a very good round today. We got delayed my thunderstorms at the start. Although I only lost 1 ball, it could have been more for the way I played. I was all over the place today. I did have 1 birdie, but that was the only bright spot in the round.

So nice I did it twice! The kids are in golf camp so I walked 9 again while they were learning and shot the exact same 41 today as I did yesterday…although in a very different manner. Yesterday I dunked one in the water on 1 and then scrambled like mad with several up and downs to earn a 41.

Today I birdied 1 and then didn’t make another putt outside of 2’ the whole day and the bogey train got me and I fell to a 41.

Played the Circling Raven Golf Club at the Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort. The course is very beautiful and plays very hard if you hit it in the sand. Every double bogey today was a sand trap. The price is pretty high but worth it. My wife even stated that she would play it again. So if you are up in this area of Idaho, think about playing this course.

DelMonte Golf Course: White Tees- 6100yds.  70.4/128

What a way to start the golf week, and a wonderful recover from an abysmal round over the weekend. Had a terrible round Saturday last week and spent the 4 days in between trying to figure out the issues, back to basics and good course management. Played the front even (1 birdie/1 bogey/7 pars). Had a couple really good saves including 30’ putt for par!
Back nine started with an 8’ birdie that lipped out, followed by a pair of bogeys.  Reached the par 5 12th in 2!  But ran the eagle putt just high on my line, with a tap in birdie.  The balance of the back was a bogey and par flipflop to the finish.  My optimism says my game is on the mend, fingers crossed 🫰🫰🫰🍀

So mad I've missed the first 9 weeks but I am back! Really enjoyed this last year! I went over this in the how'd you play thread but I got up and down 8 of 9 times in this round and had 27 putts which really saved my wildness off the tee.

I FINALLY DID IT.... BROKE 80!!!!

No penalties off the tee (or at all), no 3-putts, and no double bogeys

Solid day off the tee, only 1 hole where I didn't have a shot at the green

Had some great speed control on the greens

Here is a kicker .... I'm in middle of doing the testing for the Caddy Daddy Claw gloves and today was the first time using on the gloves on the course .... (check out the ongoing review)

Could not hit my driver worth anything today. And still figuring out distances with my new iron set. All that considered, I posted a solid score by not completely blowing up any hole. I am getting better at keeping the ball moving forward in a straight line with fewer completely errant shots.

Course rating 68.8, slope 127, par 71.  No birdies, longest drive 247 yards.  Course was exceedingly tough, fescue was long and gnarly.   Then I found out that next week the Canadian Women's PGA championship is being played on the Heathlands course, so the course is being setup for tournament play.  No wonder, I scrambled all round.

started off somewhat hot today. Had an eagle opportunity on 2. Three putted for par.

on 5, hit a remarkable 6i shot on the green. No way did I think I could pull this off.

Wheels fell off on 9 (hit driver where I could not find the ball, then next shot hooked it off the course) and I just couldn’t get back in rhythm after. Had some untimely lip out putts like Rory. Gotta cut down on those.
I am nursing a back injury from Saturday which likely didn’t help.

Otherwise a beautiful morning. IMG_0651.jpeg.ed4be7cc3c1c288f25ed48a803165648.jpegIMG_0650.jpeg.c62a6f5713f86b4ea98505e42e6bbf33.jpegIMG_0649.jpeg.265966fcaf2cc7802dd4718a6145dc73.jpeg

Today showed improvement over Tuesday, but still left some desire to play better!

image.png.1c3f3f173a9b8049ce973394cf05d2b0.png

Overall, I played pretty well today.  My fairways in regulation was pretty good for me at 86% (missed two by about a total of 8 feet).   My greens in regulation was 17%, up one from normal.  An encouraging sign was my approach shots that were short hovered about 50% and I had shots, left, right and long.

My strength is usually in my chipping and pitching.  Today, it sort of let me down.   I guess going out and practicing yesterday didn't yield the improvement I was hoping for!  Only four up and downs and I was in position to have at least double that.   As a result, I was left with those pesky 8-10 footers to make for par.  Looking at my 30 putts should indicate it didn't go well.

When you playing partner says "you should have been in the 70's if a few of your lip outs and just over the edges when in" you know it just wasn't going to be your day.  He was correct as I was all around the hole, but not in.

Our aerated greens finally were repaired enough to allow the ball to roll true.  That only meant they were going to be aerated again!  Today, half of the greens had micro punches (1/8 to 1/4" in diameter) with no top dressing.  Not all holes were punched, and it looked like they just did them as there were debris all over the green.  Hey, at least we were playing.  They say the next full aeration will utilized Dryjet technology.  Time will tell if it makes a difference.
