iPhone Apps

So...I got an iPhone for Christmas. Perfect gift since I'd have never bought one for myself.

 

Just wondering what some of your favorite golf apps are?

Two go-to apps for me are the GHIN app and the PGA Tour app. Both are free. The GHIN app lets you post scores right from your phone as well as look up your handicap and course ratings. PGA Tour app is a great source of tournament scores, news and videos.

 

I also have a couple of GPS apps. FreeCaddie (works ok and it's free), myCaddie Pro (not free right now, but got it free on a promo), GolfLogix (I did a full review after being picked as a tester) and one that MGS pointed out called FunGolf.

 

FunGolf looks like a very cool GPS app, but I haven't purchased yet, just got the Lite version to mess around with it.

 

My local course also has an app I downloaded that lets you post scores and has GPS.

 

Final golf app for me is the iPing app. I actually used it quite a bit with my old iPhone 4, but since there isn't a cradle for the iPhone 5 yet I haven't been able to use it in a while.

 

I've heard the Flick Golf game is pretty fun too, but haven't tried it out yet.

This probably doesn't count but Super Stickman Golf is the way to go when passing the time.

Other than the basics (Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, mobil banking, etc), I really like Nike Golf 360 because its a great way to track your game. It doesnt give you yardages but if does allow you to keep score and track things like FIR, GIR, number of putts and average score.

I also really like Golflogix as use for giving me yardages on the course. Golflogix also has a lot of the game tracking tools that NG360 has but I feel that its not as good for that as NG360 is.

I also have Flick Golf on my phone. Its just a stupid little timekiller app but its fun when Im waiting for something and have some time to kill.

My iPhone 5 is longer and skinnier than the iPhone 4,so I'm assuming it won't fit.

Trying to stay away from all in the innuendo's going on here, but just checked the dimensions of the 4/4s vs the 5 and they are actually the same width. The 5 is slightly thinner, but I think there is a shot that the iPing cradle for the 4 will still work. I'll dig mine out later tonight or tomorrow and see if it fits.

For free apps I recommend the ping app, golf channel, super stickman golf and v1 golf.

 

For pay apps I recommend Golf MTRX and Golfshot GPS.

I downloaded "swing by swing" for the GPS. Not sure how much I really want to use my phone on the course though. I am NOT gentle on stuff.

Not golf related.....but "100 Floors" is really cool.....and "Angry Birds Star Wars" is mind-numbingly fun.

I'll tell ya another cool app that I bought(I think it was like $5 outa the iPhone store), and that is the V1 Golf app.

Absolutely!!!!

 

I have that one. I put it on my wife's iPad a while back and LOVE it! Good call.

It's Nike's golf game tracking app and should be in the store somewhere.

I agree with most all of the apps listed so far, so I'll throw my endorsement in for the iPing, NG360, and V1 apps.

 

Edit: I forgot the Tiger Woods My Swing, it has a fee to download it, but it shows Tiger's swing for each club in the bag.

SAGA Golf (The South Africa Golf Association handicap system's app, of absolutely no use to any of you)

Sunshine Tour (The South African Tour's app, again no use to any of you)

Golf Weather - Great app to check the weather at the course you will be playing at. (Lists courses in the US, Canada, UK, Aus, Ireland, South Africa)

Golfplan - Lots of instructional videos done by Paul Azinger. App made by the Shotzoom guys who did the Golfshot GPS app. Their apps are very well designed. Not sure if I would recommend this, haven't spent much time looking at the videos. There are so many videos, there are bound to be some good ones. Quite expensive if I recall correctly.
