WITB - Nike Athletes at the Sony Open

Recommended Posts

IMO the most notable bit of info in all of this is that all 5 Nike Athletes who competed in the Sony Open had the new RZN Ball in play. My guess is you're going to see wider adoption across the board...that is to say Nike will do a better job of getting the new gear in play this season.

Nike's policy is basically not to force its staffers to play the latest and greatest, so among other things, you should probably starting to believe that the 2014 stuff (particularly the ball, but definitely the driver as well), has been improved significantly from last year.

Scott Brown – Scott has the new VRS Covert 2.0 driver in the bag. He really likes the head shape and ball trajectory, as well as how the ball comes off the face of this new driver.

Driver: Nike VRS Covert 2.0 Tour 9.5-degree (Diamana Ihina 60)

Fairway Wood: Nike VRS Covert 3-wood/15-degree and VRS Covert 5-wood/19-degree

Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo (3-5), Nike VR Pro Blades (6-PW)

Wedges: Nike VR Forged 54-degree and 60-degree

Putter: Nike Method Prototype

Ball: Nike RZN Platinum

Russell Henley – Russell has the new VRS Covert 2.0 fairway woods in the bag this week. He is really pleased with the results he is getting with these woods. Russell also has a new golf ball in the bag. He is playing with the RZN Black golf ball to defend his title at the Sony Open.

Driver: Nike VRS STR8-FIT 9.5-degree (Graphite Design HD-7X)

Fairway Wood:  Nike VRS Covert 2.0 3-wood/15-degree and 5-wood/19-degree

Irons: Nike VR Pro Cavity (3-6); VR Pro Combo (7-9)

Wedges: Nike VR Pro 48-degree, VR Pro 53-degree and VR Forged 59-degree

Putter: Nike Method 001

Jaime Lovemark - Jamie has the new VRS Covert 2.0 driver in the bag this week. He really likes the launch conditions he is getting with the new VRS Covert 2.0 driver.

Driver: Nike VRS Covert 2.0 10.5-degree (UST VTS 7X)

Fairway Wood: Nike VRS Covert 2.0 3-wood/15-degree and VRS Covert 5-wood/19-degree

Putter: Nike Method 006

Seung-Yul Noh - Seung-Yul has the new VRS Covert 2.0 Tour driver in the bag this week in Hawaii.  He is happy with the driver performance paired with the new RZN Platinum golf ball. Seung-Yul is getting great distance off the tee and increased spin around the greens with the new RZN Platinum.

Couldn't agree with you more.  I was just getting ready to start a thread and see if anyone has heard anything about the Nike Covert 2.0 line.  They all look great, sound great and I'm sure the performance will match. I also think their new golf balls will be something everyone will want to look for!  Great stuff Nike is doing!
