jfull1914
Trying to decide between Srixon or Cobra irons. I currently game Taylormade RSI irons and I need to get stiffer shafts. The price of the KBS c-tapers plus installation is gonna run me close to $400. The thing is I can get a new iron set through my job connects for about $500 fully custom. I just can't find a retailer that fits for Srixon and Cobra so I can test them head to head. I really like the look of the Srixon 565/765 but the Cobra discount is much sweeter. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Here is my story of switching to Cobra. So I have always been a blade player starting on the golden bears back in the 80s and as I got older I became a dedicated mizuno blade player and really for 15 years I wouldn't play anything else but their irons. However, I did switch back and forth between vokey and mizuno wedges. Anyhow, the point of this story is that while I loved playing mizuno irons there came a point where I became a golf coach and cobra gave a discount to high school teams and Mizuno not so much. So I figured what the heck lets give their blades a try, specifically the Pro Fly Z irons, and man these irons felt and blew the Mizuno MP 69s I was playing out of the water. Was gonna get MP4s but didn't like the feel of them so that helped me pull trigger on Cobras. I cant speak highly enough of cobras gear. As for srixon I've only hit a few of them in the winter at my local golf shop on the simulator. They look awesome at address but when I came to the blades meh it wasn't anything better. Maybe I have just grown partial to my Fly Z pros but none the less I thought I'd share. Obviously I know you are looking at the CBs so funny enough I can tell you my dad bought a set of Mizuno JPX 900s at a great deal with custom shafts just to take the shafts out to put into his cobras because the shaft he wanted cost more then the new set of irons. He gamed the mizunos and didn't like them compared to his cobra irons just in case but he is in the process of switching them out. Maybe a G25 or G30, something a couple generations old but 1/4 the cost of new. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I like where your head is at. I buy equipment with the same mentality. In the research I did, the G30 is the best option. It got extremely high marks on release against other drivers of the same generation and MGS forum members that have tried the G (the next generation) noticed almost no difference. I placed an aggressive bid on a G30 on eBay but didn't win. Shortly after, I found a setting on my current driver that straightened me out so I put that purchase on the back burner for now. Still may look into buying one next spring. Hope that helps. Good luck!
