revkev
Well I confirmed what I suspected based on my recent SuperSpeed workouts. Much like a few weeks into level 2 my swing speed is off. I'm very disheartened by this - clearly kneeling and I don't get along. I wish I could just undo the kneeling stuff!!!! To be clear I'm ahead of where I was when I started still but I've slide all the way back to where I was at the end of level one - that's 5 mph in driver swing speed - I was hitting the ball well but noticeably shorter about 10 yards - than three weeks ago. The only exception was 6 iron which meant there was a huge gap between 6 and 7 iron. I averaged 170 on my 5 6 iron swings and 153 on my 5 7 iron swings after 140 with the 8 - I didn't hit 5 hybrid today. Hopefully I recapture what I had three weeks ago fairly quickly. While I intend to go the full 72 weeks of SuperSpeed these set backs are difficult - I'm 62, I hate loosing a month plus out of my season especially once I start playing competitively again in April - I may put any new drill on hold until November and just do what I'm comfortable with to maintain until then. cnosil 1 Quote Driver: Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 R flex - 44.25 Fairways: Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood Alta CB red 65 R flex Hybrid: Ping G410 26 degree Alta CB Red 70 R flex Irons: Ping G430 7-PW, 45, 50 Alta CB black 65 soft R flex Wedges: Ping 195 S54, E58 Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5” Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. edingc
After watching one of the videos on the Be Better Golf YouTube channel with the inventor of the DST Compressor, I've been more mindfully working on my takeaway. I'm trying to feel like I'm getting my left shoulder more underneath my chin. I've changed a lot in my swing since starting over last summer, but one thing that rears its head often is a very flat shoulder turn and an inside takeaway. Hearing the way Bertie described the takeaway, its relation to proper weight shift and the hands being forward at impact (creating "lag tension" as he calls it) resonated well in my head. We're supposed to see near 60 degree temperatures next week which should get a lot of the snow off of the ground. Hoping to play a round before the end of March with some of these new swing changes! cksurfdude 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 3.6 / Anti-Cap: 9.9 (Last Updated Sept. 1, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. TR1PTIK
Skipped the gym and went to the range after work yesterday. It's the first time I've been to the range in over a month due to all the winter weather. The session wasn't the best to start out, it was like I just forgot everything I had ingrained last season and was doing just fine on the course a few days prior. Anyway, I started to get things lined out about halfway through my bucket of balls and then I decided to work on really leaning the shaft through impact as this is often lacking in my swing. After trying a few things I had worked on during lessons, I decided to try something different and just crowd the ball so much that the only way to make good contact was lean the shaft way forward. I literally would start with the ball lined up out of the hosel at address and then make a full swing. It worked surprisingly well as my very worst shots were only slightly out of the heel. I could feel that I was compressing the ball much better and the ball flight was much lower/stronger compared to my normal flight. I definitely want to video myself next time I get out and try this. If I'm achieving what I think I am in my swing then that would be a huge breakthrough for me. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: ST190 9.5* Fujikura Atmos Blue 5S Fairway Wood: ST190 15* Fujikura Atmos Blue 6S Hybrid: CLK 17* Fujikura Speeder EVO HB Irons: J40 CB (3-PW) Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 Wedges: Milled Grind 2 54* & 58* Dynamic Gold S200 Putter: Tri-Hot 5k Two 34" Bag: Players 5 Stand Bag Ball: Maxfli Tour

PING Apologist #9
Took my shiny new-to-me Ernest Sports ES12 LM out today (thanks @GolfSpy MPR!!!) for a little test run, and man is it nice! It really only shows ball speed and distance (either carry or total), but it really validated the gap chart I carry pretty darn closely. I only hit a bucket today, but took my time to get comfortable with some tweaks to my swing I need to solidify. Worked on my footwork, knees, weight shift and grip-yeah pretty much the whole enchilada. Things (albeit self-taught still) are coming together rather nicely. Really struck the ball well today and hope to translate todays good vibe into tomorrows round. We'll see... revkev
Went to the range before settling in to watch the final round of the Players with a Black and Tan in hand.No one was there. I hit the ball horribly on Friday with the guys - shot 80 but it was an ugly one. (Lots of scrambling) I’m happy to report that I started out hitting it even worse and yet didn’t break or even throw a single club. :) Adding to the misery was the fact that the grass on the range was mowed so tight and it was wet that any swing that wasn’t perfect produced an ugly shot - oh and of course it was into a left to right Northeast wind. The first half of my practice I was ready to call Foz and cancel playing Friday so that I could take a lesson. But I did drill my coach gave me and slowly but surely started hitting some good 7 irons followed by very good hybrids interspersed with descent 9 irons (to simulate 2 short par 4’s at Foz’s and some passable 3 woods and driver.I ended by hitting 20 or so 56 degree wedges to a target that was 81 yards away. Hit those quite well. So maybe I’ve moved in the right direction. My sequencing just stinks right now. I have to do way too much thinking to make it work. palvord
Was at the range yesterday working on two different things. One to use on the course, and the other for silly fun. On course: Hitting varying shot heights with my PW to a distance of 120-130yds. This was really challenging as I'm still knocking the rust off, but I know that this is going to be a needed shot for when I am finally able to play. Silly fun: Stingers off the tee with my 5-iron. I just needed to do something stupid to get my brain out of the overly serious PW practice before I went home, and also to remind myself that golf is supposed to be fun. cksurfdude 1 Quote In my Ultralight Stand Bag: Driver: Rogue 10.5° - LH - Project X EvenFlow 60 Stiff Woods: King F9 - LH - 3/4 Wood - Atmos Blue TS 7 Stiff King F9 - LH - 5/6 Wood - Atmos Blue TS 7 Stiff Irons: King F9 - LH - 5-GW - KBS C-Taper Lite Stiff Wedges: King Black - LH - 52° 56° 60° - KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 Stiff Putter: - Impact No. 3 Ball: Maxfli TourX Rangefinder: LX5 Watch
CarlH
Practiced yesterday. Hit some irons and my driver off the mats for awhile mainly getting a feel for the new irons and new shaft in the driver. Then went out and played a few holes so that I had a feel for turf interaction with the irons. Mainly just drove to specific distances and hit several balls to the green. One of the things that I'm specifically working on during practice is wrist position throughout my swing and through impact in an effort to improve crisp contact and ball compression. Definitely a work in progress but seeing positive improvements. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: Black Ops 12* with Cypher 50 5.0 Fairway: Black Ops 3 wood with Cypher 50 5.0 Hybrids: Black Ops 19* and 22* with Cypher 50 5.0 Irons: Gen6 6, 7, 8, 9, W, G with Cypher 50 5.0 Wedges: Sugar Daddy II 52* and 56* with Cypher 50 5.0 Putter: DF 2.1 -- BGT Stability shaft @ 34" Ball: Tour, Chrome Tour, Pro V1 Other: C10 Bag, glove My Photography can be seen at Smugmug

Kenny B
I had a whim a month ago and order a 2019 Callaway PM grind 54/14 wedge. It's the first 54º from Callaway in the PM Grind. It also has a C-Grind sole. I was a little worried about the 14º bounce; that's a lot for my turf conditions. It was a special order; took a month to get. It came on Monday, but my course has been closed since Feb 3 so the long wait wasn't to terrible. The practice area at my course opened yesterday and the course opens for play tomorrow. I spent 2 hours yesterday chipping and one hour today pitching from 30 yards, and I like it so far. I haven't tried any full shots, but I will tomorrow when the course opens. jayjay0808
Last night I really needed to work on opening up on the downswing, as I tend to get slightly flippy when I stall out. So I slowed everything down and hit about 100 balls for feel of 3/4 swings ball up at the top of my stance. Only trying to hit the ball 100 yards low and cutting. This tends to get me in a good place. So will warm up like that on the weekend and go from there. Kenny B
Went to course this afternoon. Hit a few balls on the range; got interviewed by a cute 20 something reporter for local tv station. Filmed me hitting on #1. On tonight’s news.
