BobBC78
Putting - Did another PuttOUT "gauntlet" today, this time with my Seemore m5 HT. The results were pretty similar to yesterday with the Seemore FGP: 21 total putts (missed one left from 5') for a "make" rate of 95%. The bottom line for me is that given what I'm working on in the full swing and chipping, it doesn't make sense to put the time in on armlock putting to hone my speed control. For 2024, I'll go with a conventional putter, probably one of my Seemores. Full swing - worked on short swings through the impact area focusing on initiating the downswing with my hips and legs and keeping the clubface square through the impact area. Popular Post chisag
... Pretty good round yesterday with 4 birdies but 3 bogies to shoot -1. The Arizona Golf Association Tournament is at my home course the next 4 days and I was joined by a 30yr old young man from Bullhead playing a practice round. 7100 for him and 6400 for me and he was usually outdriving me by 20-40 yards. While I wouldn't call it effortless, it was a pretty smooth swing with surprising power. I saw him have 2 bogies but guessing he had 5 or 6 birdies, and he was playing the course for the first time. It was a Wayne and Garth I'm Not Worthy round. ... Looked him up to see how he was doing and after a 7:10am start, 51* and cloudy with sprinkles he is tied for the lead at -6. Turns out he is a +4.7 ejgaudette, Girldad18, Rob Person and 7 others 6 4 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ... Kai'li Blue 60R Hybrids: 430 Hybrid 22*... NubianRugby
Hit 60 balls at lunch today. I've been working on a swing/setup change that's been helping with ball contact but I've been inconsistent with my distances; sometimes blasting a 7 iron 175 yards, other times only hitting it 145. If it's always going to be 145 that's fine, but I find myself occasionally airmailing a green by 30 yards so I have to figure this out. I've been pushing my hands forward to de-loft my clubs slightly and making sure that I'm taking the club back inside. That combined with lining up a little closer to the hosel at address has me striking the ball better and more consistently this season. What I figured out today is that when I slow down my takeaway I cock my hands back a little more at the top of my backswing and that's when the magic happens; not coming outside in so much, pure strikes, and increased distance. It took 45 balls to put it all together, but man did it feel good those last 15 swings. I was hitting my 58 well, 60 yards dead straight; but hitting off grass and hitting off a mat are two very different things, so I need to get out on the course ASAP. jbern, Rob Person, ejgaudette and 5 others 5 3 Quote WITB Calloway Hyper X Driver TaylorMade SIM2 Max D Paradym 3-wood Ping G430 3-hybrid Ping G430 4-PW Ping 50, 54, 58 wedges Old ass putter from my old bag TP Hydro Blast Soto

There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to the armlock putting method. Thankfully, it was pretty natural for me to switch over, with the exception of longer putts. That being said, I was never great at lag putting with a traditional putter either so it's something that I've been working on. Willie T
Day 55 (08 Mar 24) - Played a solo round today, course wasn’t too busy, so it was a good time to just play. With all the rain we’ve had this week, the fairways were soft (1/3 of the holes were cart path only) and the greens super receptive and slower. Stage set, so how did it go - bogie on one and I’m okay with that…then I hit a string of pars holes 2 thru 6 (3 GIR/2 putts, 3 up&down/1putt), then disaster on 7 - tee shot lost in trees/pond, 3rd off the tee, scramble 4 to 30yds out, heavy 54 wedge and a second 54 to about 20’ out and a two putt for the “snowman”. From +1 to +5 in one hole. Bogied 8 and parred 9. Back nine was more typical with a series of pars and bogies to finish plus 4 on the back. Finished with a 82 - happy. Now for the shameless plugs for the gear: INDI wedges were 99% on - receptive greens, decent lies had a number of up and down wedges to less than 3’ from the hole - talk about instilling confidence; Edel SMS 7i - solid iron play, just a point and aim day; Millie, the Odyssey AI-One Milled putter - no 3 putts all day, long lags to no worse than 4’, total of 30 putts rolled…..it was a good day, that was close to cracking the 80 barrier. BallsLeon
Have had a week off practice, so spent time at the sim last night hitting with my alignment sticks. Giving myself a consistent setup, and focusing on a pre shot routine. Only hit the 52°, didn't hit a ton of balls just tried to give each shot the same attention. Spent the rest of the time putting. Similar to my full swings, I’m working on a pre-putt routine and limiting my time over the ball before a putt. RichL85
Working on the driver right now. I've been struggling with the driver recently, mostly either pushing it to the right or big hooks. Found out my club path is around 8-10 degrees in to out with driver, which would explain a lot of that. Popular Post cksurfdude
Had a bit of a disappointing (..I hate to admit...) practice yesterday. Just couldn't seem to get comfortable over the ball, and couldn't make decent contact .. with any club, at any speed... Hmmm. Recognized, though, that I should also be practicing *positive* mental game techniques with every shot, and not beating myself up nor feeling stoopit about what happens with a shot - we're there to work on our technique! ..and, as always... Rob Person
Today was supposed to be a demo day by Taylormade, free 30 minutes, 2 club fitting event, but due to the threat of severe thunderstorms they canceled last night and set off to their next destination. Rain and storms were from 1am but had stopped by 6 am. Bummer for me. But I showed up anyway to see if they might of changed their minds. So I broke out the wedges and putter and practiced chips, bumps, and lofted shots from 30 yards and in for 30 minutes. Used the 8i and 60⁰. Then broke out the DB for 30' putts working on speed control and lagging. about 100 balls total there. Found that on downhill putts it's not essential for me to try to control distance, but to control speed to the drop down. Downhill were 3-6⁰ with r to l breaks. cksurfdude, Willie T, ZJeb67 and 5 others 8 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. BallsLeon
Went to the sim to practice before playing today. Today’s practice consisted of wearing no gloves, and playing against past-ghost rounds of myself on a par 3 (twice) and a 9 hole: Loss - 1 stroke, Win - 5 strokes, and Win - 1 stroke. Did something things better than my past self today, but was mystified by some of my <30yd chips I was making a couple months ago. Definitely need to grind on short game practice. And regards to the no gloves… it stems from my belief that gloves are annoying, and less grip seems to help me slow down my hands (instead of racing across to hook the ball). Channeling my inner-Fred Couples . Spent the rest of the time rolling random distance putts between 4-6ft, and it built a ton of confidence. Working on my mental game to commit to my current putt, instead of worrying about the miss and my next putt. Nothing feels better than dunking a putt with authority. ronnieg
Practiced with the striker ball on the range to stay more connected before my round. Also working on a deeper hip turn on the back swing. Issue with early extension/hump with my driver so main swing thought is turning through impact. Had a great day driving minus one really bad one.
