Putting- Tip for keeping lower body still.

Recommended Posts

Gents,

I've had trouble keeping my lower body still during putting since I started playing a few years ago. I'm so used to making my knee move over my left foot and rotating my hips (I'm right handed) during my back swing on irons/woods, that I still do it very slightly on my putting stroke. Well, after many failed attempts to fix it, I finally figured out a fix (for me anyway).

It seems simple, but by just flexing both of my calves about 25% it appears to disengage the upper/lower body for me and allows me to stroke the golf ball much purer...... It's a simple but effective fix!

Try opening body and widening stance?

That helps me. Glad you found a fix.

Ok...

I tried flexing my calves but can't do that without raising my heels or getting up on my toes or something. I suppose I just don't have that type of independant muscle control. I've never experienced the issue you're describing during putting. But, whatever works.

Maybe it's just one of my weird quirks, or perhaps it simply takes my mind off of the putt..... ?
