Love that city. Grew up just outside of it. Heading back to visit in a few weeks. Any specific places you're going to while you're out there?

Help me out, Matt.

Explain "adult time" to me.

I may have known about it once, but I'm having a tough time remembering.

Thanks.

Shopping, drinking, gambling and the other stuff you can work out yourself Nifty.

We just walk the Strip and go into just about every shop. Then we'll be heading to the Church for a couple of beverages and some lunch. Nickys Thai Kitchen we always hit up for dinner and then off to the casino to make a donation.

The past two weeks with all my children was great. We started with the maid of the mist, worked our way through the finger lakes up to the thousand islands (bolt Castle) eventually making our way down to Watkins Glen and finishing off the week with wine tasting and tours before heading back home. Almost 2000 miles in 5 days. The Marine and his girlfriend left today. The Aussies leave tomorrow.

I had a great night out last night, taking my daughter out for dinner and then to see Miss Saigon. She's off to college next year so it was a nice little daddy/daughter night before she heads off.

Plus the marching band won their division Saturday at their first competition, AND none of the 15 tree props we built fell over, so all in all it was a great weekend!

I had a great night out last night, taking my daughter out for dinner and then to see Miss Saigon. She's off to college next year so it was a nice little daddy/daughter night before she heads off.

I ended up seeing Miss Saigon, too.

Back in 2000, my son and i decided to go to New York for the Oscar DeLaHoya-Derrell Coley fight at MSG.

My daughter, then a senior in college, said that she wanted to come too.

Now I'm up to two hotel rooms as my adult daughter would need her own.

My wife chips in that as long as we were going to need two rooms anyway, she wanted to come along, too.

Girls in one room, boys in another, of course, as though this were a middle school road trip.

They were adjoining, at least.

And, she wants to make it a mini-vacation and catch a Broadway show, too.

I wanted to see SmokeyJoe's Cafe, but the girls insisted on Miss Saigon.

A Viet Nam musical was the LAST thing that i wanted to see, but Miss Saigon, it was.

When I finally got my wife to see Smokey Joe's Cafe at a Manchester, NH theater, she loved it.

I did too,

but I turned against him hard when he bad-mouthed Donald Fehr.

I, of course, sided with the players in the 1994 strike.

Hawk Harrelson was never middle of the road on anything.

You brought up the 94 strike. My father and I went to Fenway at least once every year since I was a kid (late 1940's) the 94 strike PO'd both of us and we didn't go for at 4-5 years afterwards. By the time we went back he really wasn't up to any road trips anymore.

Both the baseball and football strikes is one of the reasons I appreciate the professionals of our game, golf.    In both strikes, I got the feeling that both the players and the owners really didn't give a darn about the working stiff that just wanted to take his wife and two kids to a ball game.   While professional golfer's can make great money, they must produce and continue to produce, they don't just sign multi-year contracts.  But more importantly, I think professional golfers appreciate their fans and understand that without them they would not be making such a living.

It's important to understand that the huge player salaries are not the cause of high ticket prices.

They're the result of them.

Tickets cost whatever the market will bear, and lots of yuppies are willing to make sure that proletarians will never be able to afford to go.  People really ought to understand this before blaming the players.

If the players didn't demand their share of the pie, the owners would simply pocket the difference.

And profits aren't the owners' big moneymaker. Team value appreciation is.

I supported both the baseball and football players in their respective strikes and I permanently lost all respect for  the players who scabbed.  It's also the reason I like baseball players more than football players.  Except for Hawk Harrelson.

My career as a results accountant did not describe my working life.

My service as the office union rep described my working life.

This is what I learned:  labor negotiations have NOTHING to do with "right" and "wrong."

Labor negotiations have everything to do with "us" and "them."

Not recognizing this is not being informed.

"Us" are the people whose signatures go on the back of the paycheck.

"Them" are the people whose signatures go on the front of the paycheck.

As for PGA Tour pros, I really don't care that much about them because their world view generally DOESN'T match mine.  Traditionally, they line up directly against me on social interests which is, of course, their prerogative.

And here come the "Morals Code" citation.

It's all for the best, I suppose.
