MGS New Member Introduction: Southeast Region

Hi everyone! My name is Matt, and I’m writing in from Winston Salem, North Carolina. 

1. I was in high school the first time I played golf, and haven’t picked it back up until this year— I’m now 37. So, yeah, I guess I took a 22 year break!  I’m pretty inconsistent, so I’m capable of shooting anywhere between a 90 - 110. 
2. I don’t know any other folks on this platform.  I’m here to increase my knowledge of the sport. 
3. I’ve been practicing a lot at Winston Lake Golf Course— and no, I don’t recommend it.  It’s not very well maintained, and even the fairways can present problematic lies. 
4. The best thing about golf in my area is the weather, and that’s also the worst. Ha! The heat can be pretty tough during the summer. 
5. I was a classroom teacher for a long time, which is probably why I couldn’t afford to play golf for 20 years! Ha!  But I restarted my career recently, and now I’m in EdTech sales
