This whole season has been incredibly impressive for the duck boats as he's only finished outside the top two twice all year. Here's the current standings:

Wow that’s damn impressive! Nice shooting. It was great to have the participation that we did. I know I loved having you guys involved and pushing the #CCC4 competitors knowing we had you guys out there gunning for us!

Well....Even though I couldn't win I got in on the betting action (this is why I dont bet on sports) I went away from my boy @B.Boston and went with the dark horse @daviddvm ....Whooops!

Congrats to those betters this week that crushed it (lots of 100%ers there) and @golfish! for the new kicks!

I think I had as much fun following this as you all did just playing. The beginning of this competition before everyone was selected was fantastic. In a time where I think we all needed a good laugh this entire group (not just competitors) delivered in removing our minds from the outside world.

 Start to finish the entertainment value was:

My favorite aspect of this competition was tight between WEEK 3 irons only and WEEK 7 IRL Alt shot.

-Irons only strictly because it was a big turning point for myself realizing what I can do without a driver in my hand (if my putting is hot of course). 

-Alt Shot because while I always have fun playing a round with @B.Boston this was the first time we really assisted each other and got the best out of our skill sets. I also think that it is a great way to get members to meet and get out for what we all enjoy, Golf!

I really wouldn't change much. I think a cool addition could be though is adding a round at the end of the competition where the competitors play 2 balls. 1 with old set 1 with the cobras just to see if an old fire could be rekindled, or if they were on the fence about which set they would be sticking with, could really settle the debate.

Well I only see it fitting to finish up with what I think our competitors look like at the end (almost end) with who is arguably one of funniest actors ever Chris Farley:

@edingc while he crushed reviews he  just struggled to get going on course (not bad either just couldn't put it all together):

@GB13 I said it once I will say it again, you crushed it kid. At your age never would have been able to do this never mind write a readable review. You had some spectacular rounds but this wouldn't be the CCC4 thread if I didn't rag on your age:

@Headhammer crushed reviews, was playing well and had some really good instagram media...almost the trifecta. While I am sorry you were unable to finish up (and a damn good reason not to be able to) I am still gonna rag on your injury, in good humor:

@daviddvm got better and better every week. Great reviews and challenged my horse to the end, while we do not know who the winner is yet I hope the crown slips through your hands like this:

That was also my favorite part, to be able to go play against the competitors was really fun, I did not always do well, but it was really enjoyable, more so for my playing partner who showed up every week asking "What crazy thing I was doing that week"

I wish that going forward we could expand on the playing against the competitors.

And off course the dress up week was awesome.

That is very nice, I've had my share of off the green putts that went in. 

This is the last one

I hit it from short of the green next to the bunker, about 5 yards short of the green to a flag that was on the middle,  Arccos said it was 99 feet of putt, but for where the flag was, I think it was more like 60 feet, but still a fantastic putt to save par.

B.Boston’s #CobraConnect Challenge 4 Review – Arccos Caddie Edition

How is it that we are nearing the end of this #cobraconnect journey?  I played my last rounds of the competition over the weekend (3 using my own ball, 1 scramble) up at Point Sebago Golf Course in Maine.  For my first round I exclusively listened to my Arccos Caddie to help me navigate the course.  Overall in the #CCC4 challenge I took 632 shots with my old clubs and  1,114 shots with my Cobra gear across…. So, how well does it work?  Read on to find out!

On-Course Performance – 4/5 Stars 

When I’m out on the course even before using Arccos Caddie I usually had my phone in my pocket.  It’s just not something that ever bothered me, but I also don’t have a large phone so I could see why that is an issue for some.  I’ve used GPS apps so am used to using my phone to quickly look at a hole or get a distance to the front or back of a green to use in combination with my rangefinder.  Arccos does a lot of things really well.  On my iPhone 11 Pro the interface works quickly and responds well.  I did not have a single instance of the app closing out unexpectedly during the round.  I found my yardages and rangefinder to agree and expect it is within a few yards accuracy.  I know that this system is not perfect, but its far more accurate than guesstimating how far you hit your clubs based on the carded distance and yardage left.  For me, Arccos rarely missed a shot.  Maybe a dozen or so total.  Half of those being delicate chip shots that I doubt had enough force to be loud enough to trip the sensor.  I usually check for putts on my way to the next hole or while waiting on the next tee but I wasn’t particularly bothered by tweaking that.  It seems repairing ball marks on the green can be enough to set mine off and record a putt.

 

 

Off-Course Performance - 5/5 Stars 

I personally think the data I see is awesome.  And I really enjoy being able to have that accurate distance and accuracy numbers with each club.  I’m fairly competitive and my goal is always to lower my handicap some.  The Arccos data at the start of the season really opened my eyes that I was not nearly accurate enough off the tee or on approach shots.  I haven’t gotten to dig deep into the new strokes gained metrics, but even before that I love being able to see how each club is performing for me.  It means more 5-woods off the tee for me and added focus on accuracy vs distance with the driver.  I found it super easy to edit rounds and check flag locations both in the app and on my iPad or computer.  I’d love for Arccos to come out with a dedicated iPad app, but the web-version of the dashboard works well too.  Between the old and new views the old view was probably cleaner, but the strokes gained data is busier in nature as it is more granular in detail.  I fully expect that Arccos that will improve on the UI as they are constantly making updates and investing in their platform.  

*For the record... that WAY LEFT shot was on the first tee and I pulled it for sure, then it kicked hard off a tree, found its was through the rest of the 20 yards of tree line, and settle in the middle of the 9th fairway.  

Miscellaneous – 4/5 Stars 

Just a quick note here on the two different sensor styles.  My preference leans towards the screw in style versus the built in grip style.  I really like the Larkin Sensor grips and will be replacing these with the same style when I need to, but I found the sensor area to be a bit squishy, and some of the sensors aren’t perfect fits in the grip making it feel almost as if you haven’t tighten an adjustable club all the way.

Play It or Trade It - 5/5 Stars 

I will be continue down the road with Arccos.  I had purchased a set of non-subscription required sensors at the beginning of the season and will be switching to those and fresh grips when needed.  However, I do feel that there is a lot to be gained with the strokes gained analytics and the on-course GPS/Caddie App is excellent as well.  For the price of about a round and a half per year I see the value there for those interested in learning about some of their tendencies they might not even know they have.   

Arccos Caddie Overall Rating - 4/5 Stars 

TL;DR? Want to know if Arccos Caddie is the real deal?

·       Honest on-course performance tracking? 

·       Excellent GPS and maps for planning/playing your round?

·       Strokes Gained analytics that can actually help you improve?

·       A way to show off that long drive?

Overall, this challenge has been amazing. Huge shoutout to MGS and Cobra for putting this on, from the gorgeous clubs to the well thought out challenges it was fun every week to see what the competitors would bring. @B.Boston, @daviddvm, @edingc, @GB13, @Headhammer...ya done good! Reviews were insightful and well written, memes were well used, and you all did a great job of including the forum members in the process. Huge shoutout to @daviddvm for highlighting the one length clubs all year, I have a buddy who plays these and swears by them for those who can't put the time into golf that it takes to hammer down a swing with 14 different length clubs.

I would say my favorite part of the challenge was definitely breaking 80 for the first time during the woods and wedges competition. It was a lot of fun to play the different types of challenges, and I will be incorporating some of them into practice rounds for the high school kids this year to keep things fresh and help them learn course management in different scenarios. I'm bummed I was unable to partake in the 14 club challenge, but will definitely be roping that one in somewhere soon. Every week that involved getting forum members out on the course and connecting through golf was a definite win for me.

As far as suggestions go, I think it would be a ton of fun to have a week where members get to call out one of the participants and remove X number of clubs from their bag for that week. For example, if someone posted their Arccos data and it was clear their driving handicap was low, you could call them out and take away their driver. Or look at their usage data and take away the club(s) they tend to use for the most shots. This would provide different options off the tee/around the green throughout the round to give more insight to the review, but also would be a lot of fun for the forum members. Perhaps if I want to remove more than 1 club, I need to subtract a point from my handicap for head to head comparison? Just a thought.

Well Cobra doing a hell of a job again. Wondered why the dogs were barking earlier, went up to get some lunch for the kids and lookie what I found.

As always well packaged. Cobra material is awesome BTW! quickly becoming my favorite shirt and hat on course (and work). 

I will not be wearing this hat and shirt together, but the shirt goes with my hat from week 1 (dark blue on the bottom of the shirt not black). I grew up watching Tiger so I have plenty to go with the black hat (and camo on top of it, its like they know me). Gotta wear something golf related today, been a long week of no swings!

Have you noticed any difference on the course in the performance of the Gen 2 and Gen 3?

Also are there any differences on the app features and tools from one to another?
