Of course there will be tons on people who will agree on disagree with the penalty, and both sides will make compelling arguments, at the end of the day Aston Martin has accepted the penalty, just losing two points with this incident.

I know that Peter Windsor did say something about it and did not agree with the penalty, his justification is that it always happened and it never been an issue, he mentioned Senna in 87 with that break testing against Mansell, but that was 34 years ago, there is a lot things that drivers got away in back then that are way too dangerous.

This was a scary crash for George.

To be fair, in more recent history we had the Perez-Hamilton battle in 2021 Abu Dhabi. I believe Hamilton called it “dangerous driving” (though he was obviously trying to persuade the stewards for a penalty in doing so)

I think your last line hits on the underlying issue. No matter how much the stewards may say that the outcome had nothing to do with the penalty, no human is ever going to be able to see Russell’s car on the side in the middle of a fast corner, and not have that affect their decision-making on Alonso situation

Also Noris on p3 and Piastri on P6, have me feeling good for McLaren.

Stayed up late last night to watch the race. Really happy as a Ferrari fan, but bummed to see Charles not get the podium after running a practically perfect race from P8 with the one-stop strategy. Obviously they had to let Carlos pass with the fresher tires, but I thought he deserved it after his beautiful tire management.

Red Bull seems to still be in a different league, with Ferrari slightly closing the gap but a definitive second at the moment. Will be interesting as the season goes on if Mercedes/McLaren/Aston Martin can challenge them in race pace.

Likely will be watching the China race in a couple weeks the following morning. I don't think I can stay up to 2am CST for that one!

Watched while working - nice to see a lot of pitstops but also kinda drull. Just my own take though as it didn't seem like I had to pay attention to it and therefore was the perfect thing to have one while working.

Just watched the race, happy to see Sainz on the podium again. I agree @Byrnzee, Ferrari have made gains but just are not quite there. Still happy to see both of them in the top four.

I was really hoping that Piastri could hold off Russell to the finish but alas, it was not to be.

Anyone else really excited for China? It is a track I loved in the F1 games but it's been forever since there has been a race there.

Really excited for china. Sad to see Williams having more issues with their chassis. 
 

not surprised by the red bull 1-2. And honestly don’t feel bad for leclerc any more. Sainz has been the better racer this year. Shame to know he’s not going to be in red next year.

I don't know much about the China track as I've only gotten into F1 in the last couple years and it hasn't been on the calendar. Will need to do some research and watch some old footage. 

I'm excited for a new track and to see how the season progresses but I'm not excited for the 2am start time... I don't mind waking up early or staying up late for races, but when it's dead in the middle of the night it throws everything off.

One of my favorite perks of YouTube TV is that it records all of the F1 airings for me so that when they race at 2am I can just watch it at 5:30 when I get out of bed.

 

By the way, I can’t pick a favorite track, there are several that I really enjoy.

I thought it was just me and possibly because I was tired after a long day at the track myself... But just struggled to get into this race and really love the track, watching this race.

I want to see what the redbull can really do when pushed thru an entire stint as they never talk about tires issues much when it comes to the race. Ive been a MV fan but have paid more attention to other racers this year just because redbull and MV have been in there own zip code

This weekend will be another late night, or early morning depending how you look at it, the race starts at 3 am my time.

I am interested to see how China will play out, and even more to see if Ferrari can bring some updates to help with their race pace.

I think it is a forgone conclusion that it is Max's and RB's championship to lose, but still there is a long way to go.

I also think I have found my first tattoo inspiration.

I'm just hoping we can see anyone challenge Max.  Races are so much better when the camera isn't following the only market on track and it happens to be for 11-12th position.

Holy cow, I just watched the highlights of the Qualifier.
Q3 was crazy.

Can Norris hold on that p1 for the sprint?

The sprint was a lot more exciting than I expected.

I am amazed how Lewis held on to second.

Too bad for Norris, but overall it was good seeing some fighting between the couple of first cars.

Norris will definitely be beating himself up over that one. Maybe he’ll get some vengeance during the race.
