tgetty
I play 4 wedges counting the PW from my set of Mizuno MP20 MMC's. Julius
I am carrying typically 3 wedges. I have (all PING) my standard PW which is 44.5 degrees, then a Utility Wedge which is 49.5, and a Glide which is 60. I also have a 56 Taylore Made but I found I hit the Glide better. I have too large a gap between the UW and the 60, however, what I usually do is just take the PW and modify my swing speed/length (choking down on the shaft for example) to adjust for distance. I have a 52 as well somewhere but never use it. I use the 60 degree for when I am in the sand by the green. Decision making was simple and creative. PW is 46 degrees and from my iron set. I am considering heading in this direction as well. I think I want a 56-58* wedge that can do a lot of different things, mainly get laid open or played square and then just a full swing 50-52* wedge for those 100 yd shots. Right now I have the 50/54/58 split and I always second guess myself on those tweener shots. Do I want to step on the 58 or just hit an easy 54? Plus, I am pretty comfortable taking a bit off my PW (46*) so sometimes I get trapped between my 50* and my PW at like 104 yds to the pin. Also, I generally like just carrying fewer clubs. If I dropped a wedge I would be down to 11 clubs. JWK1969
Like many on this thread, I follow the 4 wedge philosophy. My pitching wedge and my gap wedge match my irons. I added 55 degree and 59 degree Edison wedges to replace previous 54 and 58 CBX2 wedges. Just didn't get the consistency from the CBX2s that I had with prior Cleveland RTX wedges. Perhaps I should have gone back, but I do like the Edison wedges.
