Draw a Line on the Ball or No Line?

KC Golf

Recommended Posts

Latest update.  Average putts per round down 2.5 putts according to Arccos.

Putting much better now.  No line is working for me.  I think I am going with more feel and committing to a specific line with the putt but not using a line on the ball to do it.

I will keep putting no line for the foreseeable future.

I definitely use a line on the ball for putting but now also on the tee. Watching the ladies on the LPGA tour, I see several ladies that line up their ball on the tee, and that practice has worked well for me.

Same here. When I putt I use a line on the ball and also try to find something about a foot away on the putting line. Driving is similar, line on the ball and a target within a foot or two of the tee to help aim.

I use a line; however, I'm not that particular about it. The line for me is more a reference on how well I am striking puts then an alignment tool. I will line the line up with the hole but I am more concerned with the line going end over end then alignment. I know if my line is end over end I have struck a good putt with a square face and a good path. This is when I put my best. Doesn't matter if you use a line if you cut the ball 3 in with side spin... I don't use line on longer putts, I don't even look at the ball I look at the hole. My PGA pro said it best when I was in college. I could give you a ball and you will underhand it within 5 feet every time. How is putting any different? You wouldn't underhand the ball looking at the ball in your hand, You'd look at the hole, I do the same thing with putting.

Triple track all the way for me.  I even bought one off amazon to use on non-callaway balls.
