I ask since this is high on my list for my 50th next May to fly out to Oceanside TPI for a full bag fitting. I'd love to hear experiences should anyone do such a thing for this review. as @GolfSpy_APHsaid, we will work with getting them setup with the best fitting possible for their location. I have been to TPI Oceanside and went through a full fitting there for the last version of TSeries. Just recently I was fit by the Regional Rep for Titleist and hit the entire lineup of new series. I’ve posted a bit here and will again once the official thread is kicked off. That’s your idea of congratulations? I won’t be as polite as @GolfSpy_APH was. These members didn’t “win” anything. They will spend hours upon hours over the next 4-6 weeks not only playing these clubs, but writing about them and answering hundreds of posts and questions about them. Something that require a lot more than making 7 posts in over 2 years of being on the site. One of them just joined the forum this spring, but has epitomized the very example of what an engaged and contributing member is. @GolfSpy_APH suggested reading the thread on how to become a tester. But fully realizing that will take a few more minutes than it did to make an uninformed bitter post about not “winning” I don’t expect you to actually do so. A little less cynicism and more participation will serve you better in the long run. Shrek74
On 8/14/2023 at 10:44 AM, Ben Joest said: My plan for testing these irons is, by design, going to be a bit free flowing as I don’t want to get trapped into a specific methodology and dismiss new ideas, so this is where this test becomes interactive with you, the constant reader. I will be putting calls out to the membership to glean what exactly folks want to see. However, without a loose outline, we are reduced to this: So with that in mind: · Using the MLM, I will use the current irons to set baseline numbers for club speed, ball speed, carry distance, total distance, and apex. · Also, dispersion will be looked at from the perspective of the average carry and lateral dispersion. A comparison will be made to determine if the T series improves these numbers and maintains a good gapping between clubs, as these 2 items are a key selling point for getting fitted into these irons. · Multiple range sessions with the T series, to accumulate an average for each club for comparison to the current set. · A baseline regarding strokes gained numbers through Shot Scope data ( See graph above) · At least one round per week, along with observations and results · Upon completion of the testing rounds, a comparison of how the strokes gained metric has improved or worsened over the course of testing. · Irons only rounds. To this, there have been some preliminary discussions about challenging the other Irons testers from this season to a “friendly” irons only battle royale. Details to follow. The current goal is shooting par or better this season, with breaking 70 clearly in my sights. Join me on this journey, as it is going to be a wild ride. I know one of the things I'm interested to hear from you with these irons is their forgiveness on off-center hits. They may not happen often for you, but I'd love to hear what happens when it does - distance loss, height change, descent angle change, etc. I've seen in YT videos from the usual channels that they are a lot more forgiving than people think and a lot more than last gens T100s. For fun, see if you can constantly score better on the MLM Combine with these verses your T100s. As I am not playing on Sunday on TV, I am still prone to mis-hits, even as a lower handicap. They don’t happen with the same frequency as when I was higher and I’ve gotten pretty good at recovery shots when they do. I like the Combine idea, as a measuring stick. I just did one last week that had pretty good results, so it will set the bar pretty high for the new sticks. Thank you for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. Keep it coming!
