I was already considering trying out the G430 and LST this year, but from the initial reviews it sounds like this 10K combines high forgiveness and lower (than Max) spin numbers. That would be money! Wu1f Posted January 9 Share Posted January 9 Rob Person - technically, the Max, but there's also a Max HL (high loft) - if you need height, might also be a little lighter? Recommend you consider a fitting. The shaft can make a huge difference, and if you're going to invest in the cost of a new driver, you'll rest better knowing whether this is the right club for you. I went into my fitting figuring that I'd end up in a G430, and I did hit it really well, but found out I hit the Titleist TSR1 even better. The 1 version is a bit lighter for slower swing speeds. I hit it better and somehow it felt easier to swing. Ended up putting a Badazz shaft in it. I think the shaft is either a 45 or 55 gram, also lightweight. There were three shafts that felt just as good as it, but I hit the Badazz better. Rearviewmirror Posted January 9 Share Posted January 9 Just back from hitting the new 10K vs my G425 in 10.5º loft (waiting to get the Trackman link then I can share my numbers). Wow this thing flies. With a 98mph swing speed (I was a bit tired by this point in the test) I was seeing 6-8yds more with the 10K than with a 100mph average swing speed with my G425 Max. Shot shape was almost always a baby draw, and even if I hit it out of the toe or the heel, it was still finding the edge of the fairway. Spin was down about 400rpm from my G425 Max. On "feels" - it felt way hotter off the face when you connect out of the sweet spot, and I couldn't feel the gear effect quite as much as on my G425. When I hit out of the toe of the G425 I can feel the clubface working the ball back, with the 10K I would be about to say "fore right!" and then the ball would just work its way back with a draw shot shape. It seemed louder than I remember the standard G430 Max being, but not in an obnoxious way, more in a "that's a cracking drive" kind of way. It didn't look appreciably bigger behind the ball to me either. I'm currently working on swing speed with The Stack, and so I'm going to hold off until Spring before making any new club decisions, but to be honest I don't see any reason why I wouldn't make the switch to the 10K. It felt more stable, went further, and felt easier to make solid contact with. My fitter changed the loft on my G425 Max so I'm going to play with that through the winter then treat myself in the new year. I will say, the 10K did feel almost impossible to lose face control with. So I was averaging almost 10yds further on carry with a slightly slower swing, and around the same on total distance. For reference my attack angle was between 1-3º while testing. I was also seeing about 300-350rpm less spin. I think this is going to be a no brainer for me as I was swinging the 10K slightly slower and still seeing all of these improvements. I saw way higher and more consistent smash factor on the 10K - with most of my shots at 1.48+ (!!!).
